Chapter 1486: Chapter 1424: Changping’s Troubled Thoughts

As Wufu and Guan Chuying chatted about the leisurely matters of Changan City, the carriage arrived at the Jingkang Prince’s Mansion. Today, Guan Chuying had arranged to meet Wufu to visit Changping together.

After handing in the invitation card, someone escorted the two inside, where they first paid respects to the Princess Consort of Jingkang.

"It’s good that you’re here. Please try to persuade that girl on my behalf," the Princess Consort of Jingkang said wearily.

Wufu and Guan Chuying exchanged a glance, their eyes heavy with concern. They bade farewell to the Princess Consort and followed the maid to Changping’s courtyard.

"Commandery Princess, Miss Wufu and Miss Guan have come to see you," Qing Xin reported after entering.

Soon, they heard Changping’s voice inviting them in. Upon entering, they saw Changping standing by the window, staring absentmindedly at two large pots of camellias outside.

She turned her head, startling both of them.

Her face looked thin and gaunt, and her clothes were loose, as if a child had donned adult attire, which was quite unfit.

"How did you become so thin?" Guan Chuying exclaimed in surprise.

"You’re here, have a seat." Changping forced a smile, gesturing to a nearby chaise lounge.

Wufu frowned and asked, "What happened? Chuying said you’re unwell."

"Indeed, I’m ill, heart-sick," Changping replied with a mocking smile. "Or perhaps it’s just a case of sentimental malady."

Hearing this, Wufu’s frown deepened.

"What’s really going on? We’re here, you can tell us," Guan Chuying said with concern. "As the saying goes, two heads are better than one. Let’s plan together, your mother consort is worried about you."

Unexpectedly, upon hearing these words, Changping gave a sarcastic laugh and said coldly, "She’s worried about me? If she truly cared, she wouldn’t force me to marry that hypocrite Song Wei." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Both were taken aback, exchanging a glance.

"Is it an alliance between Jingkang Prince’s Mansion and Prince Wei’s Manor?" Wufu asked.

Changping nodded, her eyes gradually turning red, and tears streamed from her now disproportionately large eyes due to her thinness, but she stubbornly wiped them away. "She always talks about Prince Wei’s Manor having great power and status, how marrying into it would elevate my status, yet she never considers whether I want it or not. I don’t like Song Wei at all, nor do I want to marry him."

"Haven’t you spoken to the Princess Consort?" Guan Chuying asked.

"She won’t listen." Changping wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and said, "In her mind, all that matters is social status, claiming that romantic love is an illusion, only power and riches are real."

"All the more reason to explain to her clearly and resist to the end," Wufu frowned and said. "A marriage without willingness won’t last."

"It’s useless. In this Imperial family, for the dignified position I enjoy, I must make corresponding sacrifices. I’m not like you, having a mother who listens to everything you say," Changping glanced at Wufu and then at Guan Chuying. "Nor like you, having a mother who genuinely cares and plans for you."

Wufu and Guan Chuying were momentarily speechless.

"Regardless, you must clearly and thoroughly express your thoughts to her. Changping, happiness is in your own hands; you have to strive for it. If you do nothing and just dream of getting it, it relies on fortune." Wufu said calmly, "Instead of blaming, you should think of ways, like letting them see the potential problems in Prince Wei’s Manor, the character of Crown Prince Song, and whether you’re truly suitable for that manor. Analyze these points with them, and perhaps form alliances if necessary."

Changping was momentarily stunned. "Will that work?"

"How will you know if you don’t try?" Wufu raised her eyebrows slightly; one must make an effort to know the outcome.
