Defying the Fate of Beheading-Chapter 512 - 285: Secrets Revealed, Prelude to the Final Battle
"It seems that everyone understands by now, the issue is no longer the conflict between you all."
Louis said heavily, "I don’t know if the Abyssal Church intentionally blocked your understanding of the basic rules of founding a nation back then."
"But now, none of the countries surrounding the Giant Plain would want to become the target of attacks from dimensional beings."
The Grand Chief sighed and said in a deep voice:
"Please wait for a moment, I need to specifically consult an elder regarding this matter."
He picked up the cane beside him and knocked it on the ground, causing the tent to tremble slightly.
Soon, a sapling suddenly broke through the ground, rapidly growing to several meters tall in just a few breaths.
A face full of wrinkles quickly emerged on the sturdy trunk.
Duke Prime Minister exclaimed in shock, "A Wisdom Tree?"
The Wisdom Tree is a member of the Elf Race.
The ecology of the Elf Race is somewhat special; their origin traces back to a time before a world shattered, to the World Tree that supported that world.
Later, they encountered a curse of flesh and blood, causing a substantial number of treefolk to transform into the elves of today.
But they soon discovered the benefits of having a physical body, leading a significant portion of elves to rapidly develop.
However, this development did not mean abandoning the original members of the race.
The ranks of the elves were filled with a considerable number of treefolk and Tree Demons, among which a unique few gained special powers over the long passage of time.
The Wisdom Tree is one such branch.
Having lived for a long enough time, many of them have witnessed most of the history of the elves, gaining wisdom that transcends time.
No one expected that the Giant Race still had contact with the Wisdom Tree.
In the Underground City, the relations between the Giant Race and the elven side had almost completely severed.
Apart from having the same origin, both parties have developed in completely different directions.
Yet, after the passage of time, the Giant Race reconnected with the Wisdom Tree.
Judging by the familiar rapport between the Grand Chief and the Wisdom Tree, it was evident that the Giant Demon Tribe had been secretly receiving support from the Wisdom Tree for some time.
"Lord Silence, I rudely invited you here to ask about one thing."
The Grand Chief said heavily, "Regarding the requirements for establishing a nation on Star Continent, is one of them the permanent guarding of space portals?"
The compassionate face on the trunk displayed a bit of confusion:
"Who told you it was the permanent guarding of space portals?"
The atmosphere in the tent became stagnant, and the giants inside glared angrily at the visitors from Tunisia, clearly believing they were being deceived.
However, in the next moment, the Wisdom Tree awkwardly said:
"Oh, you’re talking about this thing. It’s only been like this for the past 200 years; if you go back 200 years, the requirement to found a nation was to establish a permanent guard."
"If you gave up on guarding the space portals, it would be tantamount to abandoning sovereignty, and the mainstream nations of the continent would likely refuse to consider such a force as a nation."
"During the era of the ancient Demigod Pact, it was even more so."
"Back then, if space portals weren’t guarded, races emerging from the Underground City couldn’t gain the World’s Will’s recognition."
The Grand Chief gulped down with difficulty, coughed, and said:
"Lord Silence, now it’s only required to have a long-term guard to solve the issue."
The Wisdom Tree said calmly, "I understand, which is why I say things are different now than they were back in the Elf Realm era, where life was sacrificed to plug the breach."
"So in these two hundred years, you haven’t slackened in guarding the space portals, right?"
The Grand Chief sighed, "I haven’t heard of this from the previous tribal union."
The Wisdom Tree frowned and said, "Now that you mention it, it reminds me that starting from the end of the Overlord Era, you seemed to lose the relevant knowledge about the importance of guarding space portals due to various reasons."
Louis was taken aback.
The Overlord Era mentioned by the Wisdom Tree actually refers to the period when the Elf Realm became the dominant force of the era.
Even today, the Elf Race is filled with fond nostalgia for that pinnacle era.
Thus, they avoid calling it the end of the Elf Realm and instead subtly refer to it as the end of the Overlord Era.
— They do not believe the Elf Realm has disappeared, merely splintered into various branches, disagreeing internally.
Thusly...
Louis interjected, "Honorable Wisdom Tree, by the end of the Overlord Era, the elves and the giants had already parted ways."
"Did this more frequent phenomena occur after the separation?"
The Wisdom Tree glanced at him, pondered, and said, "Yes, the timelines basically match."
Louis smacked his forehead, feeling the problem become troublesome.
Within the Giant Demon Tribe, the atmosphere grew more solemn.
Evidently, some of the giants knew their ancestral history and quickly formed a link.
Louis had learned certain secrets from Little Swan.
These were things Joseph Williams had told Little Swan, who then relayed them to him.
He believed Beatrice should be aware, but Little Swan and he were not.
Judging by the timeline, the fall of the Elf Realm was influenced by multiple factors.
The Elf Realm’s last Elf King suddenly died in a rampage while devouring the fifth great sin, as told by Master Merlin’s history.
— This led Master Green to conclude that even a Demigod can bear at most four great sins.
