Yu Sheng totally understands what Baili Qing's feeling right now. Although he doesn't quite grasp the whole Ancient Saints thing, he can pretty much deduce Erin's situation just by analogy. Like the big shots gathering all sorts of awesome stuff to create a super soldier, piling up bear strength, leopard speed, eagle vision, throwing them onto a fusion platform, and then boom—a big project.

Out pops an epic-level protozoa.

Now this protozoa stands arrogantly on the table, smug and audacious, shamelessly proud of itself...

Apparently, Yu Sheng's facial expressions were a bit too obvious, as Erin, who was striking a pose with her arms folded, suddenly reacted and glared: "Hey, what's with that look—wasn't this just an accident! And I'm still pretty awesome, I broke both legs of that shaman in the parking lot! Besides, back in my heyday, who knows how powerful I was, so many blessings from the Ancient Saints..."

Yu Sheng couldn't help but say: "And then the first task went south, right?"

The little puppet flew up on the spot and bit him: "...Can you just not bring up the first task failure, Yu Sheng!!"

Hu Li, hearing the commotion beside her, quietly moved a few plates away, searching for a peaceful spot to continue leisurely munching on the remaining chicken feet—she was almost full anyway. If Erin had been messing around when the meal began, she'd be nailed to the ceiling with a swish of a tail.

Baili Qing, having spent a lot of time with the folks from the travel agency, was unfazed by seeing Erin circling and gnawing on Yu Sheng's head, waiting only for the scene to settle a bit before continuing the topic expressionlessly: "If I hadn't known you all beforehand, I would have found it hard to believe Erin—The Ancient Saints have been away from the human world for years, always striving to limit their influence over the various races in the Universe, ensuring the 'natural development', but if everything is as Erin says..."

She paused, a hint of seriousness reflecting in her eyes: "Then at least 3,700 years ago, the Ancient Saints paid extraordinary attention to events happening in the Boundary Land. 'World Bridge'... what's behind it is likely more complicated than we can imagine."

"How should I put it—having an 'Alice Puppet' to witness the activation of a World Bridge and omen event is already an extraordinary signal," Yu Sheng contemplated, "Now Erin's recollections add a super charge to the peculiarity of the whole matter, and honestly, compared to the 'World Bridge', I'm more interested in the Boundary Land itself."

Baili Qing slightly raised her eyebrows: "The Boundary Land itself?"

"Don't you find Erin's description of those scenes rather... eerie?" Yu Sheng raised his eyelids, "The 'previous version of the Boundary Land', that place seemed nothing like the current Boundary City and border regions, differences far beyond a 'change of era', not merely old mythic races switching to modern Boundary Land humans, but more like... everything reshaping anew, with maps redrawn.

"Erin mentioned seeing a fragmented floating continent, lands filled with city-states and ruins, massive walls standing at the edges. She described a 'great hollow' at the continent's center, with a solitary island in the void, and the World Bridge's 'base tower' resting on that island. She noted when the World Bridge punctured the land, a voice echoed above the Boundary Land, talking about simulation, compatibility, and templates, highlighting a specific term—'Council'."

Yu Sheng paused, seemingly waiting for Baili Qing to ponder these thoughts, then adjusted his posture before speaking again: "Moreover, even not considering these, just looking at the World Bridge and the descent of an omen—why choose the Boundary Land? Is it merely because it's the 'transport hub' of the Universe?"

Erin climbed onto Yu Sheng's shoulder again, shaking her head as she folded her arms, "Hey, the Boundary Land, it's got such stories."

Baili Qing, however, remained silent, continually listening with a serious expression, her deep calm eyes seemingly burying all thoughts. No one could comprehend what she was thinking at this moment.

"Honestly, do you really know nothing more?" Yu Sheng curiously gazed at the Special Service Director's eyes, "About the past of the Boundary Land, especially regarding the transition from the 'Classical Era' to modern Boundary City, the so-called change of epochs—can't you as the Special Service Director find more information on this?"

Her response was a gentle sigh from Baili Qing.

"If someone could truly uncover these lost secrets, even the Council might offer him a place," Baili Qing slowly remarked, "But the intelligence Erin brought this time has really advanced our 'archaeological' efforts considerably, at least it's our first explicit insight into what the 'Classical Era' Boundary Land looked like—not merely disarrayed, fragmented writings or distorted shards of knowledge, but a reliable 'eyewitness report.' Based on this alone, the Council should thank Erin."

The little puppet immediately started jubilantly wobbling on Yu Sheng's shoulder, uttering silly 'hee hee hee' noises.

