Dimensional Hotel-Chapter 579: A Glimpse of the Border
Yu Sheng’s consciousness drifted in a chaotic void—this was the surface layer of his Dream Realm, formed by fragments of unshaped, discontinuous impressions known as the "shallow lake." Normally, this place would only show some vague memory images, often involving things thought or seen during the day, but now, it seemed some strange things had appeared here.
Vast flows of shimmering light streamed forth from the depths of darkness, wandering above this consciousness "shallow lake." They looked like some kind of river, yet with no beginning or end, cycling back and forth in the darkness.
Yu Sheng observed these flowing colors in surprise, but he felt no danger or abnormality from them. He quickly determined that this was not an external intrusion, and he even sensed something...familiar.
He recalled in the darkness, suddenly remembering where this familiar feeling came from.
It was those space-time rifts on the World Bridge—when those rifts gathered together, distant starlight and the edge-of-the-Universe scenes mixed in one place seemed to resemble this picture.
World Bridge...
The magnificent blueprint structure quietly emerged in Yu Sheng’s consciousness. He felt something and began to approach the nearest stream of light.
But before he touched that "rift," the light stream trembled and faded away.
An understanding sprang up in Yu Sheng’s heart: it has not yet taken shape.
He looked around in the darkness, vaguely observing branch-like structures between those flowing space-time rifts, as if an invisible giant tree was spreading in the chaos, supporting this vast "dimension river," all deeply rooted in his consciousness.
Lost in this wondrous scene for an unknown time, Yu Sheng suddenly felt something in his heart.
His consciousness plummeted through the darkness, descending into the Soul Wilderness—he roared through the chaotic gray-black clouds and glowing sky, endless high grass wilderness appeared in view, he swept past the bonfire sacrifices and paths on the wilderness, and finally landed in the front hall of the black cathedral.
The cathedral echoed with faint chanting, pale candle flames danced on neatly arranged candelabras, the doors to the main hall silently opened, and Yu Sheng quickly entered the sermon hall to see the blonde-haired girl knight standing at the end of the hall, seemingly praying quietly under the candlelight.
Cathedral, candlelight, the sermon platform in the deep, the devout praying blonde girl—this scene was serene and tranquil.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere lasted less than a second, for as Yu Sheng stepped forward two steps, Luna opened her eyes, the girl knight’s face quickly blossoming into a smile, babbling excitedly:
"Good evening, Lord~ You’ve wandered into this place tonight? Are you here to inspect the church’s phase three project? Let me tell you, we plan to open up a new area behind the church to build a separate barracks, or maybe a small town. Erin’s game has given me many ideas lately, the first scene of the first stage is so beautiful, but sadly I haven’t seen what the second stage looks like yet..."
Yu Sheng hadn’t yet spoken before a torrent of words was spewed across, though he had gotten somewhat used to Luna’s drastically different "inner-outer duality" after such close contact. Only after the girl finished babbling did he wave his hand: "It’s unrelated to that, I want to see that ’tree’ in the courtyard."
Luna was startled upon hearing this: "Inference Star Body Crystal Tree? You’re here especially to see it... Alright, I’ll lead the way~"
Then she turned around and opened a small door at the back-side of the sermon hall—a passage here led directly to the courtyard behind the cathedral.
Yu Sheng followed Luna through the passage, listening to her enthusiastically outline the planning blueprints for church phases three and four all the way up to twelve, feeling that each version he heard was completely different from the last. Meanwhile, Luna introduced the knights’ recent training plans and Mr. Yun’s occasional visits to the church, mentioning her gardening in the valley, feeding chickens for Hu Li, how Erin’s mass-produced Puppets were fighting chickens in the coop...
Luna’s babbling was on a different level from Erin’s constant chatter, the latter being mostly trivial junk talk or low-quality monologues with questionable grammar, while Luna’s babbling was incredibly informative. In just this short trip, she had compressed all events from the valley and Soul Wilderness into a mental zip file stuffed into Yu Sheng’s head...
But for Yu Sheng himself, whether Luna (inwardly) or Erin spoke made little difference—his brain felt equally overwhelmed.
Fortunately, Luna finally quieted down upon reaching the courtyard.
An astonishing Crystal Giant Tree stood in the courtyard.
It came from that "Inference Star Body’s seed" brought by Yun Qingzi—Yu Sheng had planted that Crystal Seed in the church garden’s empty space, and now this seed had sprouted and grown.
...its growth completely exceeded his expectations.
Yu Sheng took a few steps forward, instinctively raising his head.
