Chapter 1196: Chapter 1196: Resembling Mourning Attire

July Quinn sits at the dining table, saying she’s cold and wants some hot soup.

So now Laura Quinn and Richard Donovan are both busy.

Laura is busy making the mushroom mince soup that July likes, while Richard personally stokes the fire in the fireplace for her.

When Kyle Keaton sees her, he immediately half-squats in front of her, holding her hand as he asks, "July, why didn’t you answer my calls just now?"

Whether it was his overly intense emotions or some other reason, July felt a bit uncomfortable and brushed his hand away.

"I was driving just now, didn’t have time to answer," July replied.

"Then why didn’t you go to the style center I booked for you? Where did you go?"

Kyle asked again.

"I thought it was too far, so I found a style center nearby."

July sipped her hot water, looking as if she were very cold.

Logically, Kyle should have been warming her hands himself at this moment. In the past, he would do so; even if July rejected him, he would insist on holding her hands in his.

But today...

For some reason, he lacked the impulse to do that.

Was it because July didn’t follow his plan, didn’t go for the style he meticulously arranged?

He didn’t know; Kyle himself was unsure of what was going on.

And July was suddenly indifferent to him.

The atmosphere between them suddenly became a bit tense.

Fortunately, Laura then brought out the hot soup.

"July, your favorite mushroom mince soup is ready, quickly drink it to warm up,"

"Thanks, Mom."

July took the hot soup and started eating it eagerly.

Laura also invited Kyle to drink with them: "Keaton, you sit down and drink too, I made plenty."

Kyle nodded, suddenly remembering something, asked July, "Do you still eat instant noodles? I brought some."

"Instant noodles?"

July saw Kyle casually take out a bag of instant noodles from his pocket. Unsure whether she was afraid her mom would find out or for some other reason, her expression froze slightly.

But soon, she composed herself and said, "I’ll have them later."

Laura also murmured, "Instant noodles aren’t healthy; you’d better have the mushroom mince soup."

With Laura mediating, although Kyle’s offer was rejected, he peacefully sat at the dining table with July, drinking soup.

As they were drinking the soup, Laura suddenly accidentally murmured, "July, I think your dress is really too plain, why not change it later?"

Indeed, July’s white dress, with a strapless design, reached down to her ankles.

It looked elegant and grand, but the color was as white as mourning attire.

Perhaps it was the morning’s unease that made Laura dislike this feeling.

"Unlikely, I think it’s quite beautiful."

July seemed to quite like the dress, holding the hem with a joyful expression.

"Alright, as long as you like it."

Kyle listened to the mother-daughter conversation, the crease between his brows deepening further, without saying anything.

Soon, the move-in party commenced as planned.

When July, accompanied by Laura and Richard, slowly descended the curved staircase, people gasped in surprise.

"This girl is the Earl, impossible, right? So young?"

"Could it be the gentleman with white hair beside her who’s the Earl? The Earl manages the stock market so skillfully, I bet he’s not someone as young as this girl!"

"That girl looks so much like Laura Quinn. Isn’t she Laura’s biological daughter!"

"I heard rumors about Laura having a secret daughter before, didn’t expect the rumors to be true..."

People chattered away.

And standing in the corner, Jennings quietly raised his glass to the slowly descending July Quinn, with a wicked smile...
