Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Choice

"Tristan Grayson, you bastard! You don’t even like me, so what right do you have to demand that I like you!" Tristan’s words made her feel increasingly aggrieved.

Tristan’s eyes were bloodshot as he roared, "Who says I don’t? I... I... Even if I don’t like you, I’ll still make you like me!" With that, he lowered his head and kissed her.

Mika frantically pushed against him, trying to stop his kiss. But the more she struggled, the tighter he held her, refusing to let her move an inch. In the end, her whole body went limp and powerless...

His touch, in turn, softened. He began to remove her clothes, piece by piece. Before long, they were both... completely... naked.

Tristan held her tightly, possessively staking his claim. "You’re my woman. You’re not allowed to like anyone but me! For the rest of your life, you *must* like me!"

Mika’s face was flushed, her gaze hazy as she looked at this man she could never understand. ’He clearly doesn’t like me, yet he’s still... forcing... me to like him.’ This Tristan was far more terrifying than the one who had humiliated her countless times before. "Tristan, if I made you choose between me and that woman... who would you choose?"

"..." Her question left Tristan completely stunned.

She stared at him, waiting for an answer. ’Since he won’t let me go, and he’s demanding I love him for a lifetime, does that mean there’s even a tiny place for me in his heart? I’ll take a gamble. Just this once.’

But she waited for a long, long time, and still, his answer never came.

The arms that held her body now released her. His gaze was complicated and cold as he looked at her.

In that moment, she understood. ’There’s no place for me in his heart. Not even a tiny one. I’ve completely lost.’

’These past few days together... in the end, it was all just a dream.’

The alcohol made her unsteady on her feet, but her mind was incredibly clear—clearer than it had ever been before.

"So, you still choose that woman." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Tristan clenched his fists and turned away, unable to look at her any longer. "I can’t leave her. Besides, I like her. Being with you... that isn’t a conflict!" ’Right now, Maggie only has me. If I left her, I don’t know how she’d go on living. Maggie only has a year or two left.’ He reasoned that Maggie’s situation didn’t have to affect Mika at all. She would still be the young madam of the Grayson family, his—Tristan Grayson’s—legal wife.

"’Isn’t a conflict?’" His words shattered her completely. Mika slid down the wall to sit on the floor, a cold, mocking sneer her only expression.

Tristan suddenly felt an immense exhaustion, a soul-deep weariness he had never known before. He turned and saw the woman sitting on the floor again. Without a word, he went over, lifted her, dried her body, and placed her back on the bed.

After Tristan placed Mika on the bed, she simply turned her back to him, closed her eyes, and curled into a ball, hugging herself tightly.

Tristan watched her every move. He lay down behind her and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her into his embrace. His voice was hoarse and low. "I promise you... aside from her, I can give you anything else you want."

Mika’s eyes snapped open, completely devoid of emotion. It was the same for her. The only thing she wanted was for him to give up that other woman. Nothing else.

What she wanted was Tristan’s love, but that, in the end, was impossible.
