Chapter 187: Chapter 187: He Wants to Silence Her

Natalie walked quickly towards the exit and just as she reached the elevator, the doors opened.

"Sister!"

Jordan Rivers rushed out from inside and hugged Natalie tightly.

Natalie was momentarily stunned, then noticed two more people in the elevator: Cynthia Kendall and Julian Beckett.

"Nat," Julian called her by name, then stepped forward, looking at her face with concern. "Why do you look so pale? Are you feeling unwell?"

Natalie snapped out of her daze and shook her head, saying she was fine.

They all returned to the house.

Natalie pulled Jordan aside and asked, "Where did you guys go just now?"

Jordan whispered to Natalie, "After you went out, the pretty auntie wanted to go out too. I was worried she might be in danger if she went alone, so I followed her."

This bit really surprised Natalie.

Jordan was obviously scared of Cynthia Kendall.

But his innate kindness made him overcome his fear.

"Then we bumped into that uncle, and he brought us back together with the pretty auntie," Jordan continued.

"Hmm." Natalie touched Jordan’s little head after listening. "You did very well. You’re a little man now, able to protect others."

Receiving praise, Jordan gave a shy smile.

Cynthia Kendall remained silent and returned to the guest room.

Julian Beckett was on the balcony smoking when Natalie went to find him.

"Brother."

Hearing Natalie call him, Julian put out his cigarette and turned around.

"How are things going in M-Country? Can you really come back this soon?"

"Yes, the partnership has been agreed upon, and I’ve left the follow-up work to them," Julian replied.

Natalie nodded.

Julian asked, "When I ran into Mom downstairs just now, I noticed a few bodyguards secretly following her. Are they yours or Isaac Vaughn’s men?"

"They’re Isaac’s," Natalie said, then paused and informed her brother, "Isaac and I are already divorced; the paperwork is done."

Julian’s expression turned to shock upon hearing this.

Natalie had told him before that she planned to divorce Isaac, but with all the back-and-forth, he never thought it would happen anytime soon, or even at all.

He truly didn’t expect this.

Julian squeezed Natalie’s shoulder gently, "It’s good that you’re divorced. Isaac was never right for you."

"I’m going home for a while; could you take care of Mom for another day? I’ll come to pick her up tomorrow."

Julian said and was about to leave, but was stopped by Natalie.

"Brother, do you know why Dad did what he did?"

With his back to Natalie, Julian’s gaze darkened.

He turned to look at Natalie, "You’ve known for a long time that Mom and Dad’s relationship had problems. Dad probably just acted on impulse, and I’ll talk to him when I go back."

"Was it really just an impulse?" Natalie pressed on, "I think Dad had it all planned out."

Julian remained silent.

Natalie continued, "Brother, you should go back. Don’t worry about me or rush to take Mom away."

"Alright," Julian replied in a hoarse voice and then turned to leave.

After he left, Natalie went to the guest room.

She knocked on the door but didn’t wait for Cynthia Kendall to respond before going in.

Cynthia was sitting on the bed, looking up at her.

"Where are you going today?"

Cynthia did not answer.

Natalie moved closer, "You shouldn’t go out carelessly. You should know he won’t let you go."

They both knew very well who "he" referred to.

After a long moment.

Suddenly, Cynthia spoke, "You want to know why Matthew is determined to send me to a sanatorium, don’t you?"

Natalie’s hands clenched quietly at her sides.

She had a vague idea about the answer.

It was almost within her reach.

Just waiting for Cynthia to reveal it.

"He wants to silence me. To silence my voice," Cynthia said with a cold sneer.
