Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 63: Take Them Away
The child’s clueless remark left Natalia stunned for a second before she let out a bout of laughter.
Celine almost face palmed, she had been quite worried that Leo wouldn’t warm up to anyone by the time they returned here. Many called him an unfriendly child. And as for Leah, she was very sweet but the unfriendly cat she always carried made sure to keep people away from her.
"Baby, a godmother doesn’t mean two mothers. It just means another guardian." Celine explained patiently.
"A guardian is a parent." The little boy argued with a quiet but firm persistence.
"Or another person who looks after a child." Celine added already being accustomed to her son’s firmly opinionated nature. Leo fell quiet after that, his gaze on Natalia quietly contemplative as if quietly deciding if he should accept her or not.
Leah on the other hand snuck her tiny hand into Natalia’s. "Godmother, will we be staying with you from now on?"
Natalia watched the kids with stars in her eyes, the way the little princess had held her hand felt so warm it tickled an unknown spot in her heart.
"Of course little cutie, until your Mom’s place is fully renovated you’ll all live with me, isn’t that fun?"
Natalia was delighted at the girl’s enthusiastic nod.
"Celine, these kids are such angels. Am I supposed to envy this? I suddenly want little kids of my own, I really should start thinking about my love life..." Natalia rambled on and on while they drove to her place.
The rain had softened into a pattering drizzle by now. Celine’s eyes drifted out the windows, the skies looked dark and grey and the rain might become even heavier later on, but the familiar skies reminded Celine of the past and it all flashed past her eyes one after the other like scenes in a movie.
First the happy moments with her own mother, then the sadness and immense loss afterwards. And the misery when her father introduced the additions to their family, her rise in the movie industry and then her imminent fall, amidst all that...there was him.
Celine wiped it off even before his image could fully take root in her head.
When they got to Natalia’s home, Celine settled the kids in, leading them down to a nap before she sat in the living room to catch up with Natalia.
It had been a very short five years of her life, so many things had happened and a lot had changed, yet she still felt the same. But within the depths of her ocean blue eyes, there was a clear determination. A kind of unshakeable will that might have never been seen in the eyes of Celine five years ago.
Natalia found out about all the things Celine had done overseas over this span of time. Being in a foreign country had been quite hard at first, but she had adjusted real fine over time. She’d nurtured her pregnancy on her own and had her lovely twins without any complications.
The twins’ personalities were a bit eccentric, and they were exceptionally smart for their age but Celine loved her kids dearly, in fact whenever she thought back, she would feel extremely grateful for that moment she had backed out of the hospital and decided not to push through with the abortion.
If she had done that, she would have lost the bundles of joy in her life.
"So what are you planning to do now that you’ve returned?" Natalia asked curiously.
Celine smiled mysteriously, her eyes looking distant.
’I have some scores to settle, those grudges...even time can’t erase them.’ Though these thoughts rang quietly in Celine’s mind, she didn’t say them out loud to Natalia.
"Do you have something exciting planned?" Natalia asked expectantly, a thought suddenly ran through Natalia’s mind making her gasp in realization.
"Will you finally be telling Mr Grayson about the twins?"
Celine’s expression fell upon hearing the name Natalia just uttered. It looked like a forbidden topic had been touched on and her eyes seemed to suddenly lose their light.
Natalia read her friend’s expression and somewhat realized she hadn’t actually guessed right.
"You never planned on doing that did you?" Natalia asked, her tone softening now.
"I’ve raised my children well so far, I don’t need to involve someone else in their life." The radiance with which Celine had told Natalia stories about their lives abroad dimmed a bit as she said this with a heavy seriousness in her voice.
"The twins are at an age where they know what a mother and a father is, haven’t they asked about their father yet?"
Natalia knew that children that age would see other kids their age and wonder why they were being raised by a mother alone when others had both a mother and a father.
This question made Celine frown as she replied, "They’ve never really asked before. Not even once, I used to think it was strange but I’m relieved at the same time. Maybe I’ve been good enough as a mother and a father to them. In any case, they don’t need someone who might not want them. I’m enough to give them love enough for both parents."
Celine was aware more than anyone else that someday the twins might ask about their father. But she was also aware that they loved her to no end and had never made her feel like she was doing anything wrong or wasn’t enough for them, perhaps that was what gave her the confidence that she really wouldn’t have to worry about telling them who their father was, and so far she had been performing the duties of a mother and a father and their lives have been beautiful.
"Does that mean you don’t plan on ever seeing Tristan Grayson again?" As Natalia asked this question, Celine suddenly paused her action of taking her glass of juice to her lips. A faint emotion flashed past her blue eyes, an emotion that had no name before she quickly recovered and took a sip. Natalia added,
"Neville is a huge city, and you and Mr Grayson can live in it and never see each other again but still, anything can happen. What if by chance he sees you again someday? What if he finds out that you had his kids years ago and decides to take custody of Leo and Leah?"
A distant look showed on Celine’s face before she smiled softly, one could see a hint of bitterness in the curve of her lips.
"I won’t have to worry about that Nat, even if he sees me, he won’t remember me. Besides, he should be married by now to that woman, what’s her name again...? Erica Williams." Celine could recall that woman she had spoken to once before. With their relationship...she should be his wife by now right?
"Actually...he isn’t married yet and if you know Neville history you would know that the Blakewood family rules states that the firstborn kids of each generation will automatically be heirs, which means your kids are the next generation heirs of the Blakewood empire. If Tristan Grayson himself doesn’t remember you, the minute the Blakewood family gets a whiff of their blood, they’re going to come for the twins Celine and you won’t be able to stop them from taking the kids away."
These words caused Celine’s heartbeat to halt and her face to slowly pale.
