Don't confiscate my identity as a human race-Chapter 1329 - 830: Lanci’s Unwavering Dedication to Work
The Moon Goddess Festival is one of the grandest public celebrations in the empire, eagerly anticipated by both commoners and noble families alike.
Aside from the temporary stalls attracting tourists at the Saint Kray Monastery, activities near the Main Hall began at four in the afternoon.
Students and staff of the monastery dressed in formal attire gathered in the specially constructed outdoor banquet hall and its adjoining event pavilion, clinking glasses and exchanging blessings and conversations amidst the melodious music.
The outdoor banquet hall differed only slightly from its indoor counterpart, with even more lively crowds gathering outside.
Celebrities and aristocrats mingled, their laughter and discussions filling the space, as the clinking of glasses resonated throughout the event.
Strangely, amidst such a festive and bustling atmosphere, a professor in a gray coat seemed entirely uninterested in participating.
He appeared popular, with many eager to either curry favor with him or merely chat for a moment.
Yet today, he seemed visibly exhausted, replying politely but briefly, genuinely smiling only when conversing with students, before moving forward again.
"Where was Elsa again..."
Lanci surveyed the sprawling banquet hall.
Within the inner section of the monastery's Main Hall stood four magnificent Holy Temples, their golden domes crafted from pure gold and divided into two tiers. The temples were vibrant with incense, and a constant stream of monastery students approached the statues in devout prayer, their voices of supplication blending with the solemn tones of the pipe organ echoing under the dome.
Now, having just returned indoors from the outdoor banquet area, Lanci contemplated where his younger sister Elsa might be. Given the expanse of the event, locating her would undoubtedly take some effort.
Magic communication was ineffective here, nor could he casually use Detection Magic. Frankly, Lanci wasn't proficient in connection or detection-based magic, requiring help from Cat Boss or Tata, neither of whom were currently with him.
Moreover, Elsa was only Second-order and couldn't use standard communication magic.
"I'll search slowly then."
Lanci shook his head.
He would simply take this opportunity for a stroll, blessing any students he encountered and inquiring whether they'd seen Elsa.
Should he happen across Elsa's close friend Ursula—Marquis Griffin's daughter—the chances of finding Elsa would improve significantly.
Since Elsa was attacked last time, Ursula had stayed glued to her side, even sleeping in the same dormitory at night.
"Bless the students, have dinner, then it'll likely be time to meet Headmaster Violet. How quickly time flies."
The real reason he had to set aside his pressing work to appear today was something he still couldn't quite pinpoint.
Perhaps, on one hand, fulfilling official duties as required by Landry's responsibilities, ensuring decorum at events he needed to attend. On the other hand, today was the only respite he'd had, an opportunity to step back momentarily from work—so Lanci came.
Within the indoor event hall, idle chatter could be heard from both the upper and lower floors.
"Did you hear? A professor at our school married both his aunt and niece."
"Oh my god, then how does he even address his mother-in-law—or wait—his sister-in-law? What a mess!"
"I suspect he's set his sights on his sister-in-law too. She's got such an innocent-looking face, and rumor has it she's already married with a child."
"What I heard is even crazier: some say the professor's ultimate goal is to marry the sister-in-law's husband and take the entire family. No exceptions."
"Wow, that's just insane. Is he even human anymore?"
The scattered whispers flickered through the banquet hall, never staying long enough for Lanci to discern the full details before being drowned out by new voices.
These were merely the age-old subjects people indulged in for idle entertainment.
Lanci focused solely on moving forward.
He was determined to perform his duties well.
Having journeyed from his residential district several kilometers away, he hadn't even paused for water or rest, yet now, in the banquet hall, he felt parched.
The vast expanse of the Saint Kray Monastery made an impression—during his initial visit to the school, Miss Nyla, the headmaster's secretary, had driven him from the Main Hall to his residence, and even that took a fair amount of time.
As these thoughts swirled in his mind, Lanci stepped into the expansive atrium of the first-floor banquet hall, sensing countless gazes aiming at him from all directions.
Their undisguised scrutiny was clear—interest in him seemed to be growing.
The majority were likely parents of students from Saint Kray Monastery, alongside significant representatives from the Cerryti Empire's elite circles. Naturally, Lanci's involvement in groundbreaking energy research—both for military and civilian purposes—garnered immense attention. As a core figure in this research, Professor Landry was someone worth knowing.
Should Professor Landry's status rise further in the future, forming connections with him would only become more difficult.
The best Lanci could do was to walk quickly yet courteously, striving to find students he could speak to before these individuals swarmed him—or better yet, locate an exit from this massive hall and head to the next pavilion.
"Professor Landry."
A light, clear voice suddenly rang out, capturing Lanci's attention.
Lanci turned his head, discovering a slender figure, no taller than his shoulder, who had quietly walked up to him. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Her left leg and right arm were metallic prosthetics, and her left eye was concealed by a black half-patch, its strap extending to the back of her head, seamlessly blending with her flowing hair.
