Dimensional Hotel-Chapter 622: Meltdown
The falling snowflakes from the sky grew denser, the streets began to howl with wind. Just a while ago, this place was a clear, calm winter night, but now it felt as if the entire block was engulfed by a snowstorm. Moreover, the mist lingering on the streets not only didn't dissipate but gradually thickened to the point where even buildings tens of meters away were no longer visible.
Yu Sheng felt as if the "boundaries" of the entire world were becoming blurred, many things in his perception were mixed together, and he even felt as if the ground beneath his feet had turned into a floating illusion.
But just then, ghostly blue foxfire suddenly appeared in the snowstorm. The fires, filled with spiritual power, seemed to form some complex array, swirling and flying amidst the snow and wind. Where the foxfire passed, runes ignited out of thin air, and for a moment, the mist and snow around them cleared.
Everyone couldn't afford to delay, quickly taking advantage of this momentary stability to rush through dozens of meters of wind and snow, running toward the "underground parking entrance" that had transformed into a mysterious cave.
Before they could step into the cave, the surrounding streets were finally completely consumed by snow and mist, turning into vast silhouettes in the snow and fog.
The howling wind suddenly weakened, as if isolated by an invisible barrier at the cave's entrance.
Yu Sheng frowned and glanced back at the path covered in snow and dense fog, then turned his gaze to observe his surroundings.
He saw the ramp of the parking lot extending before him. The concrete and steel ground appeared torn and shattered, rock and dirt piled up on the roadway, with many strange black substances covering the surface. It looked like obsidian or some similar molten and cooled product. The space at the end of the ramp was wide, seemingly still like a parking lot, yet with large rocks and earth fused into it, expanding the entire space severalfold.
In the distance, the view was shrouded in fog, making it impossible to see the end of the parking lot.
Without a doubt, this "parking lot" had already undergone exoticization—but it wasn't any Exotic Realm that Yu Sheng knew of.
The daylight lamps on the ceiling were still working, so the parking lot was not completely dark. Yu Sheng led the way with Hu Li, walking cautiously while observing the environment. Erin, with her short legs, hustled to keep up beside him, while Luna silently walked at the rear, staying alert for anything around them.
As they passed a pillar covered in black substances, Hu Li suddenly stopped and pulled at Yu Sheng's sleeve.
Yu Sheng followed her gaze, and his eyes narrowed.
At the base of the concrete pillar, next to a private car engulfed by the black substances, a tall figure lay quietly.
Yu Sheng walked over and confirmed that it was indeed the Artificial Saintess in loss of control he had seen in the illusion earlier.
But she had already ceased functioning—her vitality was so entirely extinguished that even Yu Sheng couldn't sense her presence, only Hu Li's keen eyes had spotted this black shell almost melded with the surrounding obsidian material.
Luna quickly stepped forward, crouched down to inspect this compatriot of hers—her movements were gentle, even seemingly tinged with a bit of anxiety. She attempted to open a piece of armor beneath the other's neck, connecting her fingers into a slot there, but shortly after, she withdrew her hand, silently shaking her head.
"Mind, already melted," she said softly, "yes, remote self-destruct, command."
Yu Sheng's face turned grim. "Remote self-destruct?"
"Controller discovered the loss of control," Luna struggled to explain, "recovery command, invalid, hence remote destruction."
She raised her hand, pointing to her head, then looked into Yu Sheng's eyes.
"I originally had it too, but you washed it away."
Yu Sheng said nothing, simply looking down at the cold shell—in his perception, the body held no life force and seemed like an empty black shell, indistinguishable from the surrounding rocks and earth. But after a moment of silence, he suddenly raised his hand: "Luna."
His palm was cut open, and bright red blood flowed, drifting in the air, resembling a strand of vivid silk.
The blood fell onto the nameless Saintess's shell, quickly soaking in, yet Yu Sheng only heard some hollow echoes, the shell showed no reaction, and no new breeze appeared in the Soul Wilderness.
Erin walked over; she seemed to have discovered something. She went forward and used both hands to move the Unnamed Saintess's palm— that hand was stiff and cold, stubborn like an iron clamp, but the strength of the original puppet body was great, and the hand was pried open, revealing a few shiny game coins and several colorful candies.
Erin stared at these things rolling on the ground, feeling a bit at a loss, then picked them up and looked at Yu Sheng.
Yu Sheng simply bent down, ruffling Erin's hair, and collected those game coins and candies.
He thought that perhaps, until the moment of mental meltdown, the Unnamed Artificial Saintess still considered herself human, and believed that eating a few candies would make everything alright.
