Dimensional Hotel-Chapter 582: Baili Qing Returns to Work
Deep within the Special Service Bureau, in the Director’s office.
Yu Sheng sized up Baili Qing in front of him—until she sighed helplessly and stared back at him with those light grey eyes.
"What are you looking at?"
"Uh, nothing, nothing," Yu Sheng quickly looked away, scratching his head awkwardly. "Just curious about you..."
"If you’re talking about my horns, they’ve naturally faded," Baili Qing said expressionlessly. "If you’re referring to my ’sister’ — she’s feeling unwell, so she’s resting today."
Yu Sheng pondered for a while how the one-eyed Baili Xue could feel "unwell"—especially since that eye was more like a projection.
But seeing this Director sister not looking too happy, he thought about it for a long time and didn’t have the guts to ask.
Having known Baili Qing for so long, Yu Sheng felt he could finally discern some micro-expressions from her otherwise icy demeanor.
"Let’s discuss business," Baili Qing rubbed her forehead, seemingly sighing again. "I should apologize first. I should have contacted you sooner, but things are overwhelming, and just sorting out the aftermath has taken most of my energy. I’ve finally found some free time now... Tell me about Erin’s situation first. How is she?"
Yu Sheng hastily adjusted his posture, quickly organizing his thoughts, and began sharing his intelligence with Baili Qing.
The sudden outbreak of the World Bridge and Omen crisis had left Yu Sheng no time to communicate thoroughly with Baili Qing, including the final disposition of the World Bridge, the information gleaned from the Omen memories, and speculations on the hidden secrets behind the World Bridge, none of which had been discussed yet. Now that everything had settled, he held nothing back, revealing many things to this "Special Service Director."
Perhaps due to a joint battle within the Omen Divine Temple, a stronger mutual trust had clearly formed between Yu Sheng and Baili Qing.
"Erin’s original shell has been repaired, but there’s still a small glitch? Alright, I think I know what problem you’re referring to."
"You say she has a good mindset? And now you’ve started working on a new charging method... Wow, truly impressive. No, I mean it sincerely, it’s praiseworthy."
"She regained part of the Omen memories?! Uh...the most vivid memories were about making Believers sacrifice egg yolk pies and sweet water..."
"Addicted to the Garden Network? No wonder she didn’t come with you today."
Baili Qing rubbed her forehead again, unsure if she was greatly affected by Erin’s lifestyle or simply hadn’t slept enough. However, one thing was clear—her particular "concern" had noticeably diminished after hearing about Erin’s current status. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Then Yu Sheng naturally shifted the topic, beginning a discussion about the World Bridge with Baili Qing.
"A kind of ’transportation tool’ collectively built by Dark Angels...and judging from ’Erin’s’ past mission, this matter might have been tacitly approved by Ancient Saints," even Baili Qing’s expression turned serious upon hearing Yu Sheng’s intel. "If this news spreads, the shock might be comparable to the first Angel Fall."
"Simply the fact that ’some Dark Angels possess intelligence and act collectively outside the world’ already challenges many people’s perceptions, as previously everyone thought Dark Angels were brainless," Yu Sheng rubbed his chin. "As for the Ancient Saints..."
"In fact, no one knows what kind of attitude the Ancient Saints have towards ’Dark Angels’," Baili Qing calmly took over the conversation. "They seldom interfere with mortal affairs, let alone now as they’ve ventured to the world’s end, with no news returning for a long time."
The world’s end...
Upon hearing these words, Yu Sheng felt his Spiritual Intuition start to leap. The distant starry sky glimpsed through the "Crystal Tree fissure" seemed to stir in his memory, emanating a strong sense of presence.
This made him subconsciously say, "Speaking of the world’s end, I just happened to have something to tell you."
Baili Qing seldom saw Yu Sheng with such a serious expression, she immediately perked up: "Go on."
"Last night, I ’saw’ a somewhat strange scene," Yu Sheng rubbed his chin. "A grand ship, looking like a classic sailing battleship but absurdly large, sailing through space, surrounded by green illusory flames like those on the sea surface. Even the distant starry background looked odd, the starlight seemed erratic, and for some reason, my intuition keeps insisting the starlight comes from the Universe’s end... Hmm? Are you listening?"
Yu Sheng suddenly sensed the atmosphere wasn’t right and looked up to see Baili Qing sitting at her desk like she was petrified—a usual occurrence for this expressionless sister but noticeably different this time.
Her eyes were flashing with a "What the hell are you talking about?" look (with the interjection added by Yu Sheng himself), and the stillness was due not to her usual stoicism but to shock.
"Uh, well..." Yu Sheng cautiously spoke.
