Chapter 400: Chapter 400 Fate

"Ava and Nova... You have shared your vows from the heart before your loved ones. These promises are the threads that will bind you in love, laughter, and life together.

Now, do you, Nova, take Ava to be your lawfully wedded wife — to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for better or worse, in joy and sorrow, for all the days of your life?"

Nova’s eyes didn’t leave Ava’s. His grin was soft but wide.

"I do."

The priest turned to Ava.

"And do you, Ava, take Nova to be your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for better or worse, in joy and sorrow, for all the days of your life?"

Ava’s tears glistened but her voice was steady as she whispered,

"I do."

A warmth spread through the room as the priest smiled, lifting his hands in blessing.

"Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Nova, you may kiss your bride."

Nova didn’t wait even a second. He cupped Ava’s face, brushing away the stray tear with his thumb before pressing his lips to hers. It was soft at first, then deeper, warm, and full of everything unsaid.

When they finally pulled away, Ava was giggling, her nose brushing Nova’s as the guests erupted into applause and a few joyful whistles.

Nova leaned close, forehead to hers, whispering just for her, "Forever, Mrs. Anderson."

And Ava laughed, tears slipping down her flushed cheeks, "Forever."

After the wedding dances and sweet cake, the hall was still full of warm laughter. The music slowed as everyone gathered near the stage for the bouquet toss. Ava stood in the middle, her cheeks flushed with happiness, the flowers held behind her back.

Ana made sure all the bridesmaids, including Lilith, were lined up properly. "Stand closer — yes, Lilith, no escaping!" she said, half-joking but half-serious, which made Lilith roll her eyes.

Ava turned around and grinned at all of them, her eyes full of mischief. "All right! Who wants to get married next?" she called out, shaking the bouquet slightly.

Some girls giggled shyly, a few raised their hands, but Lilith just crossed her arms, shooting Ava a knowing look.

"Oh, come on!" Ava teased, turning her back again, pretending to swing the flowers over her shoulder. "Ready?! One... two..."

All the bridesmaids tensed, some even bounced on their toes, eyes wide, ready to grab the bouquet.

"... three!" Ava started to toss — then stopped suddenly, bursting into laughter.

"Hey!" one girl pouted. "Ava!"

Ava turned around, grinning ear to ear, hugging the bouquet to her chest. "Oops! My hand slipped. Maybe next time."

Lilith smirked, amused but unimpressed, while Alexander, watching from the side, chuckled under his breath at her reaction.

"Oh, you’re so mean!" another bridesmaid complained.

"Let’s try again," Ava said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"One... two..." she shouted, swaying her hips for extra drama.

All the bridesmaids tensed, leaning forward, eyes shining with excitement.

"Three!" Ava yelled, tossing the bouquet high into the air without warning. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

It flew in a perfect arc — everyone reached for it at once, hands shooting up but somehow it landed right in Lilith’s hands as if fate had aimed it for her.

There was a second of stunned silence.

Then the whole room erupted into whoops and cheers.

"Wooo! Lilith!" someone shouted.

"Looks like you’re next!" Ana clapped her hands in delight, giggling like a girl herself.

Lilith just stood there, the flowers clutched in her hands, lips parted in disbelief but before she could react, she felt eyes burning into her. She glanced to the side and met Alexander’s gaze.

Now he leaned back, one arm resting lazily over the chair, but that sly, smoldering smile on his lips told her exactly what was running through his mind.

Lilith’s cheeks flushed despite herself, but she tilted her chin, her lips curling into a sharp, beautiful smirk that made the girls around her hoot even louder.

"Caught it fair and square, huh?" Ava teased, giving her a wink as everyone crowded around to hug Lilith, showering her with playful jabs and teasing words.

After the cheers settled down, the hall was still filled with laughter and excitement from the bouquet toss. Lilith stood there holding the flowers, a rare pink tint on her cheeks that amused Ava to no end.

"Alright, alright! Everyone back to your seats," Ana clapped her hands, shooing the guests back to the dance floor and their tables. "It’s not every day we catch the next bride in action!"

Ava was already clinging to Nova’s arm again — he’d come over to her after she’d had her fun with everyone.

Then she leaned closer to Lilith, pulling Nova along with her. "Looks like your future is sealed, huh? Better get your gown ready." She winked mischievously and squealed when Nova tugged her closer, planting a kiss on her temple.

Lilith rolled her eyes at her friend’s teasing, but her lips curved into a small, genuine smile. She looked down at the bouquet in her hands, taking in the soft petals and their delicate fragrance.

She could sense Alexander before she even saw him — the soft scrape of his shoes on the floor, the faint chill that always seemed to follow his presence. He came up behind her, so close she could feel the heat of his breath near her ear.

"You caught it," he murmured, his deep voice brushing along her neck like silk.

Lilith tilted her head just slightly, refusing to look too flustered in front of him. "Fate threw it at me. Don’t get ideas, Mr. Carter."

He chuckled low, the sound making her spine tingle. "Too late for that," he said, his hand brushing over her wrist before he took the bouquet from her for a second, bringing it up to his nose as if he was memorizing its scent — her scent.

The music swelled as another soft love song played through the hall. Some of the guests began to slow dance, laughter blending with the hush of conversation.

Alexander stepped in front of her, one hand slipping behind her back, the other still holding the flowers between them. "Dance with me," he said, his eyes locked on hers, dark and stormy yet soft around the edges.
