Chapter 35: Darkness Bullet

Just like how Blake used the myriad of darkness tendrils spell for his marking spell, of course, he had also tweaked other darkness spells, including the first realm’s darkness binding spell so that it would be viable to be used together with his marking spell.

In the past weeks, Blake had stayed in the demon realm, there’s not a single day that Blake didn’t mess around with the demonic runes. Either he was trying to create a new spell, creating a new rune formation, or just simply daydreaming about the combinations of spells that might be possible for him to use.

He might have not used some of the spells often since the basic spells that used the darkness tendrils were already enough for him, but in this situation where just simply casting a darkness tendril spell to pierce through the huge crow wasn’t an easy feat due to its high speed and agility, Blake had to think of something else to do damage to the crow.

Just like his earlier thoughts, Blake would try to damage the crow’s wings first as it was one of the most significant body parts of the crow. The wings were the ones that gave it the ability to fly tens of meters in a second and dodge its most destructive spell. If he took the wings out, then the difficulty level of the fight with the crow would go down from boss mode to toddler mode.

Of course, hitting the crow’s head or heart would be much more beneficial since it would be instant death if either of the two were destroyed, but the real question was whether he could do it. Even hitting its huge body was already difficult, let alone aiming for specific targets on its body.

Blake chased after the huge crow that was flying in circles and waited at the right position where he could see the crow relatively clear without being too close that the crow could easily spot him.

Blake patiently waited for the exact moment when the crow was flying right in front of him, while his right hand was already drawing more demonic runes. It was a different rune from the usual runes that he drew, which means that Blake was casting a different spell that he rarely used before.

.....

But the runes weren’t unnecessarily complicated as it was also one of the basic spells from the darkness element. Vera called the spell the ‘converging ball of darkness’ spell, but when Blake used the spell himself and saw how the spell worked, Blake decided to rename it as Darkness Bullet. And he was currently casting a single darkness bullet towards the crow to see how it would fare against the crow’s high speed and agility.

Just as its original name implied, it was just a simple spell where the caster converged the darkness element into a single point until it was dense enough that it could do physical damage to anything that it made contact with before launching it towards a certain direction and the bullet would flying straight into the said direction, and hitting anything that dares to stand in its way.

But of course, Blake didn’t just launch the original spell, he tweaked a few things here and there and added a few runes.

The moment his right hand finished drawing the darkness bullet runes, the runes flashed for a moment before a golf-sized ball of darkness appeared from the middle of the drawn runes and flew straight towards the huge crow.

Upon the darkness bullet leaving Blake’s hand, the crow was already moving in another direction, away from the trajectory of the darkness bullet, and it would definitely miss its target if it were to continue moving straight forward.

‘Well, marksmanship was never really my best suit...’ Blake thought as he saw his incredibly awful aim. He could do quite well when he was targeting a fixed target that didn’t move, but aiming for a moving target was a whole different thing and it required much more skill, especially when the target moved so fast like the huge crow. 𝒇𝘳ℯℯ𝚠𝙚𝑏𝗻𝑜ѵ𝑒𝙡.co𝑚

However, just as marksmanship wasn’t his forte, “Luckily, I am quite good with demonic spells.” Blake muttered.

When the darkness bullet was about to fly past the huge crow and flew straight into the reddish sky, it suddenly changed its direction as if it was being pulled by something.

And uncoincidentally, the direction that it was currently flying to was none other than the huge crow, or more precisely, the mark that was still attached to the back of the crow’s body, in the middle of its wings.

The original darkness bullet spell could only fly in a straight line. However, Blake, who wanted to make his original marking spell to be as useful as possible, of course, tweaked the other spells that he knew so that they could also be used with the marking spell. Turning the darkness bullet into a homing darkness bullet.

With the speed of the darkness bullet spell not much less than the huge crow, the spell soon caught up with the huge crow when the crow was turning and slightly losing its speed.

The darkness bullet twisted and turned in the air before it finally hit the mark, and created a small hole in between the crow’s huge body and blood started seeping out of the crow’s back.

The crow, who was starting to be paranoid after failing to find any creatures even after flying and searching for some time, didn’t expect that it would suddenly feel a stinging pain on its back, right where it felt the poke before, and released a resounding caw that traveled far throughout the forest.

Rather than just a poke that it could just shrug off, this time, it was a real pain that had actually drawn its blood. It wasn’t a huge, fatal wound as the bullet couldn’t even pierce through the crow’s huge body, but it was certainly strong enough to deal damage to the crow’s body.

Different from the myriad darkness tendrils spell where a considerably huge amount of nether, enough to create hundreds of darkness tendrils gathered around the crow’s body, the darkness bullet was just a single darkness element ball, hence the crow couldn’t detect the ball of darkness coming in its way.

And once again, it turned its body 180 degrees by doing a flying maneuver where it moved its wings closer to its body so that the crow could turn its body faster to see what had caused the pain that it just felt.

But with Blake hiding its body again in the back of the tree trunk the moment the bullet was about to hit the crow’s body, there’s no way the crow could see past the thick tree trunk and spot Blake, who had no problem fighting in a ‘cowardly’ way according to Robus.

And after some time, the crow had finally given up searching in that direction and that was when Blake decided to come out of his hiding place.

‘It could hit it...’ Blake muttered as he heard the loud caw earlier.

Blake’s face visibly lit up in excitement as half of his mouth curved into a smirk.

“It’s time to spam this skill until either my fingers fall off or the crow has a gaping hole in the middle of its body!”
