Delayed Passion: Miss Lynch's Unrequited Love-Chapter 53: Murder
Thea Lynch said, "Third brother, you can do it, venting behind backs is one thing, but even the closest family member becomes your target. Not even sparing your own brother."
"Precisely because Sean Bell is my cousin, I know exactly what kind of person he is."
Ian Preston had no intention of intimidation or instigation. After all, they all grew up together, especially Sean Bell and Thea Lynch, who were of similar age and shared the longest time together. If he hadn’t sensed something, there was no need to share these words with Thea Lynch.
"Then tell us, third brother, what kind of person exactly is fifth brother?" Thea Lynch showed interest, propping her chin with one hand, smiling at him.
She’s probably genuinely calmed down, her condition now is much better than when she first arrived at the hospital, showing no signs of tension.
Ian Preston looked at her deeply and after a long pause, said, "When you guys were in high school in Coronet, during the incident when he beat up someone, you were there."
It was neither a question nor an exploration, the man’s tone was extremely confident, as if he had witnessed the bloody scene himself.
Thea Lynch raised an eyebrow unexpectedly, "Did fifth brother tell you? Or was it caught on surveillance?"
An accident happened in her family during her sophomore year, and she later went to Westmere. Before that, during her freshman year, Sean Bell was a senior at the same school.
On the day of the incident, the school’s surveillance experienced issues. Apart from Sean Bell and the student who was assaulted, no one witnessed the proceedings.
Later, the assaulted student developed a psychological shadow, avoiding discussion of that day, claiming to be terrified by Sean Bell. As for Sean Bell, the other party involved, he never mentioned it either.
No matter who inquired, Sean Bell only had one response: "The beating is done, why do you care so much about the process? Why? Don’t like him. Do you like that reason? If not, I can make up another one?"
No one knew why Sean Bell would hit so hard. This matter had always been a mystery.
Later, the Bell Family compensated some money, and the Preston Family suppressed the matter. However, the Bell Family elders were still concerned it might affect him, so Sean Bell couldn’t attend college in Coronet.
Rumor had it that Sean Bell was supposed to be sent abroad back then, but he didn’t agree, ultimately going to study in the South.
—
"Do you really believe the surveillance malfunction that day was a coincidence?" Ian Preston countered.
"..."
With these words, Thea Lynch instantly understood. She sat up slightly straighter, and the smile on her face faded.
"I thought it was Sean Bell’s doing, turns out it was third brother’s handiwork."
The surveillance malfunctioned precisely at that location on that day, how is that possible? She initially didn’t believe it could be such a coincidence, but later assumed Sean Bell was behind it. Unexpectedly, it was Ian Preston.
Sean Bell’s parents couldn’t step in, and his grandparents were elderly. At that time, the one who showed up was Ian Preston, hastily returned from abroad.
So throughout the whole ordeal, it was Ian Preston who handled it.
Turns out from the very beginning, he knew the surveillance was intact, never revealing and even helped cover it up for them.
"Otherwise?" Ian Preston mentioned this matter and couldn’t suppress his anger. He glanced at her, his voice somewhat cold: "He messes around, do you follow along with his chaos?"
Thea Lynch knew she was in the wrong, being scolded without arguing, accepting it silently.
"Why aren’t you speaking?"
Ian Preston didn’t think he was too harsh with his previous words, he had already been restrained. Otherwise, he would’ve settled "accounts" with her years ago.
"Say what?" This person is really strange.
Thea Lynch hung her head, "I was wrong in the first place, what can I say?"
"But, how was I supposed to know he’d go this mad."
This matter is a long story.
Back when they attended high school in Coronet, there was a student council president at their school, who ended up being the boy who was beaten.
It happened during a New Year’s Gala, she had a performance. When changing clothes backstage, she discovered a very tiny camera. Although it didn’t capture any particularly revealing scenes.
She still reported the matter to the school, hoping they could find the person who installed the camera.
The school asked her for these items, but since she wasn’t the only female being filmed, she planned to first find each one before turning the items over.
Within about two days, someone approached her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the school nor the filmed girls.
Rather, it was the person filming.
The boy’s aim was clear, appearing to plead, to apologize, but actually he only wanted the evidence she had.
The boy couldn’t possibly know the items were in her possession, it must’ve been the school’s complicity. Later, she argued with the boy, who initially pushed her. As for how Sean Bell appeared, she didn’t know.
It seemed to happen instantly, before she realized, Sean Bell had already grabbed the boy by the collar, tossing him against the wall.
Seeing Sean Bell arrive gave her a sense of relief. In anger, she also struck the boy. Sean Bell asked what was going on, she hesitated for a moment, then explained the situation to him.
Then terror ensued, as she was preparing to leave and contact the few found girls to report, a sudden wail sounded from behind. Turning back, blood was already visible on the ground.
Without giving her a chance to intervene, Sean Bell was hitting hard, the boy didn’t have a shred of resistance left.
She didn’t expect things to escalate this way. She didn’t expect Sean Bell would absolve her entirely, insisting she wasn’t present.
"What difference would it make if I said I was there? He hit first, my strike didn’t hit hard. Besides, it was for me that you took action against him."
Sean Bell replied, "What does this have to do with you? When did I say I was hitting him for you?"
"He should thank you instead, if it weren’t for your last-minute stop, I wouldn’t have spared him at all."
"If you dare disobey, next time I’ll be hitting you."
"..."
Later, Sean Bell left Coronet. Trouble arose at her home too, cutting off their contact temporarily. Until she moved to Westmere, and he visited her during vacation from school.
The scene back then, she was right there, it was bloody and violent. In her childhood, she often saw boys in the yard fighting, it seemed normal, but those acts were more playful, while that time Sean Bell couldn’t simply be described as a fight.
It was murder.
Hence, there was a period when she also had a psychological shadow concerning Sean Bell.
Growing up, Sean Bell wasn’t particularly good nor bad towards her; his mood highly unpredictable, making his thoughts hard to gauge. She always found him peculiar, deeply hypocritical. Truth be said, he truly was a psycho.
Especially after the incident, the image of a psycho was firmly rooted in her heart.
Ultimately, Sean Bell’s actions largely stemmed from her, which she understood well. Therefore, when Sean Bell visited her in Westmere, her attitude remained amiable.
Later, she found him bothersome and didn’t want to deal with him; mainly due to his neurotic tendencies, often saying unpleasant things, only satisfied when seeing her upset.
[Author’s Note: Sean Bell is a pure daredevil psycho, capable of anything, without reason.]
