Doted By The Regent King-Chapter 1470 - 1408: Joy
The night was growing late. After parting with Guan Chuying and her brother, Wufu and Ah Jiu hurried home.
"So, how was it? Did you enjoy your game with Guan Chuliao?" Wufu asked, looking at Ah Jiu.
As the saying goes, playing chess reveals a person’s character. Wufu actually wanted to ask Ah Jiu what he thought of Guan Chuliao. Was he someone worth being friends with?
"Not bad, he’s a gentleman with a good character—a suitable friend," Ah Jiu replied with a smile. "He’s just a bit young, and his perspective isn’t broad enough. But with more experience and time, he’ll surely become someone remarkable."
Guan Chuliao is a nice person, just still young and not seeing things thoroughly. With the right guidance and more experience, he should become a great ally.
"You sound so mature, as if you’re so much older, yet you’ve only just come of age." Wufu rolled her eyes, unable to stand his pretentious maturity.
She felt a bit tired, leaning against the soft cushion in the carriage, supporting her head with one hand as she looked sideways at Ah Jiu.
Seeing this, Ah Jiu felt a warm sensation in his heart and lay down on his side as well, supporting his head and meeting her gaze. "I’ve been through more than he has," he said.
Wufu understood what he meant and sighed, "Ah, the Imperial Family, the position is inherently much more complex."
Ah Jiu’s gaze fell on the hand resting on her waist. He reached over, gently pinching her fingers, and asked while caressing them between his own, "Are you afraid?"
Wufu narrowed her eyes slightly, "I’m not afraid." It’s nothing but scheming and plots, which are worthless in the face of absolute power.
She looked at him. Even lying like this, his face was handsome, with a straight nose, deep eyes, and lips of the right fullness. Yes, handsome.
Ah Jiu looked at her too, under the light of the Luminous Pearl, her lips appeared even more shimmering, especially as she stared at him like that...
"Am I handsome?"
"Hmm? Oh."
"You look like you want to eat me," Ah Jiu said with a grin.
Wufu’s eyes lit up, "Yes, thank you for reminding me!" She withdrew her hand from his, hooking her arm around his neck, and said, "I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time."
Ah Jiu was overjoyed by her initiative, her passion, and her affection.
So happy!
In that moment of distraction, Wufu opened her eyes, frowning in dissatisfaction, "You’re not focused."
Her teasing made Ah Jiu’s heart ache a little, but rationality prevailed. He tapped her nose, "You silly girl."
"You?" Wufu frowned, wondering if he was rejecting her.
Ah Jiu held her hand, flicked her nose, saying, "Wufu, not yet. Wait until we are married, then I’ll be yours to take as you please."
Now, he would rather endure and save it for the best moment. He didn’t want to wrong her; she deserved the best, and he should give her the greatest honor and respect.
Hearing this, Wufu felt incredibly comforted. Her displeasure vanished like the wind, and she teased, "You think I’m the silly one!?"
Anyone else probably would have devoured her by now, but from a different perspective, it showed that the man she fancied was indeed an upstanding guy. Yes, her taste wasn’t bad, and Ah Jiu hadn’t let her down!
Seeing her coquettish demeanor, Ah Jiu’s heart softened even more. It wasn’t excessive, but taking a small advantage was still possible.
Before long, the carriage was filled with bursts of joyful laughter, and the guards riding outside all wore knowing smiles.
