Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Concede

"Who is it?"

"All secretive, what’s up, do we know each other?"

"Quit playing games, out with it already!"

The messages in the group were flooding in quickly, and Thea Lynch was drawn in.

After keeping everyone in suspense, that person finally replied slowly, "It’s someone from The Bell Family, didn’t see that coming, did you?"

"..."

As soon as those words were spoken, the group fell into dead silence. Two or three minutes later, someone responded, "Are you sure? Don’t make stuff up. Silas is in the group."

After the reminder, the person quickly withdrew the message.

The other person then realized Silas Cheney was still in the group, but unfortunately, the message couldn’t be retracted anymore, "I heard it’s someone from The Bell Family, the license plate matches, it should be... right?"

Regrettably, no one chimed in in agreement.

About a minute passed, and suddenly someone mentioned him, "What’s the license plate number, do you have a photo?"

Seeing this unfamiliar white avatar, the person hesitated, "That’s not good."

Silas was in the group, and he didn’t dare to send anything recklessly.

"Silas won’t come after you, he’ll only come after me."

The person hesitated for a moment before finally posting the photo. He also needed to prove himself, not just talking nonsense—he really had photographic evidence.

"This was sent to me by someone else."

"Thanks."

"You can’t circulate this photo carelessly, I’m not responsible if something happens. By the way, who are you, haven’t seen you around before?"

After a few seconds, the white avatar flashed, replying with two words: "Thea Lynch."

"..."

Stratus, cafeteria. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Foreman Chandler returned after fetching food, "Foreman Lynch, why didn’t you get any roast goose? I see today’s roast goose looks pretty good, hurry..."

Before he could finish, Thea Lynch stood up. Foreman Chandler thought she was going to get a serving, lifting his hand to point her in the direction.

"I suddenly have an urgent matter, won’t be able to eat. Not sure what time I’ll be back this afternoon, if there’s anything urgent, just contact me by phone anytime." Thea said and left.

Foreman Chandler couldn’t even get a word in, by the time he followed her with his gaze, Thea Lynch had already exited the cafeteria doors.

Upon leaving the cafeteria, Thea Lynch didn’t return to the office to grab her bag, but instead called Sean Bell while walking.

Not surprisingly, no one answered. She then tried Silas, with no response either, maybe he didn’t hear or it was intentional.

Thea Lynch browsed the work group, asking if anyone saw Silas come to Stratus today.

Soon, Silas’s secretary popped up with a reply: "Foreman Lynch, Mr. Cheney is not at the company today."

No choice, finally, Thea Lynch had to call Ian Preston.

Listening to the busy signal in her ear, Thea Lynch felt a bit anxious. Planning to go back to the courtyard first, just as she opened the ride-hailing app, Ian Preston’s call came back.

Her finger paused, she immediately pressed to accept, "Third Brother."

"Hmm, what’s up?" Ian Preston already knew, if Thea could reach someone else, she definitely wouldn’t call him unless it was very urgent.

He wasn’t her first choice.

"Sean Bell crashed into Norbert Rhodes driving last night, did you know about this?"

"I know."

"Fourth Brother knows too?"

"Hmm."

"..." Thea Lynch pursed her lips, "Why didn’t anyone tell me?"

"It’s not something important." The implication was there was no need to tell her.

"What’s the situation exactly? I see Norbert Rhodes is injured, what about Sean Bell?"

"He’s not seriously injured." After a pause, Ian Preston added coldly, "Even if he’s hurt, he deserves it."

With just that remark, Thea Lynch was even more convinced of her inner suspicions.

From the moment she saw the group message, she had a bad feeling.

Originally, she didn’t pay much mind to Norbert’s accident, as his injuries weren’t heavy, not warranting a special visit. Otherwise, it would be endlessly complicated in the future.

But never did she expect that this incident was related to Sean Bell.

Clutching the phone tightly, Thea Lynch’s throat felt like it was swallowing blades, her voice rough as she spoke, "Sean Bell he..."

"It’s none of your concern."

Thea Lynch instinctively wanted to argue but suddenly felt powerless.

"If the cold is too unbearable, just go back to rest, don’t push yourself. I’ll send medicine over later."

He could tell something was wrong from her tone.

Thea Lynch: "Are you all at the courtyard now?"

Ian Preston didn’t reply.

His silence was the best answer, Thea Lynch took a deep breath, "I’m heading over now."

Without giving Ian Preston a chance to stop her, Thea Lynch directly hung up.

——

Courtyard.

Silas Cheney watched Ian Preston putting down the phone, his expression not looking good. "What did she say?"

Thea Lynch, such a clever person, as soon as he saw her call earlier, he knew her purpose and didn’t want to answer for fear of not being able to keep it hidden.

In the end, that girl went around asking persistently until she got the answer.

Through the window, Ian Preston silently looked out at the yard.

Sean Bell, still in the same clothes, white shirt faintly showing traces of blood, knelt there, proudly straight-backed, unchanged from before, with no sense of remorse.

Another call came through for Silas Cheney, he glanced at the caller ID, put on a smiling face, and answered.

"Commissioner Wang, oh apologies. Yes, it’s fine, we’ve already visited The Rhodes Family side, nothing major, thank you for your trouble. Leave the rest to me, don’t worry. I’ll host you for a meal someday."

"No need for courtesy between us, just a meal, alright, alright, you go ahead with your work."

Ending the call, Silas’s smile vanished instantly.

With a stern face, he clicked his tongue, "Great, now we owe a favor. That Sean Bell, really always up to no good."

This incident seemed minor, a regular traffic accident, unavoidably colliding, people uninjured, all personally known, settling it privately.

But the troublesome part was, in the surveillance footage, Sean Bell was tailing repeatedly, suddenly accelerating, there seemed to be an intentional aspect.

Everyone in The Coronet Circle knows who Sean Bell is.

To avoid any unnecessary trouble, he’d been dealing with Sean Bell’s messes since last night.

This kid, causing chaos as soon as he returned.

Following Ian Preston’s gaze outside, Silas sighed.

Despite being upset, still couldn’t help softening for him.

"Third Brother, let him come inside first. Fortunately, it’s not too severe this time."

Though another visit to check on Norbert Rhodes would be needed later.

Ian Preston certainly wouldn’t go, Sean Bell wouldn’t either. So ultimately, the task would fall on him.

"This kid’s mind was never right, why bother with him?" Silas glanced at the time, "Once Grandpa Bell returns, he’ll only worry."

Despite half a day convincing, Ian Preston remained unmoved.

Silas didn’t dare make assumptions, just stayed nearby.

Half an hour passed, Ian Preston shifted slightly, suddenly got up and walked outside. Seeing this, Silas quickly followed.

Hearing the commotion, Sean Bell raised his head slightly.

Though without obvious injuries like Norbert Rhodes, his bones also ached. However, his expression stayed composed, showing no signs of injury.

He looked at Ian Preston standing before him, Silas on the side signaling him with raised eyebrows, meaning to urge him to be submissive.