Pure white Crystal Branches intertwined like countless vines, the translucent trunks and branches spreading across the sky, extending towards every direction. The likewise translucent crystalline leaves emitted a soft glow amidst the branches, the heavy and massive canopy nearly covering the entire courtyard, even extending over the surrounding cathedral buildings.
And it was foreseeable that this tree canopy would continue to extend, possibly becoming larger than the cathedral itself.
Mystical, majestic, exuding an awe-inspiring beauty.
"...this thing grows so fast?"
Yu Sheng looked up for quite some time, finally unable to hold back speaking.
"Yes, it grows very fast—though it’s slowed down a bit lately," Luna said from the side. "Last time Mr. Yun came, the branch of the tree had just reached the edge of the garden, and now it’s almost touching the clock tower. But this tree seems to have a sense of spirituality; it consciously avoids the tower and roof of the church. I was worried it might pierce through the roof."
As if responding to Luna’s "praise," part of the Crystal Giant Tree shook its leaves, emitting a clear, melodious sound of crystals rubbing against each other, akin to tinkling wind chimes.
Yu Sheng blinked: "...And there’s no watering or fertilizing?"
"No," Luna said, spreading her hands. "In the Soul Wilderness, there’s no hunger or cold, and plants can grow without watering or fertilizing."
Yu Sheng touched his chin and paused for a moment, then raised his head and squinted, following a feeling in his heart, carefully observing the branches and leaves of the Crystal Giant Tree, as if searching for something.
Soon, he found what he was looking for.
"Indeed, it’s here..."
Among the thicker branches of the Crystal Giant Tree, faintly appeared a few irregular "patterns"—those delicate lines floated in the air between leaves and branches, connected with the tree crown only by tiny spider-silk-like spots of light, and within the patterns, one could vaguely see a stunning, dreamy flow of light, like the distorted starlight from afar.
Yu Sheng’s judgment was correct.
The illusion he saw in his consciousness "shallow lake" corresponded to changes in the Soul Wilderness—and the only thing that could manifest such changes was the "relic" of the Dark Angel.
The Inference Star Body seed he planted in the church garden and the World Bridge he "consumed" have now become part of the Soul Wilderness.
Clearly, this "fusion" resulted in the current wondrous... outcome.
Luna saw Yu Sheng staring up silently for a long time and followed suit, squinting and looking up, imitating his gaze at the tree crown.
She finally discovered the tiny dimensional rifts hidden among the branches.
"Wow—" the girl couldn’t help but exclaim softly, "What is that?!"
Yu Sheng: "That’s the World Bridge."
"World Bridge!?" Luna looked shocked. "Wasn’t that thing gone? You said it had decomposed in our world..."
"True, its previous ’version’ decomposed at an informational level because it couldn’t be compatible with our world, but its blueprint and remaining control mechanism were ’devoured’ by me, so now it’s ’growing’ once more on the Inference Star Body’s Crystal Tree," Yu Sheng said leisurely. "Seems... it’s growing quickly."
Luna blinked with a "Is that even possible?" expression, unable to speak for a while.
Yu Sheng silently stepped forward and pressed his hand onto the pure white crystalline trunk.
The tree indeed hadn’t been watered or fertilized, but in a sense, it had been "nurtured" with his blood.
Almost instantly, Yu Sheng established a connection with the Crystal Giant Tree and "saw" it in another form at the consciousness level.
It looked similar to what he had seen in his consciousness "shallow lake" while wandering in the Dream Realm, except with more elements—
Glistening colorful rifts streamed and floated in chaos, the pure white crystal branches twisted around the rifts like winding vines, the two forming a grand structure far beyond human understanding, and within the floating, illusory colors seemed to hide silhouettes of starry space from the cosmos’ edge.
Yu Sheng tried to approach the rift closest to him once more.
This time, the fragile rift didn’t vanish immediately but slightly revealed secretive scenery on the other side to the observer—
Amid the stirring shadows, Yu Sheng felt as if he glimpsed a large ship.
A ship?
Yu Sheng paused, leaning closer to the rift leading to an unknown destination, opening his eyes wide to look across.
A grand ghost ship sailed through the vast starry space, where the starlight appeared distant and wavering, as if separated by an invisible surface of water. Meanwhile, illusory, eerie green flames spread from both sides of the ghost ship, rippling like waves and creating a virtual sea in the starry space—the ghost ship raised its translucent giant sails, heading towards the material world’s edge, while the large mass of illusory flames around it surged, instantly enveloping the entire star sea. This scene was like the ship was dragging the entire world... voyaging in the virtual space.
Yu Sheng: "...?"
