Chapter 53: Shadow vs Poison

Damion touched the window before him, and in one swift motion, he slashed at it with his Tang Dao, splitting it into two and letting the lower half fall.

The noise alerted the occupant of the room, but Damion wasn’t fazed, that was his aim anyway.

He didn’t wish to fight in the dark, acting like a mysterious vigilante. If he wanted to forge his own path, as the system put it, he would need to place himself in countless situations where he was forced to go all out and fight properly against his opponents, learning at the same time, rather than simply overwhelming them and relying on the environment to his advantage.

He needed to balance risking his life with learning, not using desperate moves or moving around like a psycho.

How he was going to do it wasn’t known yet, but he was sure he would find a way. Though he had lost his previous Martial Arts skills, he still had muscle memory of most moves. If Damion could tap into those practiced moves, he could create his from that, and if he was lucky, get enlightened.

The fact that all Martial Arts took years to create and develop weighed down on his mind, but he was willing to go that far and invest that much to gain strength.

Aspasia laid on her bed, unmoving. She didn’t react to the sound of Damion walking into her room, or rather she did, not just in a way Damion expected her to.

"You must be that Agony guy everyone’s been talking about," Aspasia said, still laying down on her bed with her back facing Damion.

"That’s not me," Damion replied.

"...huh? What do you mean that’s not you?" She rolled on her bed to face Damion, and her robes opened slightly, revealing too much skin.

However, Damion’s attention wasn’t on her body, but was focused on her face.

"A certain student named Damion showed surprising resistance to my Poison Fog, or should I say... Immunity," Aspasia said. "The Poison was strong enough to instantly kill a person, since I have been preparing it specially for him by channeling and compressing my strongest poison into a liquid form, but he didn’t seem affected by it nonetheless, not even a reaction when he was injected."

Aspasia grinned. "You also don’t appear to be affected by my Poison. Maybe because it’s not as strong as the other, but... no reaction, is still no reaction."

Damion remained silent, before he finally said, "All that explanation, but no proof."

Aspasia clicked her tongue. "We’ll find out when I’m done with you!"

Damion raised his weapon, expecting Aspasia to charge at him to attack, and though she did charge at him, why had she taken off her robes?

’Why is she naked?!’ Damion’s eyes widened in shock as he exclaimed internally.

His gaze unwantedly traveled to ’those’ regions of Aspasia’s body, and the little guy in a certain part of his body began to twitch.

His gaze snapped back up, and as though responding to his thoughts, the green scales on Aspasia’s forearm, calves and torso began to spread.

They covered her chest, though not so much since Damion could still see a lot of flesh that made him react fiercely.

Her chest still jiggled around as she barrelled towards him. A few smaller scales covered the area between her legs, and her nails elongated into deadly-sharp, curved claws, and her teeth into sharp fangs.

Her eyes lit up with a green glow, and her hair extended backwards, turning into a long mass of dark green fog.

In no time she crossed the distance between them, and swung her claws out.

Damion stumbled backwards, but he managed to evade and avoid an injury.

’I can’t make any mistakes,’ he thought.

His grip in his O-Katana tightened, and a surge of black energy swept through it.

Blessing of Strength.

The ground cracked as Damion traveled forward at a blurring speed. His weapon came down like a guillotine, and Aspasia barely dodged out of the way of a cleaving strike.

The force of the attack plunged the sword into the ground, but Damion immediately pulled it out, raising his weapon again.

The Shadows around the O-Katana spiralled docilely, but they were anything but that.

"Good thing the skill is somewhat similar," Damion voiced out with a smirk.

’The hammer seems to have been melted down and reforged,’ Damion inferred from the Blessing of Knowledge. ’And because of that, it’s not as strong as before due to it losing some of its Essence.’

Meanwhile, Aspasia stared at the ground, shell-shocked. Her room wasn’t like the usual rooms in other dorms. It was reinforced with strong metals, just like every other student who had reached top 10 in a contest held a few months back.

Damion didn’t know of this, but Aspasia did, and her guard was raised higher.

"You’re strong," Aspasia commented.

"No time for chit chat!" Damion dashed across the room, his O-Katana trailing behind him before he came to a sharp stop.

Using his momentum, he took a long step forward, crouched, and swept his O-Katana at a low altitude.

Aspasia jumped, but Damion’s sudden use of Shadow Pulse sent her flailing through the air backwards.

She twisted her body and landed on all fours like a beast. She bared her fangs, a wild grin on her face.

"You’re the only one I know with that weird Ability," she said and ran towards him. "What excuse do you have now?"

"You still have no proof," Damion replied and clashed with her claws.

He took a step back. Their strength was almost even, almost.

Aspasia grinned, staring straight into Damion’s purple eyes.

"You look good you know?" She suddenly said seductively. "Why not just let us stop this charade and have some fun."

Without warning, Damion moved his O-Katana, and the blade slipped off Aspasia’s claws. She fell forward, a sly smile spreading across her face, thinking she had outwitted Damion using seduction.

However, the anger blazing in his eyes told a different story, and with shocking velocity, a powerful punch to her abdomen rocketed her backwards, sending her crashing through a wall and leaving her to vomit blood.

"I have a Drakaina," Damion whispered, but somehow, his words traveled towards Aspasia as more blood poured out of her orifices, and her transformation ended.
