Desire's Vessel: My Lewd Reincarnation-Chapter 42: A Divine Challenge 3
It was as if the desert reacted to the name of the lewd god. The sun overhead flickered, only once but it was enough to be noticed.
Zaja tilted the blade, resting it casually on his shoulder. Blood trickled down his forearm, evaporating into smoke before it touched the sand.
"Relax," he said lightly. "I borrowed it... didn’t steal it."
It was at this exact moment that helios moved with now warning or build up. The spear vanished and reappeared mid thrust and plasma screaming towards zaja’s throat with absolute intent to erase, kill or decapitate.
Zaja barely had time to breathe. The violent sound of his steel meeting the plasma could be heard from thousands of miles in any direction of the desert.
The impact denoted, a shockwave tore outward, flattening dunes for miles and miles, liquefyig sand into rivers of molten gold. Zaja skidded backward, his boots carving trenches through glassed ground, arms scremaing as his Shadow Fire poured its essence into the blade to keep it from melting out of existence.
Helios didn’t stop there, he pressed on with relentless, surgical and even as one would like to think... divine attacks. Striking like a licing sunstorm with thrust, sweep, knee, elbow and each movement precise and almost ancient as if perfected through centuries of slaughter, with every clash ringin like a bell forged inside a dying star.
Zaja had no choise than to block, parry and twist. Barely escaping each intentional attack aimed at his life, for if he lost here, he would loose his tomorrow and will be a literal slave for the sun god.
A kick caught zaja;s side, fight on the ribs sending him flying and hitting the ground rolling.
The vessel came up coughing smoke and his chest heaving with his armourless skin blistered and split. Unlike humans, the god didn’t gloat on his temprary victory, he advanced and aimed to compound on it to win this battle.
"You wield relics beyond your station," the god said calmly. "And still you fall."
Zaja spat blood, wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and laughed subtlly or a chuckle more so.
"Yeah," he said hoarsely. "That’s usually how boss fights start."
He swung his blade nonchalantly to the side and his eyes flashed red. "Egar... Naga..."
Egar surged forward first, the massive bear-beast roaring as red energies wrapped its frame like molten armour. It hit helios head on with its claws slamming into divine plating, forcing the god to brace for the first time.
Naga followed immediately by coiling and sending iteself underneath the surface of the sandy floor and reappearing behind Helios in a blur of black and red hot scolching scales and crimson eyes. Its fangs sank toward the gods shoulder and venom screamed with sizzle as it tried to coruppt the living, divine flame.
For the first time in the battle, helios seemed somewhat irritated and snarled. He tore free from egar’s grip with a burst of solar force, backhanding the bear hard enough to send it tumbling across the dunes, then twisted, spear flashing as he impaled straight through naga’s neck.
The massive serpent howled and thrashed loudly, zaja could feel the pain seering in his head, the pain originating from his favourite red veil arcane beast. This was the first time in a long time he had seen naga injured and not to mention the fact naga hasn’t really had much of a fighting cchance as he was facing a literal god.
Zaja on the other hand had created a great deal of space between him and the fight, hiding behind a mounting of sand, he dropped to a crouch as his breathing was now ragged with minor burns and cracked ribs being the main cause of his bodily pains. They were nothing fatal but against a god, nothing fatal wasn’t enough, because he really needed those three wishes.
Ding!
Time seemed to slow around him as he summoned the Desire System’s interface.
Zaja’s vision filled with menus, item lists scrolling rapidly as explosions and divine roars echoed faintly in the background.
"Come on... come on..." he muttered, his eyes darting through the list of items in the systems shop.
Some items seemed to capture his intrests, but they werent really going to help his current state, not to mention they were too expensive some of them worth over 20 million Desire points.
Regeneration vials were just not going to work, they worked too slow for this kind of situation.
Divine salves were extremely expensive and his Desire Points balance was nowhere near the price.
Temporary vitality boosters was also too expensive.
Helios roared again as egar slammed into him once more, buying seconds at the cost of flesh and shadow fire essence.
Zaja’s jaw clenched. "Think," he whispered. "I don’t need something perfect, I just need something now..."
And as faith would have it, the system seemed to understand what he needed and the list flickered slight and something caught his eye, this made his smile to return with a sharp and dangerous tint to it.
"Oh, that’ll do..."
