Chapter 13 - 13: Tactical Planning and Tier-3 Physical Enhancement!

Lin Fan gazed at the cocoon where his Blade Queen was incubating. Although his heart brimmed with anticipation, there was little he could do but wait.

This was, after all, a Zerg hero-class unit—a title with immense weight even in the original StarCraft lore.

In the vast swarm of the Zerg, there was once only a single chosen Blade Queen. And now? He could evolve and create them at will.

The Blade Queen was essentially the second-in-command of the Zerg—capable of commanding units, leading development, and orchestrating conquest.

And this one would be even more special: the host body was none other than Xiao Wu, a 100,000-year-old soul beast.

Lin Fan's excitement only grew. He couldn't wait to see what sort of surprise this reborn Blade Queen would bring him.

After calming his thoughts, he connected to the Zerg network and checked his remaining energy points:

[Energy: 4,431]

The upgrade to Tier-3 Hive had cost him a full 100,000 energy points, and transforming Xiao Wu into a Blade Queen had taken another 1,000. The drones had managed to recover a bit more energy from soul beast corpses via the Corruption Pools, but right now he was basically broke.

He stared longingly at the long list of new units and structures. He wanted to mass-produce—but sadly, his wallet said otherwise.

For now, he'd have to focus on testing what he could.

"Overmind, hatch an Overlord."

[Acknowledged. Initiating incubation.]

A Zerg egg rapidly swelled and was enveloped by the Creep, transforming into a massive spore pod.

This pod was huge—even the egg inside was balloon-sized. It was almost as big as a Level 1 Hive Core!

Within the pod, a thick-bodied silhouette writhed and surged upward.

Lin Fan watched in amazement. "This might be the largest Zerg unit I've created yet..."

Good thing the underground tunnels were massive—but were the exits big enough?

And weren't Overlords flying units?

Scratching his head, Lin Fan asked, "Overmind, display Overlord data."

[Overlord: Large airborne Zerg unit (Physically enhanced)]

New n𝙤vel chapters are published on freeweɓnøvel.com.

Function: Though it possesses no combat ability, the Overlord's body contains organic wormhole technology and vacuum float bladders, enabling it to freely navigate vacuum environments. It's the optimal choice for Zerg travel and interstellar deployment.

Skill 1: Creep Spray – Continuously disperses Creep spores over terrain during flight, expanding Zerg territory.

Skill 2: Jet Propulsion – Thanks to its light internal structure, the Overlord can expel stored energy to boost its speed. (Base speed: 160 km/h; Boosted: 360 km/h)

Skill 3: Aerial Reconnaissance – Can scout and monitor a 5-kilometer radius from above.

"Ah, right!"

Lin Fan instantly realized—Overlords were essentially flying transport ships and scouts. They could carry Zerg forces across the skies and drop them on enemies from above for surprise strikes.

While not flashy in a direct fight, the Overlord's mobility and recon utility made it invaluable.

But what excited Lin Fan the most were its Creep-spreading and aerial vision capabilities.

Previously, expanding Creep required slowly branching off from existing Creep—or hatching new Hive Cores to generate more. Both methods were time-consuming or energy-intensive.

The Overlord fixed that perfectly.

Once the Star Dou Forest was covered in Creep (now modified to resemble lush grass), Zerg forces would be able to regenerate health and energy right under their feet, making them relentless and near-unkillable.

Zerg would enter true war machine mode.

Lin Fan rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then turned his attention to the Spine Crawler structure.

It boasted wide-area attack power but required Creep to be built.

But if paired with the Overlord's airborne deployment of Creep...

This meant he could transform the Spine Crawler from a defensive turret into a mobile siege weapon.

"Overmind, display Spine Crawler info!"

[Spine Crawler: Offensive Structure]

[Skill: Piercing Strike | Effective Range: 2,500 meters]

Lin Fan's eyes lit up. 2.5 kilometers of attack range?!

It was more than viable.

He could deploy Zerg ground troops to engage enemies directly, while Creep behind them enabled quick deployment of Spine Crawlers and Hydralisks. Between melee, mid-range acid, and long-range spike artillery, he'd have complete battlefield coverage.

"Overmind, order the Drones to dig a vertical tunnel from the cavern to the surface wide enough for Overlords. Make sure the surface entrance is concealed."

[Acknowledged. Your will is absolute.]

Dozens of Drones got to work immediately.

"Also, hatch 200 Overlords. Once they emerge, fully charge their energy reserves and spread them out every 5 kilometers around the base. Light up the entire surrounding area."

[Confirmed. Strategic deployment underway.]

Lin Fan nodded in satisfaction.

When exploring unknown territory, what mattered most?

Intel.

With a network of Overlords watching from above, he'd have full awareness of anything nearby. He'd never again be caught off guard.

Plus, with aerial recon, he could optimize the Zerg's hunting routes—pinpointing soul beasts with the exact traits he needed.

Once everything was arranged, Lin Fan entered the Hive's incubation chamber.

"Overmind, initiate Tier-3 Overmind Enhancement."

[Commencing enhancement. Please prepare.]

Dozens of tendrils extended and wrapped tightly around his body. The Creep beneath his feet flowed upward, sealing him inside a massive cocoon.

That familiar cool, tingling sensation spread across his entire body.

[Enhancement in progress...]

Green liquid surged through the organic threads, pumping into the cocoon.

Lin Fan's body felt alive—every cell brimming with euphoric energy. His brain was sharper than ever.

Roughly 30 minutes later, he opened his eyes and tore through the cocoon.

[Enhancement Complete. Current Physical Power Level: Equivalent to a 9,999-Year Soul Beast.]

He grinned.

The power leap was huge!

At this point, even without spirit rings, he could physically overwhelm a five-ring Soul King, and maybe even fight a six-ring Soul Emperor on even footing.

He took a deep breath and used his energy to materialize a new outfit before stepping out of the Hive.

Above the massive cavern, the exit tunnel had been opened.

Overlords were continuously hatching and flying out into the sky.

Lin Fan gazed upward, ambition blazing in his eyes.

"It's almost time. Star Dou Forest... get ready for me."
