Desolate Devouring Art-Chapter 1005 - Peerless Sword
Chapter 1005 - Peerless Sword
Miao Feiyu didn't treat Liu Wuxie as an outsider and genuinely sought his advice on blacksmithing. Perhaps the problem had troubled him for years, and despite all his attempts, he had failed to resolve it.
After witnessing Liu Wuxie's forging technique, he saw a glimmer of hope and decided to consult him.
"Senior Miao, I'm impressed with your skills. It's difficult to achieve what you have with ancient blacksmithing techniques, but..." Liu Wuxie wasn't being polite. Miao Feiyu had achieved something he himself could not.
Forging such a formidable sword with only ancient blacksmithing techniques took incredible skill. Liu Wuxie couldn't possibly master everything, and his forging methods differed from the traditional craft. Each path had its strengths, and no one could say for sure which was superior.
"Enough with the flatteries. Just get to the point," Miao Feiyu cut to the chase.
The old manor lord had ventured deep into the wilderness to search for a rare material, but a ten-thousand-year python had mortally wounded him, and he had died shortly after.
That material was crucial to the Renowned Sword Manor as the last hope. Not only had they failed to reclaim their glory, but they had even lost their old manor lord in the process.
The Renowned Sword Manor had failed to produce a famous sword for years, which had caused its fame to decline. They would have to forge a peerless sword to confront the problem and turn the situation around.
Meanwhile, the First Sword Manor had forged the Supreme Harmony Sword and several others in recent years. Though the later swords didn't match the Supreme Harmony Sword, they still held formidable power.
The memory filled Miao Feiyu with guilt every time he thought of it. He had once ranked as the most talented blacksmith of his generation in the Renowned Sword Manor and had undergone the strictest training from a young age. But one reckless attempt had ruined his future.
"Then, I'll do my best to offer some suggestions," Liu Wuxie said. He walked over to the broken sword and picked it up, weighing it briefly before taking a close look with his divine sense. In fact, he had already found the issue when he had first arrived.
"Well, did you see anything?" Miao Feiyu asked anxiously.
The Renowned Sword Manor stood at a critical turning point between survival and ruin, and their only chance to turn the tide was to achieve a breakthrough in blacksmithing.
Liu Wuxie commented after examining it with Ghost Eye. "If I'm not mistaken, you've added the Golden Sun Stone and Plumwood Core into this sword. They're not traditional forging materials, but they help enhance the weapon's sharpness."
He identified the two materials mixed among other ordinary materials in the sword.
The Golden Sun Stone imbued the blade with sharpness, while the Plumwood Core added stability to the sword. The match seemed logical on the surface, capable of forging a sword with peerless sharpness compared to other weapons on the same level.
If successful, the sword would reach the level of Earth Profound Realm experts.
Miao Feiyu nodded at Liu Wuxie's words with a flicker of surprise in his eyes. He hadn't expected Liu Wuxie to identify the sword's materials so quickly.
"Go on," he said, knowing there was more.
"While your choice of materials isn't wrong, they cannot be forged through conventional techniques. The other materials also need adjustment to ensure stability," Liu Wuxie continued.
The sword kept breaking because the materials clashed internally.
Liu Wuxie believed few could surpass him in blacksmithing. Relying on Ghost Eye and his experience, he pinpointed the issue quickly.
"What did I do wrong?" Miao Feiyu asked anxiously, grabbing Liu Wuxie by the arms. Desperation gripped him as he waited for an answer.
"If you swap the Golden Sun Stone for Yin-Water Crystal and combine it with the Golden Thread Vine, it should add stability to the sword and strengthen its flexibility," Liu Wuxie said after some thought.
He mentally simulated the ideal material combination, using insights from the Heavenly Dao Book.
Though Hu Shi had studied blacksmithing under Liu Wuxie for years, Liu Wuxie rarely applied it outside of the Heretic Blade. Most of his knowledge was theoretical.
In a meditative trance, Miao Feiyu sat in silence, pondering Liu Wuxie's words.
Miao Feiyu lost track of time as he sank into deep thought. Liu Wuxie didn't disturb him and returned to his courtyard.
After an uncertain amount of time, Miao Feiyu let out a roar, and hammering sounds echoed from his courtyard shortly after.
This time, Liu Wuxie didn't go to check on Miao Feiyu. He believed that with Miao Feiyu's skills, he could find the balance between the materials. He would naturally forge a formidable weapon if he grasped the balance to let all the materials fuse perfectly.
Moreover, Liu Wuxie couldn't forge an earth-spirit artifact with his current ability, not until he reached the Earth Profound Realm.
But it was different for Miao Feiyu, who had already reached the Earth Profound Realm. The greatest obstacle before him had now lifted, and no one knew where this path would lead.
If he continued down this path, Liu Wuxie was certain Miao Feiyu could eventually forge a heaven-spirit artifact.
