Don't Want to Be Ordinary Even Though I'm an Extra Character-Chapter 94: [93] The Behemoth’s Fall
-Third-Person Perspective-
Arkan tightened his grip on his telescope, his eyes locked on the monstrous figure below.
A boss monster...
He exhaled heavily, forcing himself to suppress the growing unease creeping into his thoughts.
This was no ordinary monster.
In the original novel, Rainer had fought one, but it had been a twisted version, altered by the Evil God’s cult—a creature overflowing with hatred and curses.
But this one...
This was its true form—the natural ruler of this forest.
Hellbound Behemoth.
The soldiers below stood frozen, some even taking unconscious steps back as the monster’s overwhelming aura weighed down on them.
Arkan snapped his telescope shut and gave his orders sharply.
"Prepare the mortars! Target that thing! Keep some ammunition in reserve for unforeseen threats!"
"YES, SIR!" The artillery crew moved swiftly, loading the next round.
Below, Rainer tightened his grip on his spear, his eyes locked on the colossal beast before them.
Beside him, Kael hissed under his breath.
"You know what that is?"
Rainer swallowed hard.
"Yeah... I do."
Kael shot him a sharp look.
"Good. Then you also know how to kill it, right?"
Rainer let out a dry chuckle.
"In theory, yes... But pulling it off? That’s another story."
Kael scoffed.
"Damn it... This is going to be a lot harder than I thought."
From his vantage point, Arkan tapped the wooden table beside him.
"Distance?" he asked, without looking away from the battlefield.
An artillery officer quickly responded.
"Target is within range, sir! We can fire on your command!"
Arkan nodded, eyes narrowing.
If we can slow it down with artillery, the troops below might have a chance.
But before he could issue the order—
The monster moved.
With a single massive step, the Hellbound Behemoth surged forward, faster than expected.
The ground trembled violently, and massive trees collapsed with just a single shove of its enormous body.
"SHIT!" Arkan shouted.
"FIRE NOW!"
BOOOOM!
A thunderous explosion shook the battlefield.
The mortar shell struck the Behemoth’s back, shattering part of its jagged armor.
The monstrous creature let out an enraged roar, its body quivering from the impact.
Dark black blood oozed from the cracks in its bone plating.
But it was still standing.
Still moving.
Arkan gritted his teeth, watching intensely.
"That wound isn’t enough... They have to target its head."
He turned to Florence, who stood silently beside him, waiting for orders.
"Florence. You have a mission."
The woman’s expression remained unreadable, but she nodded once. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Understood."
Without hesitation, she leaped from the cliffside, disappearing into the shadows of the forest below.
Deliver them the message. This isn’t just about holding the line.
This is about killing that thing.
Arkan let out a slow breath, his gaze drifting to the moonlit sky for a brief moment—before locking back onto the battlefield.
They had to end this before it was too late.
Panic spread through the ranks of the newly trained soldiers.
Their breathing was ragged, sweat dripped down their faces, and their hands trembled against their rifles.
Some even considered turning back.
But then—
A voice cut through the chaos like a blade.
"DON’T RETREAT! HOLD THE LINE!"
Kael’s roar thundered over the battlefield, his presence an unshakable pillar of authority.
On the other side, Rainer moved swiftly, his spear and sword carving through lesser monsters with deadly precision.
His mind wasn’t just focused on fighting—he was analyzing.
The Hellbound Behemoth...
The wound on its back is deep, but it’s not enough to stop it. We need a direct hit to the head.
He recalled the monster encyclopedia he had studied back at Astoria’s library.
Its weak point was located at the back of its skull, where the central nerves connected to the spinal cord.
Then—
A blur of movement passed through the ranks.
"Florence!" Rainer immediately recognized her presence.
Florence moved like the wind, weaving through the battlefield with unreal speed.
She vaulted over corpses, ducked beneath monstrous claws, and stabbed silver daggers into vital points with precision—never once losing momentum.
When she finally reached Rainer and Kael, she spoke in a low, urgent voice.
"Aim the mortars at its head. It’s the only way."
Kael’s eyes narrowed, then he nodded.
After confirming the information, he turned toward Rainer, who was already charging forward, cutting through the monster horde in an attempt to reach the Behemoth.
"RAINER! MAKE IT LOWER ITS HEAD!"
Rainer heard the command, didn’t respond—just acted.
But the sheer number of monsters swarming him made it impossible to move forward.
"Damn it, there’s too many—"
His eyes flashed sharply.
Then, he activated his own technique—one he had created himself.
Channeling Force into his spear, he launched—
Thunder Step.
BOOM!
In an instant, lightning crackled across the battlefield.
Rainer vanished in a streak of blue light, blitzing past the horde of monsters.
But just as he neared the Behemoth—
A massive red-furred beast suddenly blocked his path, roaring in challenge.
A Crimson Bear...!
No time to slow down.
