Chapter 73: Trapped

Damion looked around, wondering what had happened to him. He noticed Nyx staring at him from the side, and he asked the obvious.

"What happened? Where are we?"

"Oh, you’re back," Nyx exclaimed, staring deeply into Damion’s eyes to be sure he was right.

"What happened, where are we?" Damion asked again.

"That’s the problem," Nyx replied as the flames around him died down. "I don’t know,"

"One second we were standing at the summit, and the next, an illusion was cast —which you fell into and I had to burn your arm to pull you out of— and then we were teleported here by a hidden Teleportation Crystal."

Damion’s attention shifted to his healing arm, and he cursed quietly, before he focused on the surroundings, noticing the walls glowing with what seemed like an orange light.

When he looked closer at the wall, the light’s color changed, turning an incandescent red, almost white.

"The walls are glowing," Damion muttered.

Nyx moved closer to the wall, inspecting the weird phenomenon with a deep scrutinizing gaze. He could feel an unusual amount of energy building up in it, so he made sure not to move any closer or touch it.

The closer he got to the wall, the redder and hotter it became.

"Highly saturated Fire attributed Mana Rock," Nyx said. "Anything is capable of agitating this Mana Rock right now, so try as much as possible not to make contact with it."

Damion nodded his head. "What would happen if I did?"

Nyx moved backwards. "You probably wouldn’t have a body to be buried when it explodes."

Damion sucked in a cold breath upon hearing that. The fact that he was surrounded from all sides, like he was in a sphere of some sort, only made for a scarier thought.

He came searching for the Wild Pink Rose, but found danger instead. However, Nyx’s next words stunned him.

"At least we found the Wild Pink Rose," he said.

"Huh? Where?" Damion asked, glancing at the surroundings but finding nothing.

"Up." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Damion looked up.

Far above him, he caught a glimpse of glowing Pink Rose-like flowers growing from the ceiling and illuminating the nearby areas. Their beauty was captivating, mesmerizing even, and he almost fell into a trance by merely staring at them.

"I think I understand what happened now," Nyx commented suddenly, drawing Damion’s attention away from the Roses.

"What’s that?"

"Reaching the summit of the mountain to find the Wild Pink Rose was the goal, but we seemed to have underestimated our target, thinking it was going to be an easy task to grab some flowers and leave. But, what we didn’t know was that the Wild Pink Roses... were Wild."

Damion blinked in confusion, the cogs in his mind spinning as he tried to wrap his head around what Nyx just spouted.

Seeing his confusion, Nyx explained. "What I’m trying to say is, the Wild Pink Rose has some illusionary type Ability, perhaps a fog of some sort, so we walked into a trap and got teleported here,"

"Now all we have to do is to find our way out."

"I see?" Damion mumbled. "How did that even happen? It means we must have been put under the illusion long before meeting the Wolf."

"I doubt."

"So how do we leave?" Damion asked.

"Am I your thinking machine or what?!" Nyx hollered.

"Well, you seem to be deducing everything," Damion said mockingly, standing up to his feet. His arm was healed up, and in exchange, his Mana had dropped considerably. However, it appeared to be replenishing faster in the Mana filled environment.

"I feel like my skills would be more potent if used here," Damion whispered. "But I clearly can’t do that."

Damion looked around, searching for an opening or crack in the wall, but he found none. The place was sealed tightly, with no air entering even.

"You said we were teleported here right?" Damion asked, to which Nyx nodded.

Damion stroked his chin, falling into deep thoughts. ’If I do that, it’s possible for me to use Shadow Walk to leave,’ He thought, deducing an escape method. ’But how would Nyx leave?’

’I can leave anytime I want, as long as you’re not here to avoid endangering you.’

’Urghh! PRIVACY PLEASE!!!’ Damion yelled.

"Do what you have to do and get out, I’ll come soon after."

Damion immediately sat on the floor, assuming the Lotus Position. This was his way of reaching peak focus in a short time, and when he achieved that state, Dragon’s Authority unfolded, stretched thinly in all directions and forming a dome 35 meters in diameter.

His senses spread through Dragon’s Authority, reaching its very end. He could ’see’ what was there, but it wasn’t what he wanted.

’I need to move closer to the wall,’ he thought. No sooner had he thought this when his body moved, shifting to his desired direction smoothly.

’Again,’ he exclaimed internally. ’This weird use of Telekinesis with Dragon’s Authority happened again...’

Realizing he was deviating, he realigned his thoughts. ’Focus, I’ll think about that later.’

Since he had already moved, then all he needed to do was find an opening, yet, there was none.

’I need to move closer,’ he thought again. But unfortunately, there was no reaction from Dragon’s Authority and he had to manually move. But, he found out that he was already too close to the wall, he had to be extra careful.

He entered the meditative state again after finding a good spot. There was positive result from his movement, but he still had to move closer.

Damion repeated this action numerous times in the next few minutes, until he found the perfect spot... or maybe not so perfect.

’Closer.’

Damion shifted in his meditative state, getting dangerously close to the wall. The heat was palpable already. Sweat coated his body like another layer of skin, rolling down in thick droplets.

There was a sense of foreboding filling his mind, but he pushed the disturbing thoughts aside and concentrated.

He inched closer to the wall, slowly but surely getting what he wanted, and when he was just about to reach it... his body touched the wall, and Shadow Walk took him away.