At dawn, an outburst of sword aura jolted Liu Wuxie awake. He shot out from his courtyard and arrived outside Miao Feiyu's courtyard, looking at the entire courtyard engulfed in sword aura.
"Hahaha!" Miao Feiyu laughed like a madman, wielding a dazzling longsword.
The sword aura shattered the fences in the surroundings, reducing them to splinters. Even the distant ice walls crumbled inch by inch under the sword aura's pressure.
Everyone asleep jolted awake at Miao Feiyu's action. Miao Jianying, Miao Chenfei, Ji Qiu, and Tang Hong rushed over immediately. They knew Miao Feiyu's emotions had been unstable ever since the incident that cost him his arm.
Miao Jianying arrived first. Living nearby, he had rushed over out of concern for his father. Though he was briefly stunned at the sight of Liu Wuxie, he said nothing and entered the courtyard.
More people soon followed, such as Miao Feichen, Ji Qiu, Tang Hong, and the elders of the Renowned Sword Manor.
"Father, what's going on?" Miao Jianying asked, worry etched across his face. He had already lost his grandfather and mother. He didn't want to lose his father as well.
"Come, take a look at this sword!" Miao Feiyu exclaimed, handing the sword over.
Miao Jianying took the sword from his father and gave it a light tap. It hummed sharply, and a sword aura burst from it.
Caught off guard, Miao Jianying suffered a wound on his palm as the sword aura surged up his arm and shredded his sleeve.
"What a sharp sword!" Miao Feichen rushed over, forgetting entirely that Miao Jianying was still bleeding. His eyes were glued to the blade. Even Miao Jianying, despite his wound, couldn't look away.
Ji Qiu, Tang Hong, and the other elders gathered around to examine the sword closely.
"What a magnificent sword! The Northern City hasn't seen a sword like this in years!" Miao Feichen murmured.
A good weapon could boost the user's combat strength by thirty percent. Simultaneously, a superior weapon could change the tide of the battle.
"From the dragon's cry this sword released, it has the potential to reach a heaven-spirit artifact. This is a priceless treasure!" commented the Renowned Sword Manor's elders, excitedly stroking their beards. They completely forgot about the duel scheduled three days from now.
"Big Brother, where did this sword come from?" Miao Feichen asked, gently swinging the blade, which reduced a large stone to dust far away.
Only a cultivator at the Earth Profound Realm could wield such a weapon safely. If someone at the Spirit Profound Realm wielded it, they would have their true essence drained dry.
Everyone turned to Miao Feiyu, waiting for an answer.
Hearing the question, Miao Feiyu calmed down and turned toward the gate, looking at Liu Wuxie, who was about to leave.
"Brother Liu!" Miao Feiyu rushed over to grab Liu Wuxie.
"Congratulations, Senior. You've forged a superb sword!" Liu Wuxie congratulated. Forging such a sword was an occasion worth celebrating.
"Brother Liu, I wouldn't have been able to find the problem even in another century without your guidance. You deserve full credit for this sword. Please accept my gratitude," Miao Feiyu said, giving Liu Wuxie a deep bow.
This sword's quality far surpassed that of the rumored Silver Thread Forging Art.
Miao Feiyu understood what his improved swordsmithing could bring to the Renowned Sword Manor.
"Please, don't," Liu Wuxie said and hurried to support Miao Feiyu.
Another blacksmith might have needed decades to uncover the answer alone. But Miao Feiyu was already a grandmaster in blacksmithing, and he could see the problem easily after Liu Wuxie pinpointed what was wrong.
Everyone nearby exchanged glances, unsure of what was happening. Miao Jianying, especially, couldn't hide his shock at how respectful his father acted toward Liu Wuxie. It made no sense as his father held the strength of an Earth Profound Realm expert.
"You must accept this bow no matter what. Without you, the Renowned Sword Manor wouldn't have forged such a sword even in another century," Miao Feiyu insisted.
One wanted to bow, and the other refused to accept it. That created a brief stalemate.
"Brother-in-law, Brother Liu isn't an outsider. There's no need to be so polite with him. The Renowned Sword Manor already owes him multiple favors. He saved my wife's and my life. Owing another favor wouldn't make much difference," Ji Qiu said as he stepped out from the crowd to ease the atmosphere.
He knew Liu Wuxie well. He was someone who never fussed over such things.
Hearing what Ji Qiu said, Miao Feiyu reluctantly gave up and offered Liu Wuxie a respectful cupped-fist salute to show his gratitude.
"Father, you're saying that you could forge this sword thanks to Brother Liu's help?" Miao Jianying asked, surprised.
"Brother Liu? You should address him as 'Uncle'!" Miao Feiyu scolded, giving Miao Jianying a slap on his head.
Though Miao Jianying's face darkened at his father's words, he didn't argue.
"Yes, yes!" Miao Jianying nodded.
But isn't he younger than me? He grumbled inwardly, still unconvinced.
