Chapter 74: Paths Meant To Cross

"Make way, make way!!!"

By the time Celine exited the hotel, there was a crowd of media and people rushing outside.

"Oh my God, that is the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen!" Someone squealed among the crowd.

"I can’t believe it, I just witnessed the engagement between Erica Williams and Tristan Grayson!" Said another voice.

A single name made Celine’s footsteps pause. It felt like the night wind blowing against her skin suddenly got chillier.

Engagement?

When Celine turned, her view was that of the crowd. But far beyond that she saw a woman, her eyes shone so brightly one would think she had stars in them, she was waving happily to the crowd while some photographers at the front took pictures of a beautiful glistening diamond ring on her finger which she seemed to deliberately flash to their gaze.

That was her... Erica Williams.

Behind Erica, there was a shiny black limousine, within which she caught sight of a sharp familiar profile.

Her heart stopped, and for a single moment, Celine forgot to breathe.

Those eyes were cold and indifferent, looking ahead unbothered by the frenzy of the woman outside the car showing off her engagement ring to the photographers.

Engagement...so it seemed they were really going to be getting married.

Celine felt a small pang in her chest, she couldn’t identify why seeing this view caused her to feel strange emotions in her heart.

Erica’s smile was so radiant, she looked like the happiest woman alive in this moment. Celine’s gaze drifted to the man once more, so close yet so far away.

Some people, it seemed our paths were meant to cross after which it would become history and nothing more.

With an unknown bitterness in her heart, Celine walked away.

"Prince lover boy, room 2258. Go!" Leo whispered to his sister as they stepped out of the cab.

The cab driver could only look on at the little pair in astonishment before driving off wondering if it was really okay to believe their story and drop them off at the Paradise Hotels instead of the police station where their parents would be alerted.

It was just that...they sounded too convincing.

The twins split up as they entered the building, Leo had attached a little smart device on his mother and heard everything that was going on around her, they even heard someone being beaten and some man’s confession to her.

The goal was to find out if the man was their father or not.

Leah walked up to the front desk, looking so small below the counter, her dress made her look like a mini royalty.

"Hello, beautiful miss." She called, smiling sweetly her dimples showing.

"Hmm?" The receptionist looked bewildered as she heard a small voice but when she didn’t find anyone, her brows furrowed and her gaze travelled downwards. She was momentarily startled to see an adorable little girl smiling at her.

"Hey there little girl, are you lost?" As she asked this, the receptionist looked around to see if the girl’s parents would be anywhere nearby but the adults around either looked at a little girl in bewilderment and then looked away or seemed unbothered at all. "What are you doing here all by yourself?"

"My Mommy told me to come here." Leah said blinking her adorable eyes.

"Your mother is around here?" The receptionist asked looking around. "Where is your mother, I don’t see anyone around."

"She already went inside a while ago, but now she left to go somewhere." Leah paused, staring at the receptionist with starry eyes before saying, "Wow, I like your hair, it’s so shiny, and your skin is really beautiful too. Miss, are you a princess?" The little girl spoke with such child like innocence yet her words were sweet to the ears.

The receptionist was taken aback by such compliments but she couldn’t resist smiling widely as she touched her face in surprise. "What makes you think I’m a princess?"

"Because you look so pretty. Only princesses are that pretty. That means, you’ll find your handsome prince charming and he’ll take you away to a biiiig castle to live happily ever after." Leah spoke in a honey like voice.

The receptionist laughed.

Such a sweet child and she had such a sweet tongue too, saying things that made her mood improve. Children were the most honest creatures on earth, so the child surely found her as beautiful as a princess.

The receptionist being a single woman definitely wished the child’s words would come true sometime soon. Finding a handsome and rich man was akin to finding a prince charming right? And it was said that children’s wishes tend to come true, so the little girl’s words pleased her.

"Oh, you sweet little thing. You’re so adorable."

Leah smiled but then looked somewhat sad, tugging at the receptionist’s heart.

"What’s wrong?" She was worried about why the adorable little girl suddenly looked sad.

"Mommy told me to go wait for her in the room, but I don’t know the way to the room. She told me to go to room 2258, but I don’t know how to get there by myself?"

The receptionist felt angry on the kid’s behalf. What sort of parent leaves their kid all alone?

The receptionist had witnessed something like this before, a parent claiming to be so busy they leave their children at the entrance only to let them go inside on their own. Such a cute child left on her own.

The receptionist remembered the strange man who had booked the room and a while later, a beautiful woman had also arrived for that reservation. Looking at the child closely, the receptionist realized there was indeed a resemblance between that beautiful woman from earlier and the little girl, and the woman had indeed just left.

"Oh, so that was your mother. But she just left."

"Yes, mommy was in a hurry to go somewhere, she asked me to come to the beautiful lady behind the desk to lead me to the room." Leah said.

Really, some parents are too careless. The receptionist thought.

To leave such an adorable girl, but then the security at The Paradise Hotels was incredibly tight, and there were some parents who would leave their kids around the hotel unsupervised too, hardly any harm could come to a child as long as they were inside the building so the mother must have felt at ease because of that.

Without dwelling too much on it, the receptionist called someone to stand in her place and personally accompanied the smart little girl to the elevator. Looking at the child felt like looking at a walking, talking little doll, the receptionist couldn’t help but wish she could also have a child this cute. After bringing the child to room 2258 and unlocked the door, the little girl smiled up at her.

"Thank you miss beautiful princess. I’ll just wait inside for my Mommy to get back."

"Alright then, bye." The receptionist left after safely leaving the girl in the room.

Leah looked at a hidden spot down the hallway where she had seen her brother following.

"Leo," she called in a whisper waving him over and they both slipped into the suite.