And just at this moment, a slight creaking sound suddenly came from nearby, breaking Yu Sheng's thoughts.
It sounded like something was cracking open, accompanied by an unsettling, tooth-grinding noise of tearing friction.
Everyone instinctively looked in the direction of the sound.
Snowflakes started floating in the underground parking lot— though small, they clearly penetrated the roof, silently falling into this vast underground space, coinciding with the eerie sight of indoor snowfall, a precarious rift suddenly tore open the mist at the end of the garage, and wavering figures appeared within it.
Yu Sheng vaguely heard someone speaking from the other side of the rift: "…Recovery signal… should be right ahead, quickly… rift maintenance time is limited…"
The next second, an invisible wind suddenly blew across the underground garage, dispersing the mist.
Dozens of Brass Knights, numerous Hidden Monastery soldiers in black combat suits, and several priests wearing white robes appeared in everyone's sight.
Those white-robed priests looked at Yu Sheng's group with faces full of astonishment.
Within the Exoticized parking lot space, several strangers were present, which clearly caught them off guard, leaving everyone a bit dumbfounded. But the next second, a chief-looking Hidden Monastery priest reacted— this sage, clad in gold-patterned white robe, with white hair and beard, extraordinarily large, suddenly widened his eyes, raised his hand to point forward: "Heretics!"
The Brass Knights immediately charged over with great strides, those church soldiers in black combat suits quickly sought cover and started shooting, while the other white-robed priests swiftly hid behind the soldiers and knights — however, facing this scene, Yu Sheng instead laughed.
Yu Sheng laughed heartily, even feeling genuinely happy, like receiving an ice-cold cola suddenly on a scorching summer day, or someone handing him a pillow when he's drowsy; his joy came from the heart, tightly clutching the game coins and candies in his palm sounded crispy. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
The next second, several Fox Fires interwove before his eyes into a blazing fire net, from which eerie fireballs roared through the air, streaking with bright trails, as the particle beams sprayed from the other side hit the spiritual energy barrier created by Hu Li, rippling out sharp, explosive reports!
Taking advantage of the moment Hu Li and the other side mutually suppressed firepower, Yu Sheng quickly equipped his Blood Needle Launcher, dodged swiftly to the side away from a diving Brass Armor, then calmly entrusted his back to Luna beside him, lifting his hand and shooting a volley of blood needles at those Black Spot Soldiers opposite.
A slight stinging pain from blood extraction came from his arm, yet this mild discomfort didn't annoy him but rather sharpened Yu Sheng's mind even further. His consciousness skillfully synchronized with the simple artifact spirit housed in the arm armor; those tiny blood needles sweeping through the air seemed imbued with eyes, with Yu Sheng's perception soaking in them, directing their penetration into the light power armor of the Hidden Monastery soldiers.
The sturdy alloy shell could withstand a barrage of gunfire against seemingly fragile blood needles, however, the needles burst on the chest plates of two church soldiers into small blooming blood flowers, silently absorbing into the steel like a sponge soaking up water— the two enemies at first didn't even realize they'd been hit by something. Yet, the next second, a terrifying pressure swept through their bodies.
Their armors began to animate, swiftly nurturing flesh and bones within the alloy structures, while the servomotors at their joints emitted a sharp cry of life's ecstasy; unstable blood plasma coursed through the pipelines of the power backpack, subsequently, the power armor began to "grow" inwardly, wildly proliferating blood vessels, nerves, and bone-like structures, crushing their internal human anatomy—
One of the soldiers desperately tried to remove his armor, but those electromagnetic clasps had already fused into a seamless metal skin, with countless neural synapses sprouting beneath his mask, while animated cables soon burst through sleeves and eagerly drilled into his skull.
Beside him, another Hidden Monastery soldier didn't even have time to react before becoming a prisoner of his armor; after a first and last scream, he abruptly turned around and frantically opened fire at his adjacent teammates.
The particle rifle cheered, its muzzle blooming with exploding blood plasma, as the energy magazine's newly formed heart pulsed with vigorous might; this newborn dead thing fully unleashed its short yet fervent vitality, until its structure completely overloaded and burnt out, crumbling into a certain pale, fine powder resembling ashes, silently spilled.
Then, a Blood Grenade was thrown into the center of the battlefield, silently exploding, as a large scarlet mist fiercely spread like a living organism, actively drifting towards all hostile creatures within range.
Regardless of anything else, the Demon Suppression Tower's sliding kneel trio truly excelled at dealing with Evil Cultivators. Their artifact refining techniques on Qianfeng Ling Mountain would easily be seized by Security Immortals, but within such an orthodox sect like the travel agency, everything was just perfect.
