Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 40: Selection Exams (2)
Ark jumped over the corpse of the first monster as another branch attempted to ensnare him.
He turned around to see another orest crawler, this one more menacing than the last. The vines around it were curling like serpents, floating in the air as the beast watched him with malicious intent.
The ground exploded as vines shot out at him causing Ark to almost stumble.
He dashed to the left, switching his axe to his left hand as he looked for an opportunity to strike the beast.
Spiked vines flew forward threatening to tear him to pieces, but Ark quickly hid behind a tree, the bark of the tree exploding as the vines made contact.
The Forest crawler creaked, creating a strange sound as Ark lunged at it.
The spiked vines surrounding the beast unwrapped itself with shocking speed and shot forward, spreading outwards to ensnare him.
Ark sucked in a sharp breath, twisting his body to the side just as a vine whistled past his ear. He deflected the next one with the shaft of his axe before delivering a horizontal slash, tearing apart those that came too close.
Dark blood that smelled like forest leaves spewed out of the vines as the monster recoiled, sending even more vines to keep Ark away.
But his golden eyes gleamed dangerously, just before he grabbed onto one of them, a mischievous smile appearing on his face.
He stopped his dash mid way and put his foot to the ground. "Come to daddy."
Ark forcefully pulled the vine, sending the tree soaring through the air, right toward him...
With no roots and a hollow body, it was far lighter than most trees.
Ark grabbed the shaft of his Axe with both hands, letting go of the vine as the beast came barreling forward.
He took a deep breath.
’Alright..’
Whoosh!
He brought his axe forward in a vertical slash, inching his foot forward as the axe split the entire beast in half, bathing him in its putrid blood.

Seated under a temporary stage were multiple high ranking figures, in front of them was a large screen that was currently showing all examiners as they made their way to the top of the mountain.
In their hands were also smaller tablets that they could use to focus on whatever candidate they were interested in.
A woman with golden blonde hair and Scarlett’s eyes sat cross legged, yawning as she watched the tablet.
She felt terribly sleepy, the exam... it was just far too boring.
"Vice commander! You’re going to make our squad look bad!"
A woman in a business suit and ponytail said as she quickly reached for the tablet before it could slip out of her hands.
"At least make it look like you’re paying attention..."
The blonde woman sighed and took a look around her, taking note of how others stared intently at their screens.
She let out a sigh.
"And button your shirt!" The uptight lady said, reaching for her collar and locking the buttons in place.
"Ugh, but it’s really uncomfortable..." her eyes went down to the woman’s chest. "Well, I guess I can’t count on you to understand."
Her face took on a shade of pink and she shoved the tablet into the blonde woman’s hands. "Vice commander!"
The vice commander let out a small laugh as her eyes strolled to the tablet.
"Oh, something interesting is happening over there."
She tapped on the tab, causing the screen to expand.
"Who is that girl? She’s a beast."

Kiera didn’t bother with running up the mountain, she hated to sweat since sweating came with that awful odour.
So instead, she walked calmly through the forest. She wasn’t bothered about taking first place because she knew that no one was going to beat her to the top.
The ground below her creaked and exploded revealing a large ditch, but Kiera had already jumped to the other side.
The area was empty and yet something was wrong, after all, the ditch didn’t dig itself.
A beast or multiple beasts were stalking her and would be doing throughout the exams if she didn’t do anything about it.
So she stared down at the ditch and sighed.
"Seriously?" Kiera jumped right into the gaping hole, the wind rushing past her ears.
A few seconds later...
Boom!
The earth shook as multiple beasts came flying out of the ditch.
Kiera emerged from the hole a few seconds later and glared at the beasts, crimson blood dripping down her fingers.
They were large mole-like beasts, the biggest one being the side of a small car. They had long spiky fur that was sharp and brittle, long snouts with pointed ends and twelve inch claws that could cut through stone with ease.
These beasts were the devious kind, relying on traps and deception to catch their prey, well not anymore...
Out of the five of them, one of them was already dead while the other four were cautiously watching her with their beastly black eyes.
They almost looked cute... as they trembled in fear.
The largest of them lunged at her with extended claws but the claws just managed to brush past her face as she sidestepped the beast and placed her hands on its underbelly.
Boom!
The innards of the beast exploded outwards, its spine shattered and white pieces of bone stuck out of the creature as its body stiffened, dead.
The other moles tried to escape but instead saw themselves moving backward as though they were being dragged by some sort of invisible force.
Just as they got close to Kiera she rushed forward, appearing before them in the blink of an eye.
The creatures let out a terrified shrill, just as their heads compressed, exploding in a bloody mess.

Kiera wrinkled her nose as she gingerly walked past the corpse.
"Disgusting."
She stared at her armour which was now stained with blood and gore.
Kiera forcefully stomped her foot on the ground in annoyance, ready to throw a tantrum when she remembered that there were cameras everywhere.
She coughed.
I guess I can’t take this slow...
Then she disappeared from view as she blazed through the forest, completely decimating anything that stood in her path.

The blonde lady let out a small laugh as she watched the screen where the girl had just been.
Her crimson eyes glinted with glee as she relaxed her back on her chair, staring intently at the tablet with renewed focus.
"Stormwind’s daughter huh? That girl... she’s almost as scary as her father."
"Oh, and who is this skinny young man?"
