Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 171: Let the Young Couple Sleep a Little Longer
Natalie Kendall stayed in the hospital room until the evening.
Vanessa Grant arranged for dinner to be sent in, but did not appear herself with Ansel Vaughn.
It was a meal for two, featuring four dishes and one soup, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Natalie set up the small dining table, neatly placing the elegant meal boxes.
Isaac Vaughn ate face to face with her.
After finishing the meal, she cleaned up the trash and then walked towards the hospital room door.
"Little Ear!"
Seeing her gesture, Isaac immediately became anxious.
"Are you leaving?"
Natalie didn’t respond and opened the door to leave.
A sense of bitterness filled Isaac’s heart as he stared blankly at the hospital room door.
Not long after, the door was opened again.
Seeing the person who returned, first came a moment of surprise, followed by immense joy.
It turned out she had just gone to throw away the trash.
Nothing was said, but Natalie silently made up the companion bed.
Realizing she would be staying to accompany him tonight, Isaac felt so excited that he might be wide awake all night.
After a quick wash, Natalie lay on the companion bed, handled some work matters on her phone, then surfed short videos for a while before turning off her phone to sleep.
From the hospital bed not far away, a bedside lamp remained on.
Natalie inadvertently met Isaac’s gaze.
He didn’t even know how long he’d been watching her.
"Are you going to sleep?"
Isaac reached out to turn off the lamp, "Goodnight."
Natalie turned onto her side, facing away, pulling the quilt up to her chin, and closed her eyes.
Even so, she could still feel the burning gaze on her back.
Making her feel uneasy.
How could she sleep like this?
She opened her eyes with frustration, and suddenly heard a faint rustling sound, followed by footsteps, and finally that sound disappeared behind her.
She realized Isaac was now standing by her companion bed.
But she didn’t turn around or move.
For a long time.
Isaac reached out and pulled the quilt open, squeezing onto the bed with her.
"You!"
Natalie, unable to resist, sat up and looked at the tall figure curled up on her bed, her temples throbbing.
Leaving the spacious hospital bed, he insisted on squeezing onto the companion bed with her.
"So sleepy."
Isaac closed his eyes and pretended to yawn, then reached out to tug her sleeve, "Go to sleep."
Natalie said coldly, "Either you go back to your bed, or I will leave."
Isaac quickly opened his eyes, met her calm gaze, and knew she was serious.
"No, I’ll go back."
He slowly sat up, inching off the companion bed.
Jumping onto the bed was swift and decisive, but now he was moving at a turtle’s pace.
Natalie didn’t bother to expose him, just watched him dawdle quietly.
At least, he finally managed to get off the bed.
She lay back down, only to find he was still standing by the bed, not leaving.
She frowned slightly and was about to get up again when he stopped her.
"Just lie down, I’m going back, really going back."
Isaac returned obediently to his hospital bed.
In the silence, there were only the sounds of their shallow and deep breaths, intertwining.
Natalie originally thought she wouldn’t fall asleep so easily, given her chronic insomnia lately.
But unexpectedly, she slept without a dream and quite well.
Early the next morning.
In a daze, Natalie heard the sound of doctors doing rounds.
Just as she was about to open her eyes, she suddenly realized she was being held in someone’s arms.
A familiar crisp scent mixed with the faint smell of disinfectant filled her nose.
Along with body warmth.
No mistaking it.
It was Isaac.
When did he come onto the companion bed again?
Natalie felt both shy and angry.
At this moment, she heard Vanessa’s voice, whispering to the doctor to conduct rounds later, allowing the couple to sleep a bit longer.
