Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 383: Harvest (6)
Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Harvest (6)
The vampire fang was about half a finger long, its tip sharp, and the whole of it possessed the smooth color of jadestone. At a glance, it was difficult to associate such an object with the evil of a vampire.
It felt cool to the touch, and against the gleam of sunlight, one could faintly see blood-like threads hidden within the tooth.
Lusfan was not a pure vampire. His awakened bloodline was quite special and bore similarities to the legendary vampires, although it seemed he had acquired a piece of bone from Anna by chance.
He implanted this bone into his own body, hence starting his pathway to metamorphosis.
Both Lusfan and William, compared to orthodox Transcendents, followed a more peculiar and perilous journey.
Picking up the cloak from the ground, most of its Dark Energy had been absorbed by the Cursed Sword. The pure black cloak had dulled a bit in color, turning to a shade of grey overall.
[Dark Curtain]
Absorbing souls and Essence Blood, once released, it could form an isolation zone within a certain range based on the Dark Energy contained. In this zone, it will block the entry of others and suppress activities of other energies, except for Dark Energy.
Once the Energy is depleted, the artifact requires another sacrifice of souls and Essence Blood before it can be used again.
"This truly is an evil thing," Roger couldn’t help exclaiming. He grasped the Cursed Sword that was stabbed into the ground, the evil and dark consciousness invading his brain.
In the previous battles, Roger had expended a lot of his spiritual power. Now suddenly assaulted by this force, he nearly lost his composure. He inspected the sword closely, noticing a fine line of blood running from the tip to the hilt on the initially black Cursed Sword, which was now emanating a faint red glow.
The black smoke shrouding the sword had become as thick as a liquid, and Roger always felt as if something was struggling within, trying to break free from the Cursed Sword’s control.
"No, this thing’s influence is too great!"
The sudden surge in Dark Energy made it quite difficult for Roger to wield the weapon. He then remembered what Anna had done and, with an idea in mind, donned the grey cloak over himself while holding the sword with both hands, slowly closing his eyes.
With a thought, the flow of Dark Energy from the Cursed Sword was pulled into the cloak.
The cloak turned from grey to black, shining with a darker hue.
Correspondingly, as the Dark Energy within the Cursed Sword reduced, Roger gradually suppressed the malevolent thoughts surging in his mind.
When he opened his eyes again, the surface of the Cursed Sword’s black energy had become dim, and Roger regained control over it.
"These two items..."
Pinching the black cloak draped over him, Roger realized that there might be an inevitable connection between these two Cursed Items he had acquired.
This synergistic ability was not by chance.
Perhaps they originated from a complete set of more powerful Cursed Items.
Maybe they belonged to a much stronger High Tier vampire.
Was it Anna?
Roger furrowed his brows.
Unfortunately, Anna, who had obtained the other piece of bone, fell into a deeper slumber once more, and this time her sleep was even more profound.
Partly because she had helped Roger accelerate the formation of Lusfan’s vampire fang, damaging some of her vital energy, and partly because she needed to expel the residual Energy from Lusfan that lingered on the bone.
Moreover, having collected an entire arm and a full Leg Bone, it seemed she had reached a certain threshold; there might be new changes occurring to Anna.
Without the influence of the Darkness Curtain, the morning sunlight bathed the front lawn of the estate, its warm rays dispersing some of the exhaustion from the battle.
"There’s plenty of work to do next."
Henrik looked at the large hole that had been torn in the wall of the estate; for an ordinary house, it might be easily mended. However, inside the estate lay a special Cursed Item.
The damage to this object, if it were to be repaired, could prove exceedingly troublesome.
It might become a permanent flaw.
Henrik had hardly taken any damage; he dutifully ran to Claudia’s side. During the recent battle, if it weren’t for Claudia’s desperate protection, he would likely have been torn to pieces by the enraged Lusfan.
Indeed, before he died, Lusfan would have made sure to torture Henrik thoroughly – the pain he had suffered would have to be repaid in double on Henrik’s body.
"Seeing my battle form, you’re not even a little bit afraid of me?" Despite the numerous scars on her body, not a single stain marred Claudia’s perfect face.
Henrik flashed a toothy grin.
"I’ve already seen the spikes on your body. Though indeed hard to get used to, I don’t think you’d want to expose your body’s spikes all the time, right?"
He supported Claudia by the arm.
"I’ve seen yours, maybe one day I’ll show you mine."
It was unclear whether Claudia completely misunderstood the meaning of Henrik’s words or if she simply didn’t care about such provocative language.
She just smiled, her graceful eyebrows knitting together.
"What’s wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?"
"Maybe I can help you check."
Henrik said with a concerned look on his face.
Claudia shook her head, her expression not one of pain but rather a trace of surprise.
"It’s nothing, let’s go back."
Roger touched the cloak draped over his shoulders, holding the Cursed Sword, and gained a new understanding of the cloak he was wearing.
With a thought, the black cloak tightened suddenly and then transformed into a proper black tailcoat covering Roger’s body.
"This thing..."
Roger was pleased, as the clothes transformed from the cloak felt of a very special material and presumably offered much more defensive power than ordinary garments.
The black tailcoat was not suitable for casual wear, so soon the clothes on his body changed again, becoming a fitted jacket.
"Click!"
Sword sheathed, Roger walked towards the nearby house.
"Roger!"
Goway had a ball of energy ready in her hand, seemingly prepared for battle at any moment. Seeing Roger enter the room, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"It’s over."
Goway’s face was pale; during last night’s battle, she had lost the Companion Treants that were very important to her. After a night of turmoil, suddenly relaxing, she nearly couldn’t stand.
"Wait a moment, after I deal with this corpse, I’ll take you to rest."
Roger approached William’s headless body. In a brief amount of time, the strong-bodied William had been drained of all his Essence Blood and had become a shriveled and diminutive corpse.
On the surface of his body lay a resplendent Gold Coin, glinting brilliantly, quietly resting there.
Having witnessed the strangeness of this item, Roger didn’t reach out to touch it directly. Instead, he found a box, flicked the Gold Coin into it, and sealed it instantly.
He had made up his mind that as soon as he entered the Hunter’s Cabin, he would submit this item right away.
Such things seemed powerful, but they were too dangerous to use.
After completing all this, he then took Goway to an unoccupied room upstairs.
Having walked only a few steps, he heard the sound of the room’s door being locked from the inside, and it seemed as though an odd energy covered the wooden door.
Roger looked back at the firmly closed door, let out a low hum, a faint smile forming on his lips as he turned and left.
