Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 197: Accompanying Her to Sober Up
"Don’t tell me you’re planning to run away from the wedding."
Natalie said this expressionlessly.
Lucas was stunned at first, then widened his eyes after regaining his senses: "How could that be! It was so hard for me to marry my wife! I won’t ever want anyone but her in this lifetime! There’s no way I’d run away from the wedding!"
"No way! Ugh, ugh, ugh! It’s bad luck to talk about running away from the wedding!"
Just as Lucas finished speaking, the door to the lounge was suddenly pushed open.
"Mr. Lowell!"
"What’s going on! Did my wife run away?" Lucas, not quite knowing why he blurted this out, asked in a panic.
Natalie: "..."
Lucas’s secretary looked bewildered: "No, that’s not it, Mr. Lowell. It’s time to go out and greet the guests."
Lucas let out a sigh of relief, "You scared me to death!"
Natalie asked, "Are you still nervous now?"
Lucas shook his head.
And after he left with the secretary, Natalie suddenly remembered that he said he had something to confess to her, but hadn’t mentioned what it was.
——
The wedding ceremony venue was lavishly and romantically decorated.
Lucas stood by the emcee, constantly adjusting his breathing, his face as red as if he’d drunk a bottle of wine.
Natalie was seated at the front, locking eyes with him on stage. She mouthed for him to relax, and Lucas responded with an OK hand gesture, but then immediately wiped his sweat.
Before long.
The hall doors opened.
Accompanied by the entrance music.
Mia, in a white wedding dress, walked in slowly holding her father’s hand.
Natalie was used to seeing Mia in her rigid uniform and black-rimmed glasses, never expecting her to look so serene and beautiful once she was rid of them.
Honestly, when Natalie saw Mia in the lounge earlier, she really didn’t recognize her.
On stage.
Lucas was already crying.
Ignoring the kindly laughter from the audience below, he cried uninhibitedly.
Natalie took out her phone intending to capture Lucas’s embarrassing yet happy moment.
But when she opened her camera, it was in selfie mode, and at first glance, she saw herself, and at the second glance, she spotted Isaac sitting not far behind her.
Their eyes locked in the camera.
Natalie immediately put down her phone, at the same time sensing a burning gaze.
She thought she knew what Lucas wanted to confess to her.
Earlier, Lucas had even boasted to her about deliberately not sending Isaac an invitation to the wedding.
She knew Lucas had been discussing a business deal with The Grant Group, which meant dealing with Isaac.
Eventually, the ceremony concluded.
Ignoring Lucas’s tearful state looking like a mess, it was quite a success.
During the meal, Lucas came over and said to Natalie: "Why haven’t you switched seats yet? I’ve arranged for a groomsman for you over there."
Natalie originally didn’t want to change seats, having zero interest in the groomsmen Lucas mentioned.
But sitting here, she could always feel Isaac’s gaze, almost constantly.
"Got it."
She stood up with Lucas.
Lucas was delighted, "You finally came around. Come on!"
He pulled Natalie over to the other side, arranging for her to sit between two young men in groomsmen attire.
"Take good care of her for me."
After giving instructions to the two young groomsmen, Lucas eagerly returned to his wife’s side to shield her from drinks and charge ahead.
For Natalie’s sake, he didn’t even intend to let his own groomsmen help with the drinks, quite a sacrifice.
At this table, there were quite a few familiar faces to Natalie, people she’d met at various functions and meals.
So, drinking was inevitable.
Even with the help of the two groomsmen friends arranged by Lucas, she still ended up drinking several glasses herself.
Out of the two groomsmen, Natalie chatted more with the one on her left.
So, he volunteered to accompany her to sober up.
