Dragon King: Throne of Demons and Gods-Chapter 96: Hybrid’s Mind
Chapter 96: Hybrid’s Mind
The mountain burned blue.
Waves of azure fire crawled up its blackened slopes, filling up the sky.
An army of cyclops ran wild. One-eyed giants, each over three meters tall, running like beasts through the scorched terrain, their massive clubs smashing rocks, walls, and each other in a frenzy of confusion.
Then it came.
A wave of blue fire rolled over them like a tidal wave. Roaring, spiraling flame that devoured everything in its path.
And above it all, standing tall on the peak, Bel landed.
In his hybrid form, his tail curling, his eyes glowing. He didn’t move, watching the burning cemetery beneath, then forward.
A tremor.
Something huge was walking through the flames in the distance.
A massive Cyclops, with four arms thick like towers. It moved with heavy steps, each shaking the stone.
Bigger than the others, but slower.
An easy target.
Bel narrowed his eyes.
He took a deep breath. The air shifted.
The air around him dropped in temperature. Moisture in the sky froze. Crystals formed in the wind.
Frost gathered near his lips. His breath turned to fog. Everything seemed frozen in time.
Then... a howl.
Bel opened his jaw. From deep in his lungs, a concentrated beam of white-blue energy erupted.
The frost breath roared across the battlefield, wide and growing.
The breath hit the giant point blank in the chest, engulfing him in a cyclone of freezing wind and ice.
The explosion cracked across the mountain, coating the monster in thick shards of frost.
But then...
BOOM!
The giant started running.
"What?!" Bel’s eyes widened.
The massive Cyclops, still half-frozen, charged. Its heavy arms pulled back, its knees bending.
It jumped and landed on the peak, smashing it with a thunderous crash. The entire summit collapsed.
Then, a flash.
Bel appeared in the air, right above the monster.
[Meteor Smash]
He dropped like a bolt.
Lightning surrounded his fist as he slammed it straight into the top of the Cyclops’ skull.
[Meteor Smash: A focused hit charged with overwhelming force. Amplifies physical power by 400% for a single strike. Costs high stamina.]
The Cyclops’ skull caved in, driven deep into its own shoulders.
BOOOOOM!
The impact sent out a massive shockwave. Ice from the previous breath surged forward, creeping along the beast’s body. It froze everything in its path, locking the limbs in place.
Bel blinked again, then reappeared in front of the Cyclops’ chest.
BOOM!
Another [Meteor Smash]. Right into the core. Cracks exploded across the frozen chest.
Then, he opened his hand, and a shockwave. Crossed the ice.
The entire frozen body fissured, groaning.
Then...
CRAAAAASH!
It shattered.
Giant chunks of ice rained down the side of the mountain. Snow and fire mixed, painting the landscape in blue and white.

Bel exhaled.
The wind passed over his shoulder as he let go of his hybrid form. His body began to shift.
Scales retracted. Muscles softened. The tail faded into his spine.
And then he stood, normal once more.
His clothes had been completely shredded, a result of transforming into his full drake form
His hair had grown longer, a messy cascade of silver-black that hung behind his ears.
He was taller than before, his body slightly more muscular, shoulders wider.
His skin looked smoother, almost polished like marble.
He rubbed his forehead.
"Alright... pause."
His head hurt.
But it wasn’t pain.
It was heat. A burn inside his head. Not from a wound, but his brain.
Mental fatigue. A burning behind his eyes that no core or potion could fix.
He rubbed his temples, frowning.
"How long has it been?"
He couldn’t tell.
How many times had he gone out, seen the sun, stepped into a dungeon, come back out to darkness?
Had it been days? Weeks?
He wasn’t even sure what region he was in anymore.
Somewhere far from the capital, no doubt. But was he even close to the kingdom’s border?
What he did know, was that the dungeons were easier now.
He could burn through enemies without resting. His mana pool was deep, stable. His stamina regenerated fast.
His injuries? He healed before the pain could even register.
He clenched his fists.
Yes. His regeneration was something else now.
His only issue?
"No elements."
Everything since his evolution had been physical.
HP, stamina, toughness, strength, even his agility skyrocketed.
But elements? Nothing new. No sixth element.
He started wondering.
"Did I evolve too soon after all?"
His mind flashed back to the obsidian box. To the key that promised a trial made only for him.
He could try it now.
Stamina? Not a problem.
Health? More than enough.
He’d grown stronger than ever.
He thought about it seriously.
Then shook his head.
"No. Not yet. After the next evolution."
He didn’t know how many levels he needed, but it was close. He could feel it.
"But for now..."
He summoned the system interface.

He closed the shop with a snap, sparks flicking from his fingertips as he turned.
"Go, go, go," he muttered, practically jogging out of the frozen dungeon.
The wind outside hit his face. Bright sunlight pierced through the forest canopy.
Without wasting a second, he reached for his inventory.
"Alright... Let’s open the next one."
His hand hovered over the Void Gate Key.
Then... something. A prickling sensation down the back of his neck.
He stopped. Slowly, his head turned.
A few feet away, someone stood.
Elysia.
She was still as stone, a bag of neatly folded clothes held in one hand. Her expression was locked between confusion and horror.
Bel blinked.
There was a long silence. Neither of them moved.
Then... her eyes drifted lower, and lower.
And without a word, she fainted.
