Chapter 220: They Are Missing

Celine silently listened as Tristan told her everything.

"...and when I was nine she used to take me out with her after school, I’d always stare at this barbeque stall and each time, she wouldn’t fail to get me some. She was kind, and beautiful, the sweetest woman there ever was, and more than anything, she adored me, Eve and... Dad so much. That’s why I don’t understand why... why he would do that to her!"

Celine placed her hand on his comfortingly, and he grabbed her small palm in his own.

"She didn’t say anything because she knew acknowledging it would break everything, and she quietly endured even when she knew he was seeing someone else, but he broke her completely when he... He sent her those divorce papers along with an invitation to his upcoming wedding, she couldn’t take it anymore so she..."

Tristan stopped himself from completing his sentence as he recalled that horrifying time he had gone into the room only to see his mother hanging down from the ceiling, her feet dangling lifelessly, her usually bright green eyes were blank and empty and her face was contorted in death.

He had been more than horrified, that image had continued to haunt his nightmares for a long time.

Celine held onto his hand tighter, she felt her heart ache hearing the sort of painful childhood he’d been through.

Ever since then Tristan steeled his heart to everything, he had lost the only person who was incredibly important to him, Tristan had deeply blamed his father ever since then, he hated the man for being the reason he lost his beloved mother, he had grown to detest the sight of his father Aldrich Blakewood.

And as hypocritical as the man could be, he claimed to have been consumed by guilt, so much guilt he’d taken his own life a night before his intended wedding.

Tristan had never cared less for the man’s supposed guilt induced suicide, the man was selfish enough not just pushing his mother to her death, but making them orphans along the way by killing himself as well. Not once had Tristan shed a tear for him, and not once would it ever happen.

"Tristan, you..." Her chest tightened with sympathy for all he’d been through, and she opened her mouth to soothe him once more, but a knock at the door cut her off.

Celine swung her head up before softly calling, "Come in."

Genevieve who looked frantic pushed the door open, "Brother, Celine, the children..." She said in a panicked tone.

Celine quickly got out of her seat, and Tristan who had been initially downcast showed a sharp look in his eyes. The panic in Eve’s face clearly indicated that something had happened.

"What happened to my children?" Tristan asked sharply.

"What’s wrong Eve?"

"The... The children are... missing."

"What?" Celine felt her heart plunge in fear, panic, and confusion, "How could they go missing? Do you even know what you’re talking about Eve? They are just outside in the memorial garden with grandfather." Celine didn’t want to believe it at first, she had paid respects to Tristan’s parents at the memorial garden and had left the kids with their great-grandfather.

Tristan was quick to get out of his seat, with a frown he walked past Eve heading out of the room to go check the garden and confirm himself.

But Celine was still shocked rooted to the spot hoping Eve would say something that would prove she was just mistaken.

"Grandfather was with them, there are a lot of guards at every corner of the estate and it’s considered to be very secure, according to the guards, they’d suddenly heard the scream of a child... grandfather had heard it too and that was when he realized Leah was no longer with them, Leo ran off as well and by the time the guards or grandfather got there, both Leo and Leah were... Gone!"

That confirmation made Celine’s heart drop, dread flooding her chest. Her knees buckled and she stumbled, but she caught herself a heartbeat later and bolted from the room.

"Get all the guards stationed all around the estate, they should do an extensive search and none of them should stop until they’ve found my great-grandchildren do you all understand?!" The Blakewood patriarch bellowed at the guards that had been summoned.

At the same time Tristan rushed in after searching the garden, the last thing he found was a small bunch of flowers that had likely been picked by Leah before she went missing, without wasting another second he pulled out his phone dialling numbers repeatedly.

Celine stood dumbstruck in the middle of it all as everyone rushed back and forth. Her children, her poor children, where could they be? How could they have suddenly gone missing?

She knew Leo was very responsible and wouldn’t wander around too much, while Leah was an incredibly curious one, she would like to explore everything she found, but she was certain that if she was with Leo he would want to do anything to protect and keep his sister safe.

But in the highly secure Blakewood family estate, how could her children suddenly go missing without a trace?

