Doted By The Regent King-Chapter 1504 - 1442: Until We Meet Again
A crisp and refreshing tea aroma wafted through the air. Hua Wushuang’s ears perked up, and hearing Ah Jiu’s words, he tilted the corner of his mouth upward. He handed two cups of tea to the pair in front of him, looking at the young couple, feeling acutely aware of how time passes.
Back then, he too had his moments of youthful recklessness. But later... later those times were gone, and that person who was once so important to him is no longer here either.
Hua Wushuang watched the two as they bantered with exaggerated facial expressions, the corners of his mouth persistently curved up, as if he were observing two juniors playfully bicker. His mind, however, wandered to unknown places.
Wufu noticed the sorrow in his eyes, an inexplicable tightness tugging at his heart, squeezing Ah Jiu’s hand under the table.
Ah Jiu noticed it too, pressing his lips together.
The room grew quiet, with only the melancholic atmosphere lingering, stifling and hard to breathe.
Knock, knock.
Someone knocked on the door, bringing Hua Wushuang back to the present as he spoke, "Come in."
Hua Jinhuan entered with a young servant carrying a tray, placing a few delicate plates of pastries on the table.
"Go back to the front and keep watch. There’s no need for you here, but we rely on you up front," Hua Wushuang smiled at Hua Jinhuan and said.
Hua Jinhuan hesitated for a moment, then obediently retreated. Before leaving, he gave Wufu and Ah Jiu a warning glance.
"Your Mother Hua is fiercely loyal, his eyes seem ready for a fight if we so much as touch you," Wufu sneered.
Hua Wushuang replied, "And will you?"
"Master of Unparalleled Tower has risen Unparalleled Tower to the top position in Nianhua Alley. How could we easily shake that?" Wufu scoffed.
Hua Wushuang looked at her, "Yet you still act as if Unparalleled Tower is devoid of people, causing trouble here!"
"It’s all a misunderstanding. Profligates exist everywhere, don’t they?" Wufu teased.
"And what about the Crown Prince Wei then?"
"That’s just personal enmity!" Wufu looked at him, "If Master of Unparalleled Tower knew someone sought to take away, unable to reach you, and found someone resembling you in some way, teaching them your every move and gesture just to act unscrupulously, how would you react?"
Upon hearing this, Ah Jiu gripped his hand tightly, anger blazing.
"Imitations remain imitations. No matter how similar, it’s not the real person. Why should I care?" Hua Wushuang sneered coldly, "As long as they don’t come at me directly, no matter how many people they get to mimic me, it’s futile."
Wufu sighed, "That’s true, but just thinking about it sends chills down your spine, feeling displeased without doing something to straighten things out."
Hua Wushuang looked at her, meeting Wufu’s candid gaze, her dark eyes unwavering.
Hua Wushuang seemed momentarily dazed, clasping the cup in his hand, a fleeting look of confusion in his eyes.
"What exactly did Master of Unparalleled Tower invite us here for?" Ah Jiu disliked this Master of Unparalleled Tower, for he always managed to capture Wufu’s attention.
Hua Wushuang said, "Isn’t inviting you to tea enough?" He pointed to the cups before them.
Utterly boring!
Ah Jiu snorted coldly, pulling Wufu to her feet, "We’re leaving!"
"Ah, but we haven’t had the tea yet!" Wufu was quite fond of the tea aroma.
"We’ll have plenty at home!" Ah Jiu glared at her, dragging her toward the door.
Wufu had to turn her head and wave at Hua Wushuang, who didn’t attempt to stop them, "Master of Unparalleled Tower, until we meet again!"
Hua Wushuang smiled, raising the cup in his hand, still saying nothing.
The two soon walked out the door, and he finally sighed. Ah, young people, indeed this is the arrogance that belongs to them.
