Chapter 380: Raul, the Frelsi

Raul had been fighting since the day he became a Frelsi.

It had been so long since he first joined their forces, that he didn’t even remember how it started. However, he got the feeling that he had about nine years old when the Frelsis appeared, then in one year he was already getting along with them and entering their team.

It was hard for anyone to imagine that they would have a kid trying to apply to work with them, but that was just natural for Raul. After all, since the day when he began to think straight and look to the world with conscious eyes, he could see many mistakes in what was happening around him.

Raul’s world never was filled with color and imagination like other kids. On the contrary, he always saw everything gray and boring. Having this kind of perspective of the world around him made Raul realize how much messed up District 42’s society was.

However, he was just ten years when he entered the Frelsis. He still didn’t know about how things worked. There were too many more things to discover.

The Frelsis taught him everything they knew that was wrong with District 42. His mind was molded since the day he stepped inside their base.

Raul saw how beautiful the idea of freedom was, and how noble was the intentions of Frelsis. He watched closely their everyday struggle to make things right, also as how they never lowered their heads no matter how many times they got defeated.

All the Frelsis were idols for him, examples of real citizens fighting for their rights.

Nonetheless, the person that most amazed the boy was Javir.

Everything about that guy made Raul’s eyes shine.

He followed each decision, each plan, each fight that he participated in, and he could say better than anyone else how much brave that man was.

He decided, together with a friend, to fight against the whole ideal model of society that the Royal Family used to brainwash their citizens. He chose to fight versus the whole world to get his freedom back. And everything started from the very sketch, from an ordinary idea that they decided to keep doing until the end.

In all the history of District 42, before Javir there wasn’t anyone who ever tried to go against the Royal Family. Not even a single person. Javir was the first one.

A mediocre robber made his name get spread on the mouth of both, Jarls and commoners. Now, everyone knew about The Shadow of the North.

Raul always took him as an example and idolatrized him as if he was his own father. Javir also saw him as such and helped the future butler to grow up and do amazing things in the future.

Now, Raul finally was in the place that he ever dreamed to be.

After years of struggle, he finally could get where Javir always wanted him to get.

If the Frelsis finally could free themselves and the entire district from those handcuffs, that would be due to his efforts!

He didn’t show it on the outside, but he was ecstatic.

That’s why he could barely hold all that wrath wrapping his being and compelling him to attack Casper right there. He couldn’t let that man alive just to mess with their plans.

Nonetheless...

’This man... They call him... The boss! I wondered a lot of times why he was the leader of the Aesirs. I asked myself why would a scientist lead warriors? But now I can understand very well the motivation. This guy... he isn’t only a scientist, of course. He is no ordinary man. And I am not talking about his intelligence at all, his power is not the ordinary thing here.

’That’s because... even though I have been fighting since a so early age...’ Raul made a complicated expression as his body moved on its own, raising his left foot, ’I never stepped back once.’

And that was it... MMA made the courageous and nonchalant butler step back.

’This man... is the first one to make me feel such pressure, to make me want to run away and let all my objectives aside forever! I never felt like this before... It is... an uncomfortable sensation. I feel like throwing everything out now. I want so badly to run away... That’s not like me!’

The butler tried to reason properly there.

’Ah! That’s so obvious!’ He remembered something.

"I am not holding back here, Aesir! You better escape right now and let me take care of everything. After all..." The butler pointed to Jomurgand, who was just waiting for his call to come and crush those two, "Jomurgand is still there. You need to choose whether you will be fighting me, or that monster over there. If you fight one, the other will catch Casper!"

The Boss just glanced at Jomurgand but didn’t care for it too much.

"So what? I wasn’t planning on fighting you or that killing machine individually. You both can come." He stated as if it was the easiest thing to do.

’What!?’ The butler screamed in his mind, despite maintaining himself composed.

Anyway, he didn’t have anything to say now. He could just assume that the guy was bluffing, but the only way to know was to test that man.

Raul pointed his daggers at Casper and MMA.

"You know what to do. Kill them." He ordered.

Then, Jomurgand began to rush towards them.

MMA turned to that giant destructive machine but still didn’t show any emotions.

Casper was worried about his life. He didn’t know whether he could or not rely on MMA to hold that thing.

’Hey, Yanke. I am concerned now. Is he just bluffing or...’

[ Don’t worry, Master. They are no match for MMA... Actually, it’s hard to picture someone who could. After all, there is no human capable to match a being like him in terms of strength and intelligence. ]

The soldier understood his point and trusted his friend, but a part of his statement got him confused.

’Being...? Why this choice of words? There is a deeper meaning to it?’
