Chapter 45: Kidnapped

Damion pretended not to see the Champion of Fire and walked straight ahead without turning. Noriko walked past him without even throwing a glance either.

However, what no one saw was the clash in their auras as they passed by, with Damion being on the losing end.

[Dragon’s Authority’s effects have been negated]

Damion’s frown deepened. Why Noriko had done that was pretty obvious to him.

"Proving your superiority huh?" he whispered with a barely suppressed rage. "Just you wait... I’ll make you suffer," Damion declared, his eyes flashing with an ominous purple glow.

His list was only growing. Kaiden, Aspasia, Jordan, Emily, Melruen... etc. they were all students who had exited their long secluded training.

Kaiden was the student with the Lightning Ability he had met in the forest outside the school. He was number one on the list because he had done the most damage to him.

Aspasia was the heir to the Serpent God, and she had a Poison Ability. She was on his list because he had a Quest that required him to take her life, and also because she had tried to kill him multiple times.

Aspasia had poisoned him countless times in just a few days, but the Jaws of Ophidia were her bane, totally negating her poison and rendering them useless.

Jordan was another student he had met in the cafeteria a few days ago. He didn’t seem like one to cause trouble, but with his Cloning Ability, he had stolen Damion’s breakfast. Though petty, he had been added to the list nonetheless. Damion was going to teach him not to steal other people’s food.

Emily was yet another strong student who had a very strong Earth Ability, so much so that she could cause a mini earthquake if she wished.

Emily had played pranks on Damion multiple times, making him trip and fall over embarrassingly, just to get him annoyed and fight her, but Damion had always ignored her because she was too strong for him to handle, yet.

And last but definitely not least, Melruen. The brown haired average-looking guy was an oddball. Damion hadn’t added him to the list because he had done something wrong to him, he had only done so because he was curious about his Ability.

Damion had seen him stop a boulder thrown at him with a finger, and he had seen him toss it back at the student twice as fast with little effort.

Damion first thought it was Super Strength, but Super Strength didn’t make one fast, did it?

Melruen could conveniently keep up with a speedster, both in a straight line sprint or a path with several obstacles, twists and turns.

He had done lots of other things like catching a bolt of energy out of its path, and tearing a hole in a Middle Rank armor with his fists.

These shocking feats were done right in front of Damion’s eyes. He was neither told, nor did he hear it from a random conversation. This made him curious about Melruen, and he sincerely hoped to learn more about him.

Damion followed the map blinking in his view silently. His third Daily Quest was to get to the spot marked with a red X on the map, and take whatever was there.

He didn’t know what it was, but he was sure it wasn’t going to be easy to get whatever it was.

Time proved him right as he found himself walking towards the second-year quarters, the area where the X was located.

"F**k!" Damion cursed loudly. "Of all places, it just had to be here."

He had barely finished groaning and complaining when someone suddenly appeared before him, their face eerily close to his.

"I haven’t seen this face before," the female said, sizing him up briefly with furrowed brows and slurping on her lollipop. "A Shapeshifting Ability? If not, go back to where you came from."

Damion stood motionless, thinking of what to say or do. The sudden appearance of the female was unexpected, and he didn’t have anything in mind to immediately say. Fortunately, he didn’t need to say or do anything.

"If that’s you Orion, you better stop wasting my time and speak," she said.

Damion suddenly felt the Blessing of Knowledge gift him some information, and a smile spread across his face.

"Yes, Vanessa, it’s me. Now stop wasting my time too and get out of the way."

Vanessa pulled her Lolly out and scoffed. "Arrogant as always," she said and turned around. "Boss wants to see you. He says he’s got a gift for you."

And with that, she vanished, using her Teleportation Ability.

Damion sighed, the smile on his face widening. "I’m guessing that’s like a clue given to me to make the Quest a bit simpler, Right?" He muttered.

The Blessing of Knowledge had told him just a sentence, one long sentence.

.Vanessa has come to deliver a message from their boss to Orion who is on a mission to the first-year’s quarter of the academy.

That was all. It was now left to Damion to deduce why the Blessing of Knowledge had told him that, who Orion and Vanessa were, and what he was to make of the information.

Luckily, he learned from it that he was speaking to Vanessa, and if she was talking to him as if she knew who he was and didn’t at the same time, then Orion, who she thought he was, had a Shapeshifting Ability.

If the Blessing of Knowledge had given him that information immediately Vanessa appeared, he would have gotten confused from the first question and made a blunder, but its timely intervention, plus his wisdom, had made for a safe pass into the second-year quarters.

The smile on Damion’s face slowly receded, and a serious expression replaced it. "Should I go to this boss first, or head over to the marked spot?" He pondered.

Damion raised his head up and directed his gaze ahead where he could see a block of buildings. He tilted his head in confusion, wondering where to head next.

In the next moment though, a voice sounded in his head, and he shrugged his shoulders, moving in a direction.

The voice that spoke into his head told him where to meet their supposed boss, and he followed instantly to avoid suspicion.

’Telepathy,’ Damion thought. ’I just hope they can’t read minds.’

He followed a path, passing by the buildings he had seen and entering another not too far away.

He climbed up a winding set of stairs that led to a well ventilated room, and as soon as he entered, he froze, his eyes landing on a familiar figure.

"Voilá!" A student standing behind exclaimed loudly with a wide grin, while gesturing wildly in accordance with his exclamation.

Suddenly the student stopped.

"Orion? You even transformed into him, very good, very good. Now this bitch won’t be able to ignore my orders with her lover’s lookalike in her presence!" the student laughed, a perverted smile on his face.

All this was said while Damion still had his eyes on the brutally beaten and badly injured female on the floor. It seemed like the boss had mistaken Damion for Orion too, making him think Damion wasn’t actually Damion.

Damion was so shocked by what he was seeing, that he was momentarily stunned into silence, and when he eventually recovered, the first thing he uttered was the kneeling female’s name.

"Matilda?"
