Saint Germain's eyes became sharp and his carefree expression became serious for a glimpse of a second, enough to bring shivers down through Uriel's spine. Then the winged man proceeded to channel a sizeable amount of flux energy to cast a skill much similar to Sam's Smite before Uriel could even react.

He closed his eyes out of instinct as he was overwhelmed by both the power and brightness of the skill cast by Saint Germain and heaved a sigh of relief after noticing he was still in one piece.

"What was that for!?" Uriel snarled.

"We overstayed our welcome, this place will soon be overrun by Merman. Guess I'll have to wrap up things. In short, the man who you know as Soulfire sent you here to meet me and he let me know in advance and asked if I could teach you the way of the soul. I agreed because I already took an interest in you, especially after you visited my mansion in Louisiana.

I heard you liked the pictures I took." He explained with a calm voice that somehow was able to stand out from the sound of the sea that was now divided in half.

Despite the poor illumination, Uriel was still able to see several corpses of creatures laying around in the seabed in between two tall walls of water and he didn't miss how the skill he cast didn't cause any damage to the sand, algae or even fish.

"Your mansion? So you're a witch?" Uriel remembered the connection between the psychic photography, the teriantrope figurines and the items that let him know the previous owner was an alchemist.

"No, I'm not. I do have many witch friends, but I'm actually what you would call an angel. Before you start with your questions, I'll tell you this. Angels aren't necessarily human, but humans can become angels."

"One second, I thought holy rank was the limit." Uriel stuttered.

"Don't be silly, we're not called angels because we're powerful. We are messengers of the gods. I'm surprised you didn't know this since you already met one of us. In fact, you met the exact same man that exiled me from America. Anyhow, I saw you killed my letieche, that wasn't nice of you."

"So that thing was yours? How can you control a cryptid?"

"The same way you control yours, I guess. It's technology, one I've been trying to replicate for centuries without much success," Saint Germain explained, then unfolded his wings and took flight only to turn towards Uriel with a smile."if we meet again, I'll tell you more about it. I think I said enough already. Good luck." freēwēbnovel.com

The moment Saint Germain said these words he disappeared from sight leaving Uriel by his lone self in a beach that would become infested with cryptids at any moment. He cursed under hbis breath as he activated Dash to make it back to the Moorish castle where they had set their camp, but was stunned in place when he realized there was no one there leaving him at a metaphorical crossroad.

Following the tracks of his friends wasn't difficult in the slightest since the ATV left deep scars in its wake, but he wondered if he would be able to catch it before being surrounded by enemies out in the open. Instead, he decided to spend the night on the fort while concealing his flux energy to the best of his ability in order to go unnoticed by the cryptids.

"It's not like they're too dangerous anyway, they're just beast rank cryptids," He said to himself when he felt their energy signature come closer. Just to make sure, he decided to also use the technique Saint Germain just taught him, only to realize his mistake. The merman weren't just beast rank cryptids, they somehow emitted the same signature a heavenly rank hunter would.

"what the hell is going on here?" He questioned himself, then had the answer he sought by the system that had been awfully quiet for a long time.

[System notice] Kill the Merman king, guardian of Atlantis.

Without missing a beat Uriel opened fire from behind the crumbling wall of what was left of the Moorish castle. The magnum rounds pierced easily through the scaly skin of the merman that awkwardly ventured inland as though they were just learning how to walk. They dropped to the ground laying on a pool of their own blood one second, then the next they would get up and continue walking faster.

"This isn't working." Uriel clicked his tongue without stopping the bullet rain on his enemies. His next step was to try and use the glasses in hopes of finding where their flux orbs were, but that didn't prove to be helpful as their flux energy was too dense to let him see through.

Left with no choice, Uriel grabbed the Red thread of fate and readied to fight in close combat as soon as the first merman entered the castle, though they didn't and instead formed rows in front of it and spat water projectiles from thick hard fish like lips with such force they took chunks of stone.

"Their aim is shit." Uriel laughed, but when he noticed the damage the creatures were causing on such an important historical landmark he decided to take things into his own hand and climbed off the Moorish castle to engage in close combat.

Upon engaging the first enemy, Uriel realized it was a mistake as they moved too fast to land a hit without Using Dash and by using it, he spent more energy in killing a single merman than he was able to regain with the dagger. Their numbers increased and they moved in an organized fashion, which was already bad enough, but things became even worse when a larger creature emerged from the sea.

"That must be their king." Uriel said as his eyes sparked briefly in a blue light before turning to run away following the tracks left behind by the ATV.