Baili Qing suddenly startled awake, finally revealing a look of astonishment: "Say that again, what does the ship you saw look like?!"
Yu Sheng was taken aback by this reaction and quickly spoke: "It’s a classical sailing warship, oh, the sails are also semi-transparent, like a ghost ship, surrounded by..."
He hadn’t finished speaking when he saw Baili Qing quickly wave his hand. The giant floor-to-ceiling window behind his desk suddenly saw thick fog wildly surging, and then within the mist appeared a giant ghost ship enveloped in flames, majestically floating in the void—Baili Qing pointed with his hand: "Is it this one?"
Yu Sheng blinked, then looked at Baili Qing in surprise: "You saw it too?"
"No... This is image data from the Terra Academy’s database," Baili Qing gently sighed, seeing the curious look on Yu Sheng’s face, he didn’t continue to keep him in suspense, "If it’s correct, what you saw... is indeed the assembly place of the Ancient Saints."
Yu Sheng: "...?!"
"It’s called ’Lost Home’, an ancient and mysterious Creator’s Ship, it’s the final and also the first ark—the Ancient Saints’ ’Captain’ once steered this ship across the Sea of Ashes of the old world, and at the birth of the new world, they defined the initial background parameters of this Universe on the ship..."
Baili Qing paused here, seeming to calm his emotions before slowly saying, "In the early days after the second Singularity Explosion, when the Ancient Saints had not yet left, it’s said that invited mortals could still visit that ark in dreams.
"The fortunate ones had the chance to directly listen to the teachings of the Ancient Saints, to understand the operating order of the new world, and the mysteries deep in the starry sky. Terra Academy’s database even preserved quite a bit of information on this—but that was a long, long time ago.
"Now, the story of ’Lost Home’ is merely a legend to most people, and many do not even know of its existence. The Ancient Saints seem to have intentionally withdrawn from the mortals’ view before leaving, even their kin races, such as the Alice Puppets, rarely mention the matter of that ship..."
Baili Qing raised his head, staring steadily into Yu Sheng’s eyes.
"So, how did you ’see’ it? And where did you see it?"
Yu Sheng was a bit dazed at this moment, not expecting this matter to suddenly involve such a level of context, while Baili Qing’s nearly transparent light gray eyes held a persistent determination to get to the bottom of it today—so after a momentary hesitation, he still nodded: "This might be a bit complicated... and you need to be mentally prepared."
"I excel at handling complex matters," Baili Qing immediately said, adjusting to a comfortable position in his chair, posing as if nothing would surprise him, "Go ahead, I won’t be surprised."
Yu Sheng nodded: "Firstly, I actually ate the World Bridge."
Baili Qing jumped up.
Yu Sheng: "...You said you wouldn’t be surprised."
Baili Qing stared at Yu Sheng as if seeing a ghost for several seconds, his mouth seemed to twitch.
"Generally, I don’t share this level of inside information with outsiders—this is ’travel agency’ internal intelligence," Yu Sheng looked at the other party, earnestly, "But you accepted my ’blood’, so you have the qualification to enter the Soul Wilderness, maybe one day you’ll see those things yourself, so I’m telling you."
Baili Qing stared at Yu Sheng for a while longer before finally slowly sitting back down: "You... well, I guess I should get used to it, I won’t delve too much into the principles of this matter. And then? You ’consumed’ the World Bridge, so you observed the ’Lost Home’ at the Universe boundary through it?"
"Oh, it’s a bit more complicated than that, there’s also the matter of the Inference Star Body—did I not mention before that there’s a seed left of the Inference Star Body? In fact, that seed was planted in the Soul Wilderness by me, and recently it sprouted, and merged with the World Bridge..."
Baili Qing jumped up again.
Yu Sheng looked at the other person a bit helplessly: "...Maybe you should stand and listen?"
Baili Qing: "...No need."
She sat down again.
"Actually, you don’t need to be so surprised," Yu Sheng thought for a moment, reasonably and logically said, "After the Dark Angel ’Fall’, there’s always something left behind, you guys at the Special Service Bureau are even cultivating the Ankaela Crystal now, you recently used that thing to pour over the Omen Goddess— the seed of the Inference Star Body and the ’blueprint’ of the World Bridge are similar in nature to that."
Baili Qing was momentarily shaken by Yu Sheng’s reasonable and logical attitude, but being a director, she quickly reacted: "...We don’t mess around like you do! How could you eat the World Bridge, then plant the Inference Star Body, and they even crossbred into a new species..."
Yu Sheng looked innocent: "I didn’t mention anything about crossbreeding, that’s your own deduction."
Baili Qing: "..."
