Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau-Chapter 737 - 381: The Lie Exposed
Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne were already adults, but caught up in the atmosphere, they were still like children, carrying baskets full of roses, walking behind Gabrielle Winters.
Lawrence Winters felt his eyes wet and wanted to cry, and softly said, "I’m so touched... My mom and master will surely live happily ever after."
Kenneth Osborne glanced at her and whispered, "Should we have our wedding like this too? Just a few people in the living room..."
"No way." Lawrence Winters wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and opposed without hesitation, "If you want to have our wedding like that, we might as well just have a farewell dinner together."
Kenneth Osborne laughed.
Such a contrary little thing.
...
After the wedding ceremony, the family had dinner in the dining room.
The old Daoist pulled out all the stops and made a big table full of dishes.
In the center was a fragrant and golden roasted piglet with a festive name called Fortune at the Head.
Centered around the roast pig were various delicacies from the mountains and seas.
There was braised pork tied with enoki mushrooms, tender grouper covered with honey glaze, snow lotus stewed with black-bone chicken, neatly sliced roast duck, sweet corn steamed with bright red lobster, stir-fried wild sea cucumber with mushrooms, a shrimp platter titled "Fu Lu Shou," snow white goose paws stewed with fresh abalone, old fire soup fish maw cooked with shark fins, wild mushroom stir-fried mixed vegetables, red date peanut lotus seed lily dessert, together with fried Wuchang rice tossed with green peas, scrambled eggs, and sausage bits, and finally a giant fruit platter arranged to spell "One Hundred Years of Harmony."
The table full of dishes almost made Lawrence Winters drool uncontrollably.
Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller changed out of their wedding outfits and sat between Lawrence Winters and the old Daoist.
Lawrence Winters happily said, "Mom, eat! Dad, eat! Grandpa, eat! Kenneth, eat!"
She even changed the address from "Master-Grandpa" to directly calling "Grandpa."
The old Daoist was so happy his eyes squinted into slits and generously gave her a red envelope: "Even changing your form of address to Grandpa gets you a fee! More than calling Papa!"
"Thank you, Grandpa!" Lawrence Winters didn’t expect an extra surprise and ran over, holding both hands to receive the large red envelope from the old Daoist.
Although the red envelope was quite thin, she felt there was more than money inside; there was something hard that felt like a piece of jade.
The old Daoist chuckled and said, "Open it and have a look."
Lawrence Winters immediately opened it in front of everyone.
Inside was a passbook and a seal carved in the ancient lotus shape.
The seal was a waxy yellow, warm and smooth, warming to the touch.
It looked like a piece of soft frozen dessert, but when grasped, one could clearly feel the hard texture, definitely not soft.
Lawrence Winters curiously asked, "Is this carved out of yellow jade?"
"Ugh! No taste! Does yellow jade have such a warm and dense texture?" the old Daoist looked at Lawrence Winters with contempt, "Really lacks worldly experience! Makes me angry!"
"Then, Grandpa, tell us about it! Let us gain some worldly experience!" Lawrence Winters wasn’t angry at all and, laughing, pulled over a chair and sat next to the old Daoist.
The old Daoist would never truly be mad at her; he touched her head, took the lotus-shaped pendant from her hand, and said emotionally, "Do you know about Tian Huang Stone?"
Lawrence Winters quickly nodded, "I know, Tian Huang Stone is also called ’Soft Gold,’ and it is only produced in a less than one-kilometer rice field in the Southern Region of our country. Stones labeled as ’Tian Huang Stone’ from other places are all fake."
The old Daoist nodded and, gazing at the lotus seal in his palm, said, "Rare things are precious. Since this stone comes from a unique location and has been mined for hundreds of years, it’s nearly exhausted now, which has made the price of Tian Huang Stone sky-high, surpassing even the finest jade and mutton fat jade."
"Last year in an overseas auction, a Tian Huang seal sold for a price of ten billion."
Lawrence Winters gasped, almost exploding with joy: "Is this that Tian Huang Seal?!"
Oh my goodness!
This change of address fee is really worth it!
Unexpectedly, the old Daoist glanced at her sideways, "Don’t dream on! If I wanted that, I wouldn’t have the money to buy it! Of course, this is not the Tian Huang Seal auctioned for ten billion!"
Lawrence Winters instantly deflated and mumbled, "Then why did you make such a grand introduction? Just to mislead me?"
"I didn’t mislead you." The old Daoist chuckled, "This Lotus Tian Huang Seal is related to the Tian Huang Seal auctioned for ten billion last year."
"How is it related?!" Lawrence Winters’ spirit was lifted, her eyes almost curved into ingot shapes.
"This Lotus Seal was cut from the same stone as that ten-billion-priced Tian Huang Seal!" The old Daoist laughed heartily, "In terms of weight, this Lotus Seal is roughly one fiftieth of that Tian Huang Seal, so for rounding purposes, it’s worth twenty million!"
