Chapter 630: Chapter 629 Wufu’s Extensive Connections
Wufu accompanied Wen Congrui to his own little garden for a stroll. Wen Congrui saw a large empty space in one corner, simply leveled with turf, and grew curious.
"What is that empty space going to be used for?" he asked curiously.
Wufu glanced over and said, "That’s for the servants and me to practice martial arts on regular days."
Wen Congrui’s eyes flickered, "Yours?"
Wufu nodded, "The servants can come too."
Wen Congrui raised an eyebrow, "You are quite active. Many women prefer tranquility, but you are not like that. I thought you enjoyed sculpting and would cherish quietness accordingly."
Wufu laughed, "Why don’t you say I’m good at both action and tranquility?"
Wen Congrui smiled delightedly, "A fine ’good at both action and tranquility.’ You sure know how to praise yourself," and not even blushing in the slightest.
"Wrong, this is honesty," Wufu quipped with a sly blink.
Wen Congrui was momentarily stunned, then his laughter became even more merry.
When Xiao Li, following Jadeite, arrived at the garden, he saw the two of them laughing with each other and his gaze sharpened, but it quickly relaxed.
Seeing Xiao Li coming over, Wufu hosted Wen Congrui to sit down in the small pavilion and then went to meet Xiao Li.
Wen Congrui glanced from the corner of his eye, recognizing the young servant as the one who had followed Wufu before, apparently the attendant of her friend, a ponderous look flitted across his eyes.
"How come you’re here?" Wufu asked Xiao Li.
Xiao Li made a bow and said with a smile, "Our master procured two baskets of fresh cherries and had this servant bring a basket for you to try. Also, the signboard for your shop is ready. The master asked this servant to inquire whether you have picked a day for the grand opening, so we know when to deliver the signboard." He paused then added, "I’m not sure if the signboard meets your expectations. If you have time, you are more than welcome to take a look. If it’s not satisfactory, we can change it early."
Wufu laughed and said, "Please thank your master for me. I have a guest today; I will find time to look at it tomorrow."
Xiao Li immediately beamed. "This servant will relay your message. The master will definitely welcome you magnanimously."
Wufu gave him a look, secretly finding it odd that this boy was quite talkative today.
Having delivered the message, Xiao Li did not linger and bowed to take his leave.
Wufu instructed Jadeite to see him out and also asked her to bring over a dish of cherries.
Returning to the pavilion, Wen Congrui held his tea and sipped lightly, smilingly asking, "Did I come at an inopportune time today? Do you have things to attend to? That young servant seems familiar, like I’ve seen him in the estate town before."
"Hmm, he was fulfilling his master’s request, bringing something over," Wufu answered with a smile.
It wasn’t long before Jadeite came with a dish of fresh cherries, placed it on the table, and curtseyed to step aside.
In the pink and white dish were cherry-sized fruits, strikingly delightful. The fruits were dotted with water droplets, enticing one’s appetite.
"You should try some," Wufu said as she popped a cherry into her mouth and smiled, "They’re very sweet."
Wen Congrui’s mouth curled slightly, his eyes twinkling. He picked up a cherry, seemingly asking casually, "Are these the ones your friend sent over?"
"Yes, they are."
"Wufu has a wide circle of friends. I’ve seen that gentleman from a distance. His demeanor is extraordinary. I wonder whose son he is?" Wen Congrui asked as he spat out a cherry pit.
Wufu lowered her eyelids and smiled, "They say one shouldn’t ask about the hero’s origins. The same goes for making friends. I don’t know which family’s young master he is. Whether he is rich or poor, noble or lowly, it doesn’t matter to me."
Wen Congrui smiled faintly, "Wufu is generous; Runzhi admires that," then he changed the subject.
