Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 23: Killing Monsters
Chapter 23: Killing Monsters
The monster was still alive, though clearly weakened. Its movements were jerky, and purple fluid dripped from its protrusion.
Flain took advantage of this. He sprinted forward, tossed one of his swords into the air, pushed off a rocky ledge, and caught the falling blade mid-jump. With all his strength, he drove it downward straight into the creature's central eye.
The sword sank deep.
[+440 EXP]
[+Evolution Shard]
The humanoid's body collapsed to the ground, its protrusions retracting.
Seeing how much EXP he had gained immediately lifted his spirits—even if it was just 40 EXP more, it was still big progress. That meant this monster was stronger than the Lizard Commander he had previously killed. So if he went one-on-one against the Black Commander, he should theoretically be able to win even without luck.
On top of that, the monster had dropped an Evolution Shard, which was also great. Flain was quite interested in trying out evolution.
He sat down—he only had 15 HP left, which was far from ideal for fighting at this level of the cave. He needed to fully regenerate.
Flain definitely wasn't going any deeper. If he encountered even a slightly stronger enemy, he would most likely lose, and that was not an option.
After an hour and 37 minutes, his HP was finally full. The more HP he had, the longer he had to wait. Of course, he could train while waiting since training didn't consume HP, but in this situation, he couldn't. The cave had an echo, and if he swung his swords around for over an hour straight, it might attract unwanted attention.
Flain continued exploring at the same cave level without going deeper. He encountered a skeleton that seemed slightly stronger, as it granted him 150 EXP. Then he came across another one of those insectoid monsters. This time, it only took 100 HP from him, as it was still very fast for Flain. However, he handled the fight against the insectoid much better than the first time. He gained 370 EXP from it.
As he walked further through the cave, he spotted a new monster ahead—one he hadn't seen before. It resembled some kind of animal. It stood on four legs, covered in thick, long, unkempt beige fur. It was about 150 centimeters tall. From its head, two long, pointed horns protruded, and below them, a large mouth filled with sharp crystal teeth.
The creature noticed Flain and started backing away slowly—but only for a moment. Its eyes suddenly turned red, and with a deep growl, it charged straight at him.
Flain reacted—he jumped to the side, but the creature's claws still managed to scratch the side of his armor.
[-30 HP]
Flain quickly turned and struck with his swords. The blades sank into the thick fur, and the monster let out a pained growl. It spun sharply and swung its head, hitting Flain with its horn, which embedded itself in his chest.
[-65 HP]
The beast charged again, but Flain leaped into the air and landed directly on its back.
With swords in hand, he began slashing and stabbing aggressively into the monster's back. The creature thrashed furiously and eventually threw Flain off. He hit the ground but immediately rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the claws that dug into the spot where he had just been lying.
Flain jumped back—the monster looked bad. It was covered in blood, wounds all over its body, yet it still seemed full of energy.
Flain sprinted forward, slid underneath the beast, and drove both of his swords into its belly. The blades sank deep, and he began stabbing furiously. The monster tried to run, but it didn't get far—just a few centimeters away from Flain, it collapsed to the ground, dead.

[+370 EXP]
Flain stood up and looked at its corpse. It was slightly stronger than the crystal monster but weaker than the insectoid one.
He sat down again to regenerate HP—115 HP was not ideal. What if he encountered another monster as strong as that humanoid? He would definitely die.
Flain waited for his HP to recover before continuing. Soon, he encountered another monster—once again, it was the same beast as before. This time, Flain lost 70 HP when the monster managed to ram its horns hard into his chest. In the end, Flain killed it with the same tactic as its "brother"—sliding under its belly and slicing it open. He gained another 370 EXP.
Once again, Flain sat down to regenerate. Healing in a place like this was tedious—there was nothing to do but sit and wait. It was a good time for thinking, but Flain had already thought about so many things during his previous regenerations that he had nothing left to contemplate. Not that he cared—he would wait billions of years if it meant fulfilling his goal.
Once he was fully healed, a thought from his homeworld pierced his mind. "Your fate was sealed the moment you dared to touch me," Flain whispered, his eyes flashing maniacally.
Flain had enough EXP for the next level, but he decided to level up during his next fight to take advantage of [Extremely Powerthirsty]. Once the battle began, all he had to do was land one or two hits, and the monster would be dead.
He continued onward, walking for about twenty minutes before encountering another monster—an insectoid one. It wasn't paying attention to Flain, so he quickly leveled up.

Then Flain dashed toward the monster. It noticed him and immediately started swooping at him.
He swung at it but missed—it was incredibly hard to hit. Then an idea struck him. He sprinted toward the cave wall, climbed to the same height as the monster, and launched himself off with all his strength. The sheer force of his jump cracked the cave wall, causing it to tremble. A rockslide wouldn't be good...