Yu Sheng glanced at Hu Li beside him.

The demon fox girl, holding her fluffy tail, wiped her mouth and noticed the gaze, promptly turning to flash a bright smile.

Yu Sheng: "Full?"

Hu Li nodded, a bunch of tails swaying behind her.

"Just in time, we're done here," Yu Sheng ruffled the fox's head twice before standing from the table, eyes moving towards Baili Qing, "Any plans next?"

...

A few minutes later, on a certain floor of the Special Service Bureau, inside a heavily guarded advanced laboratory.

Yu Sheng stood behind a thick isolation wall, accompanied by Hu Li and Erin, watching the technicians dressed in full protective gear carefully manipulating the Force Field Transfer Device. They transferred some irregular black crystals from a certain cultivation container to a nearby platform.

Not far from the platform, the device known as the "Reality Misalignment Lens" seemed to have just shut down. Technicians were performing checks and shutdown resets on the equipment. Someone was removing key components for storage, others were recording values, and some were conducting on-site mental evaluations on the operators who had just been taken off duty. Meanwhile, two Spiritual Ability Users were comforting the Mechanical Soul by holding crystal pendants and mechanical magic balls…

Overall, the scene emphasized a mix of different styles, but everyone was doing their part without interruption.

Erin's attention was almost entirely focused on the black crystals being transferred from the cultivation container.

She couldn't help it; she had a bit of PTSD from the "shiny little gadgets" produced in the Special Service Bureau's laboratory, always feeling that these things were targeting her...

"Is this the 'Angel Catalyst' you guys replicated?" After watching for a while, the small puppet raised her head and looked at Baili Qing standing to the side, "It looks awfully ugly... And why is it black? I remember the raw material is the crystal extracted by Shuji, isn't that thing supposed to be white?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Before Baili Qing could speak, Yu Sheng interjected: "I guess it's specially dyed to make them look more like relatives of the 'Zolda Black Stone.'"

Baili Qing's expression was subtle: "Actually, it's a bit more complex than that. What we restored is not just the color, but also the spectral characteristics, electromagnetic features, spiritual energy waveform, and..."

She suddenly stopped, meeting Erin's clear eyes.

"Yes, dyed."

"What a damn straightforward way to counterfeit," the small puppet's eyes widened, but soon she became somewhat doubtful, "Do those cultists really believe this? Mainly, this thing doesn't look that special. It feels like you could probably find a bunch at East City Old Street—there are usually stalls selling jade and emerald there, said to be wholesaled at two and five a pound, all sourced from a glass factory..."

"You've seen the real Angel Catalyst—when it's not activated, it doesn't seem special at all. After all, essentially it's just the shattered remains of a Dark Angel after they crash," Yu Sheng shook his head, "Whether the Hidden Monastery believes it or not doesn't depend on how this thing looks, but on the source of the information and the bluffing nature of these 'baits.'"

"Exactly, we've added various complex spiritual pollution characteristics, all sampled from dangerous entities controlled by the Special Service Bureau, without corresponding identification samples outside," Baili Qing nodded, confirming Yu Sheng's words, "Additionally, to make things appear more authentic, we really will dispatch large recovery teams to the border regions to 'recover' these Angel Catalysts—while also organizing a crackdown on black market merchants throughout the region, including smugglers conducting gray trade on several jumping board Colonized Stars. This crackdown will be the strongest in recent years."

Hu Li's ears twitched: "...Goodness, that's unfortunate."

Yu Sheng: "Who can they blame when they've been doing illegal work?"

Meanwhile, the preparations in the laboratory were completed, and the technicians dressed in heavy protective suits completed the handover with the dispatch room through the protective barrier, then exited the area. Moments later, the corridor lights switched on again, and Yu Sheng led Erin into the laboratory.

Baili Qing and Hu Li remained on the other side of the isolation wall.

This was because the upcoming operation carried some danger—and Yu Sheng and Erin had more lives to spare, so they were not afraid of danger.

Several seemingly unremarkable black crystal fragments lay quietly on the platform, the largest about a foot long, the smallest only palm-sized.

Under the surrounding force field, the surface of each crystal seemed to float with an unstable glow and color, giving off an insecure feeling—one could only say that if they didn't already know these were newly fabricated fakes, the aura they emitted was indeed somewhat intimidating.

Yu Sheng steadied himself and directly placed his hand on one of the crystal fragments.

The "blueprint" of the World Bridge emerged in his mind.

"Time to fill in the stuffing..."

He muttered softly, embedding an unstable "door" into the bait.
