Dominate Showbiz: Media Tycoon Discovered My Talent-Chapter 141: Shameless
SMACK.
A slap landed across Niklas’s face.
His eyes went wide with shock, mouth falling agape at the heat burning along the side of his cheek.
"Fucking shameless, that’s what you are, Niklas Morze," Kaija snarled. Her blue eyes were cold and murderous, glaring at the young man still clutching his face.
She hadn’t wanted to resort to such a violent measure, standing right in front of the headquarters of a prestigious magazine. And yet just hearing those disgusting words spill out of Niklas’s mouth, her last restraint shattered.
"Marja Ralpha is probably six months pregnant with your own child now, and you’re here crying to me that you still love me? After you saw me on TV?" Kaija scoffed. "You should be ashamed of yourself. No, actually, I feel so ashamed of myself for wasting four years of my life with scum like you."
Niklas was enraged by both the slap and her insults, but he hadn’t come here and waited for her since morning just to give up this easily. In fact, he had expected her angry reaction beforehand.
"Kaija, please," Niklas begged as he seized the hand that had just struck him. "It was a mistake! My terrible mistake!"
Kaija yanked her hand away at once, unwilling to let his skin touch hers for even a second. "Making my ex–best friend pregnant was a mistake? Calling me a worthless slut for five months straight was a mistake?"
"I wasn’t thinking straight, Kaija, I was terrible!" Niklas insisted, his face twisted with remorse. "I’m only begging you to forgive me so I can make it right! It’s not over between us yet. I know it’s not."
"Excuse me? Not over? I’m pretty sure I made it very clear that we’re done, Niklas. You and I."
"I never agreed to break up! That was only from your side! You can’t just throw everything we had away like that!"
A sound of pure contempt escaped Kaija. She could barely hold back a laugh.
"Don’t be ridiculous, Niklas. Since when does a relationship need agreement from both sides to end? I’m very done with you, and you should know I’m already dating someone new."
Niklas’s face darkened instantly. His hands clenched into fists, as if ready to strike something.
"Who are you dating? Who are you with? Tell me!" he demanded loudly, gripping both her shoulders.
"Someone nicer than you, richer than you, more handsome than you. In short, whoever I’m dating now, he’s five hundred thousand times better than you."
With that, Kaija wrenched her shoulders free from Niklas’s grip. She shoved open the entrance door, muttering coldly, "Now please fuck off and go home to your actual girlfriend and child, before I call my security guys over and force you to."
Esko lunged for the door before it could slam shut, following Kaija inside. He didn’t forget to throw one last contemptuous look at the brown-haired Niklas, who stood frozen in place, shame and defeat written all over his face.
As Niklas watched Kaija disappear behind the elevator inside the building, he threw punches at the wall, until his knuckles blistered red and blood spilled from the broken skin.
Around him, those who had witnessed it raised hands to their mouths. They murmured a few words to each other, or kept their gazes away, though they had overheard everything.
"No... there’s no way I’m going to let you slip away from me so easily, Kaija," Niklas mumbled, clutching his bleeding hand in pain.
Still, the young man remained exactly where he was. He knew when Kaija left the building, she would inevitably have to pass through this entrance again. He had escorted Marja to this place for her photoshoots often enough to know that.
He still had to figure out how, through all the four years they’d been together, Kaija had never said or revealed a single hint that she could sing, and sing that well.
Inside the building, Kaija finally stepped into the elevator with Esko.
"You had one hell of an ex-boyfriend, Kaikai," Esko commented. "Though I have to say, the guy looked pretty decently handsome."
"Handsome indeed. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have fallen for him in the first place."
The things covering Kaija’s face were removed at last. She pulled out her phone, scrolling for the contact of the security team leader Charles had given her.
"Hello, Mr. Alvar... Dalton?" Kaija spoke into the phone. "It’s me, Kaija. Charles told me to call you when I needed your help. There’s something important I need you to assist me with."
"Is there any security concern inside the building, Ms. Sepala, or is this regarding the man who just made physical contact with you at the entrance?" the man called Alvar Dalton replied.
"So you saw him," Kaija mused, then her voice brightened. "If he’s still lingering around and doesn’t leave within the next fifteen minutes for no good reason, would you mind sending some of your people over and making him go? I want him gone before I finish my interview, and I don’t want to see him anywhere near my sight again."
"We were about to intervene when you resolved the situation yourself, Ms. Sepala. Of course, we’ll take care of him from now on, as you wish. You won’t need to worry about him anymore."
The call ended, leaving a satisfied smile on Kaija’s face.
When the elevator arrived, she followed Esko into a waiting room.
Apparently, Kaija wasn’t the only artist invited for interviews today. When she entered, another beautiful woman was already inside, lounging on the couch with a cup of tea perfectly poised in her hand.
Her hair, a vivid vermillion red, caught Kaija’s attention the moment she stepped into the room.
"Oh, we’ve met again," the woman said, a calm smile playing on her red lips.
Esko’s face nearly turned as green as his own hair at the sight of the woman, yet Kaija appeared unfazed.
"Juliana," she greeted, taking a seat on the couch opposite the famed singer.