A man who seemed to be the head of the guards hurried into the mansion to report, "Old master! We have searched everywhere, there is still no trace of them."

The old man looked so enraged, he was visibly trembling, "What the hell are you talking about? How could they have left the estate without any of you knowing? They are just children, who could have suddenly come into the estate without your knowledge despite such tight security to take the children?! Are you all just a bunch of decorations or guards who know how to do their jobs?! You better find my great-grandchildren otherwise I won’t spare any of you... I won’t!"

"Grandfather, please calm down." Eve quickly came to his side to comfort him, scared that if he continued to display such level of anger, it would affect his health.

"My children..." Celine who had initially been dumbstruck suddenly muttered, her heart was pounding in fear and she was beginning to think the most terrible thoughts, "...I’m going to find them myself." She suddenly said determinedly before making to hurry out of the mansion, but Tristan was quick to grab hold of her,

"Celine, Celine, calm down, calm down..." She tried to struggle out of his grip but Tristan held her trying to keep her calm, he knew fully well that panicking at this moment would not be the best help, "Celine, it’s alright, we’ll find them, they probably wandered off outside, no one can come into the Blakewood estate just like that, nothing will happen to them, they’ll be fine." Once she’d said those reassuring words to herself, her mind finally eased a little, but panic still flickered in her eyes.

"Celine, trust me." Tristan insisted making sure she focused, looking into his eyes now. He watched her heavy, panicked breathing steady before he added softly, "I’ll find them."

She nodded softly, swallowing the lump of tears that rose up her throat.

"Damien." Eve called the guard, "Who came into or left the Blakewood estate today?" Eve asked after some thought. Nobody would be able to come into the estate, at least no one the guards were unfamiliar with, but if it was someone they all knew then...

The guard Damien thought for a while before he replied, "Matriarch left for an important issue hours ago."

"Yes, grandma had to go to the company for an emergency, the kids were still at the memorial tower then. But after that, who else came or left?" Eve asked.

"Apart from Master Tristan and Miss Roberts, no other family members have come to the mansion today except for..." As Damien was speaking he suddenly seemed to have remembered something, his eyes lit up as he quickly said, "Except for Master Ryan! Yes, Master Ryan came by earlier, but he only came in for some time and left immediately after."

Hearing that, Celine swung her head up to look at Tristan, her blue eyes widened in panic, something flashed in Tristan’s eyes as he heard that.

Everyone fell silent hearing that, they all had different thoughts running through their minds.

"Ryan? Why would Ryan come to the estate without actually coming inside?" Eve asked no one in particular her face looking bewildered.

Old master Blakewood looked so angry he could barely hold it back, "Ryan, that’s very good, so that useless grandson of mine has now stooped to cruel tricks like these?" The old man’s words carried deep anger.

There was no need to doubt it, after their conversation a few days ago, old master Blakewood already knew his grandson would resort to doing something evil.

’Tristan is this family’s successor, no one else, and after him his children and their children, and their children will carry the line forward.’ Old master Blakewood had rigidly announced to Ryan when he’d come to demand a higher position in Blakewood Groups.

’What about me grandpa?’

’You are not worthy!’

’No! I’ll burn it all to the ground if I can’t have it. To hell with this family, I’ll make you regret casting me aside! Mark my words I’ll ruin everything you find precious in this world, maybe then you’ll start to take me seriously.’

"What do you mean grandfather?" Eve who had been gone for a long time and knew nothing about the kind of man Ryan had become asked bewildered and unsure of the look in everyone’s eyes.

"That scum Ryan!" Tristan spat through gritted teeth, feeling rage fill his mind. He was certain Ryan was behind this, because not only had he sworn to never return to the estate, but he had sworn to not rest until he got revenge against Tristan.

"Do you all mean Ryan is behind this? But why would Ryan kidnap Tristan’s children?" Eve was still lost in this whole thing, so she couldn’t help but ask, however no one could give her an answer at the moment.

Celine clenched her fists tightly in rage, that damned Ryan, if he dared do anything to her children then she would...

At that moment, a phone suddenly rang filling the whole mansion hall with its sharp sound, everyone exchanged glances with each other.
