Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Important

Tristan Grayson’s voice was low, dripping with sarcasm. "Aiden Avery, are you openly trying to steal a woman from me?"

Aiden Avery’s eyes darkened. ’Steal her?’ he thought. ’If Mika had married anyone else, I really would have tried... But it’s Tristan. Morally, I could never allow myself to covet my brother’s wife...’

With that thought, he reached out and pulled Tristan Grayson up from the ground, offering a wry smile. "Tristan, I just want you to understand what’s really most important to you."

"..." An incredibly complex look filled Tristan Grayson’s eyes. He said nothing, simply pulling a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

’What is really important to me?’

’Maggie... I can’t just stand by and watch her suffer, let alone leave her all alone and helpless.’

’I really don’t understand why everyone is pushing me into a corner.’

’My family is pressuring me, that woman is pressuring me, and now even my best friend is pressuring me.’

’Do I really have to choose between them?’

Seeing Tristan about to light a cigarette, Aiden Avery’s brow furrowed in slight surprise. "Didn’t you quit smoking ages ago?"

"The craving’s been coming back lately. Want one?"

Tristan said it so casually, but Aiden knew better than anyone. Tristan had quit for five years; it wasn’t a habit that would just come back so easily. ’So, does this mean Maggie isn’t that important anymore?’

He reached out and took a cigarette. As if their earlier confrontation had never happened, the two of them nonchalantly smoked as they left the hospital.

Before getting into his car, Aiden Avery tossed his cigarette onto the ground and looked at Tristan. "Tristan, what are you going to do about Maggie?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Tristan Grayson’s brows knitted in pain. "I know what I have to do," he said quietly. "Once she’s recovered and back in the country, I’ll lay my cards on the table." ’Maybe it’s because the other woman is having a child that I chose her this time without hesitation.’

’I’m the one who’s wronged Maggie. I can’t give her the happiness she wants... or a family...’

"Tristan, I hope you stick to your word. You can still take care of her as a friend."

In the hospital room, Amelia Avery was curled up barefoot on the sofa, her head bowed as she stared intently at her phone.

Seeing this, Mika Summers and Tiana exchanged a puzzled glance. Finally, Mika frowned and was the first to speak. "You know, Amelia, you don’t have to stay. Tiana is here to keep me company."

"Yeah, that’s right, Amelia. Did you even sleep last night? Why don’t you head home and get some rest?"

The only reason Amelia Avery had stayed was so she could wait for Leo Joyce to pick her up, making it easier to leave with him.

Hearing their words now, she didn’t refuse. She hopped off the sofa, put on her shoes, and said with a smile, "Alright, I’ll get going then. If you need anything, just give me a call. I’ll be here in a flash."

"Okay..." Tiana nodded, confused. She hadn’t expected Amelia to actually leave.

Even though her heart ached for Amelia and she wanted her to get some rest, she still felt like something was very strange.

After Amelia left the room, Tiana gripped Mika Summers’s hand tightly. "Mika," she said uneasily, "don’t you think something’s off with Amelia?"

"What’s off?"

"Amelia... she actually left!"

"Maybe she’s just exhausted..." If Tiana hadn’t mentioned it, Mika truly wouldn’t have suspected anything was wrong with Amelia.

’Tristan and Avery went through so much trouble to find Amelia. What if I lose her again on my watch?’

At that thought, Mika Summers hastily threw back the covers and climbed out of bed.

Seeing Mika run toward the door, Tiana hurried after her, asking fearfully, "Mika, what are you doing?"

Mika looked back at her and offered a reassuring smile. "Tiana, you stay here. Don’t go anywhere. I’m going to check on Amelia."

"I’m going with you."
