Diary of Guarding Monster Girls-Chapter 543 - 324 I’m Pursuing You (5K, Second Update)
A moment of darkness.
.
.
At the end of the fourth hour, the door to the secret chamber was pushed open.
Herbert shook his neck, walked alone up the stairs, and staggered out from the ruins.
"As for the laws, next time. Anyway, you can’t see the sun here."
He looked up at the city that had completely dimmed and shook his head slightly.
The incarnation of the Evil God had drained ninety percent of the city’s resources, and the remaining ten percent was packed up and taken away by him.
Don’t even mention magic energy lamps, even the lamp posts were knocked down and sent to the furnace to be re-smelted into metal ingots.
No need to ask, the rescued grey dwarves worked hard, each more enthusiastic than the last.
This was dismantling a house, and it’s the house of their enemy!
They were so excited they almost went crazy, they didn’t even need Herbert’s instructions to dismantle all the usable and barely usable magic devices in the city.
Either they left well-functioning ones or they all went back to the furnace as materials, all packed and taken away.
While Herbert was exercising and repairing lights in the secret chamber, they were doing these things under Svanni’s command.
"Sir Herbert, are you rested?" Svanni descended from mid-air and slowly walked over.
She had been keeping an eye on the place and was the first to notice the changes in Herbert after he emerged.
There was a hint of blood, presumably from a battle.
As she pondered, Svanni’s gaze fell on Herbert’s neck.
There, a hole-shaped scar hadn’t healed like a normal wound.
It was a bite mark left by a vampire after feeding.
A mark? A warning?
Or a declaration of sovereignty?
But it didn’t seem like Eliza’s style; rather, it felt more like Herbert was declaring his sovereignty over her.
"Yes, I’m rested. Are you all prepared as well?"
As Svanni approached, Herbert’s shadow moved, splitting off and whisking away to a distance, hiding shyly.
Being skilled in shadow magic, Svanni knew what that shadow’s true form was. She glanced at it and then looked away, shaking her head with a light laugh.
"Hehe."
She wasn’t unaware of what Eliza was embarrassed about, but as a Dark Elf, her "common sense" made her think it wasn’t a big deal.
The Dark Elf didn’t mock the Vampire, remaining calm and continued:
"The grey dwarves have sorted all the items, most are stored in storage items, and those that couldn’t fit are all put into the carriages."
"Of course, the truly important resources are all on me." She gestured to the dozen rings on her hands.
"Everyone’s ready. We can leave at any time."
She smiled and added an interesting tidbit:
"By the way, Miss Quinna’s robe was prepared according to your previous request, with no additional clothing provided besides that robe."
"Though she seemed unable to accept it at that time, she ultimately complied with your request, now occasionally glancing back as she walks."
Herbert laughed after hearing Svanni’s description, able to imagine the expression of the shy, teeth-gritting female knight.
Who would have thought that a tall and brave female knight, beneath the wide cloak, wasn’t wearing armor, but something quite suggestive?
In some ways, she’s like a flasher walking outside in just a trench coat.
Herbert thought for a moment, nodded satisfactorily, and then added:
"By the way, be careful not to push her too far."
"Give her a set of normal clothes if she really can’t endure it." Herbert kindly reminded.
After all, the two didn’t bear any deep grudges. He just wanted to have some fun and remind her, not to create a female knight who fought in a bikini armor.
"Understood." Svanni nodded slightly, Herbert’s final arrangements didn’t surprise her.
She had some understanding of Herbert’s "softheartedness".
This young man, although sometimes he performed actions appearing as "wicked", didn’t really push others to the breaking point and showed mercy at the brink of explosion.
However, it was unknown if Herbert knew that this method of "forcing to the extreme then granting slight respite on the verge of collapse to earn gratitude" was more torturous to some people.
If Herbert did it consciously, it proved he was skilled in manipulating hearts and people. A master of control dynamics.
But if it was an instinctual, unconscious operation, it can only be said he had a gift—in manipulating others.
Svanni thought of this and nodded silently at Herbert.
This gentleman is truly not to be underestimated.
"Hmm?"
Herbert noticed her meaningful gaze but didn’t think too much, only feeling she was curious about how he and Eliza repaired the lights just now.
He waited for a while and found Svanni just watching without really asking, so he prompted: "Aren’t you going to ask?"
"What do you want me to ask?"
Svanni tilted her head at his words and countered: "Are you expecting me to behave like a naive Surface Elf girl, exclaiming in surprise non-stop?"
"If so, I can do that, able to perform such an attitude."