Rainer planted his foot firmly into the ground, channeling Force into his muscles.
DOOM!
With one brutal swing, his spear pierced straight through the bear’s skull.
Blood erupted into the air as the colossal beast collapsed.
But Rainer didn’t even glance back.
He already knew—
That final strike hadn’t been his alone.
Behind him—
The infantry fired their rifles, following Kael’s orders.
"PROTECT RAINER!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunfire ripped through the battlefield, clearing a path as bullets tore through the lesser monsters blocking his way.
"Just a little more...!"
But the Hellbound Behemoth wasn’t an opponent that could be taken down so easily.
Its massive horns began to vibrate, crackling with energy.
"Shit, that’s—!"
Rainer immediately recognized the danger.
The Behemoth’s horns held a unique ability—they could unleash a devastating lightning blast within a 50-meter radius.
If I get caught in that attack, I’m dead.
This battle’s difficulty far exceeded anything he had ever faced.
With what little Force he had left, he needed one decisive strike to bring its head down.
Gale Fang.
Rainer channeled Force into his spear, creating a spiraling vortex of wind along its blade.
WHOOOSH!
The air whipped violently around his spear, drastically increasing its penetration power.
As he closed the distance to the colossal monster, Rainer leapt high into the air.
"HAAAH!"
CRACK!
His spear pierced the Behemoth’s horn, shattering the crystalline structure that stored its electrical energy.
BOOOOM!
A thunderous roar shook the battlefield as the severed horn crashed to the ground, sending wild arcs of lightning across the field.
But Rainer wasn’t done yet.
The Behemoth’s head was still raised—they needed one more strike!
Gale Fang: Second Strike.
Even as pain wracked his body, Rainer forced himself to attack again.
"UGHH!"
His spear whirled in a deadly arc—
Then—
DOOOOM!
The second strike smashed into the Behemoth’s skull, causing it to let out an ear-splitting shriek of agony.
The massive head finally began to lower.
Rainer crashed to the ground, his body too exhausted to move.
But he had done it.
The Behemoth was in the perfect position for the final blow.
From atop the ridge, Arkan didn’t hesitate.
He raised his hand.
"FIRE!!"
DOOOM!
The mortar shell soared through the sky—
And then—
KABOOOM!
The explosion engulfed the Behemoth’s head, obliterating it instantly.
A wave of silence washed over the battlefield.
Then—
The mighty Hellbound Behemoth collapsed.
The word echoed in the hearts of every soldier on the battlefield.
They had won.
The ruler of the forest had fallen.
The Rune Stone mine was now within their grasp.
But not everyone was still standing to celebrate.
Kael remained cautious, even as the tension eased.
He knelt beside Rainer, lifting his unconscious body.
Underload...
Kael let out a quiet sigh.
Force was a powerful gift, but its cost was steep.
Those who pushed past their limits suffered from extreme exhaustion, sometimes collapsing for hours or even days.
And in Rainer’s case—he had used everything he had.
From the cliffside, Arkan watched through his telescope and smirked slightly.
"He still has a long way to go... But this is a good start."
In the original novel, Rainer—at the peak of his strength—could fight for eight hours straight using Force without showing any signs of fatigue.
That feat had earned him the title of the strongest warrior in the world.
But today...
He was still far from that point.
Through his telescope, Arkan watched as Rainer was carried back to the rear for treatment.
The Aftermath – Temporary Medical Camp
Kael issued commands as the battlefield quieted.
"We move out slowly! Stay on guard—this forest is still full of monsters!"
They had defeated the Hellbound Behemoth, but that didn’t mean this land was safe.
The infantry regrouped, while the logging teams moved forward, clearing the path toward the mine’s entrance.
Meanwhile, in the makeshift medical tents, the scene was still chaotic.
This world lacked proper medical professionals.
As Arkan had already anticipated, medicine in this world was primitive—relying too much on healing magic.
But there was one major problem—
Healing magic was monopolized by the Northern Church.
Which meant only nobles and the wealthy had access to proper treatment.
As for common soldiers?
They were left to fate.
"This can’t continue."
That was why Arkan had trained his own medics.
Inside the tent, three young men worked tirelessly.
They weren’t mages, but Arkan had personally taught them the basics of modern medicine—
How to stop bleeding, how to apply proper bandages, how to set broken bones.
A wounded soldier winced as a bandage was wrapped tightly around his arm.
"I know it hurts, but bear with it a little longer," one of the medics said—his tone calm but firm.
On the other side of the tent, Rainer still lay unconscious.
One of the medics wiped sweat from his forehead and glanced at his colleague.
"Are you sure he’s just exhausted?"
"Yes. No serious injuries."
But outside the tent—
Kael stood with his arms crossed, watching from afar.
What kind of leader thinks about things like this...?
Arkan was unlike anyone Kael had ever met.
And because of that—
Kael knew, with absolute certainty—
Choosing to side with Arkan had been the right decision.
