Chapter 6: The last dragon

Liam mumbled to himself, "I guess this much should do," as he stared at the items he had hijacked in his system inventory. When he woke up, the first thing he did was stock up on supplies, unsure if they would disappear at any moment.

"All stats experienced a +10 increase due to the first evolution stage: Hatchling!"

Liam's eyes stared at the information in shock. "Oh my God!" he exclaimed, his mind reeling with the implications. "I-I'm a dragon?!" he thought, disbelieving, as he saw all his locked skills unlocked and new ones added.

Liam's mind reeled as the implications sank in. If he truly had the blood of a dragon in his veins, then wouldn't that mean his parents weren't his real parents? The thought sent a pang of uncertainty through his chest.

"M-maybe Mum had dragon blood in her veins too and didn't know it," Liam whispered, trying to console himself. He shook his head, attempting to push the doubts aside. "No need to think about it like that."

Liam pushed aside the nagging thoughts about his mother and focused on the present. He gazed towards the open gate, a fierce grin spreading across his face. "How about I show those Goblins whose bait now?" he declared, clenching his fist.

[Leaving the hidden rewards room!]

As he stepped past the gate, it creaked shut behind him. The wall he had entered through began to turn, sealing the secret room. Liam swiftly passed through the rotating wall, ready to face the two Goblins waiting for him.

One of the Goblins was on the brink of death, its body covered in deep wounds, its labored breathing a stark contrast to its usual ferocity. It was clear that it wouldn't last much longer.

The other Goblin, however, stared at Liam with an unsettling grin, its eyes gleaming with malevolence. It gripped its mace with ferocity, eager to strike.

"You don't even care if your friend here dies... That's fucked up," Liam said, his voice laced with disdain as he walked towards the mortally wounded Goblin. The Goblin, despite its imminent demise, still struggled to attack Liam, its eyes burning with a fierce hatred.

"I'll put you out of your misery," Liam said, his voice devoid of emotion as he swiftly sliced through the Goblin's neck. The Goblin's head fell to the ground, its body slumping lifelessly.

[You have killed a Lvl 25, D-rank Goblin champion!]

[Stats are increasing!]

The other Goblin let out a blood-curdling scream, "Kii!" as it stared in shock at Liam. Initially, it had sensed a change in Liam's aura, but it had dismissed it. Now, however, it couldn't even follow Liam's movements. Liam's stats, now boosted to [E+ rank], were alarmingly close to the Goblin's [D-rank] abilities, making him a formidable opponent.

The Goblin, sensing that Liam was a threat to its already precarious existence, let out a blood-curdling scream. The sound waves from its cry rippled through the air, threatening to shatter the surrounding stones.

-Ding! [Do you wish to copy skill [Goblin's Cry] (C)?]

A sly smile spread across Liam's face as he gazed at the notification. He had never thought he'd get the chance to make us of his overpowered skill [Absolute replication].

"No," Liam replied, gripping his dagger tightly. He chose to decline the skill, opting instead to wait for the Goblin's backup to arrive. With a fierce glint in his eye, Liam prepared to unleash his onslaught.

Slowly but surely, an army of Goblins emerged, their numbers swelling to over fifty. Among them were three additional Goblin champions, their menacing auras radiating an air of superiority. It seemed that the dungeon had unleashed its entire arsenal to annihilate Liam.

"Ready?" Liam asked, his grin gleaming with anticipation as he locked eyes with the Goblin that had summoned the horde.

"Krerii!" the Goblin retorted, its smile twisted with malevolence, unapologetic about summoning the entire dungeon to take down a single human.

As the lower-ranking Goblins charged towards Liam, their shrill cackles and battle cries filled the air. Liam, his dagger at the ready, sprinted towards the horde with a fierce grin.

The first Goblin to reach him swung its crude spear wildly, but Liam dodged the attack with ease. With a swift stroke, he sliced through the Goblin's neck, sending its head tumbling to the ground.

The next Goblin, undeterred by its comrade's demise, lunged at Liam with a rusty sword. Liam parried the attack, using the Goblin's momentum against it. He sent the Goblin crashing to the ground, where it lay motionless.

The other Goblins, however, refused to back down. They swarmed Liam, their sheer numbers threatening to overwhelm him. Liam danced between the Goblins, his dagger flashing in the dim light. He struck down Goblin after Goblin, his movements a blur of steel and death.

Despite their valiant efforts, the Goblins began to fall, their bodies piling up around Liam. The air grew thick with the stench of blood and death, and the sound of clashing steel echoed off the walls.

As the last of the lower-ranking Goblins fell, Liam stood panting, his chest heaving with exertion. His dagger, slick with the blood of his enemies, gleamed in the dim light.

The three Goblin champions and their leader watched the carnage with growing unease. They had never seen a human dispatch their kin with such ease and speed.

The three Goblin champions, their massive bodies towering over Liam, charged towards him with a deafening roar. Each champion stood at least three times Liam's height, their bodies a mass of thick, scaly skin and bulging muscles.

Despite their intimidating size, the champions moved with a slow, lumbering gait, their massive clubs and greataxes swinging in wide arcs. Liam dodged and weaved between the champions' attacks, his dagger flashing in the dim light as he struck at their exposed legs and arms.

The first champion, its massive greataxe swinging wildly, stumbled forward with a deafening roar. Liam dodged the axe's crushing blow, striking upwards at the champion's exposed neck. However, the champion's thick hide and layers of scaly skin made it difficult for Liam to land a decisive blow.

The second champion, its club swinging in massive arcs, lumbered forward with a slow, deliberate gait. Liam dodged the club's crushing blows, striking at the champion's legs and arms with swift, precise strikes.

The third champion, its massive body towering over the others, charged forward with a deafening roar. Liam dodged the champion's attacks, striking upwards at its exposed neck and shoulders. However, the champion's sheer size and strength made it difficult for Liam to land a solid hit.

As the battle raged on, Liam found himself struggling to keep up with the champions' relentless assault. However, he refused to back down, using his speed and agility to dodge the champions' attacks and strike back with swift, precise strikes.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the first champion stumbled and fell, its massive body crashing to the ground. The second champion followed soon after, its club slipping from its grasp as it collapsed to the ground.

The third champion, its massive body towering over Liam, refused to fall. It charged forward with a deafening roar, its massive fists swinging wildly. Liam dodged the champion's attacks, striking upwards at its exposed neck and shoulders with swift, precise strikes.

Finally, with a crushing blow, Liam sent the third champion crashing to the ground. The air was thick with the stench of blood and death, and the sound of clashing steel echoed off the walls.

Liam stood panting, his chest heaving with exertion. His dagger, slick with the blood of his enemies, gleamed in the dim light. The Goblin leader, its eyes blazing with fury, charged towards Liam, its massive club swinging in wide arcs.
