Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 778: The black knight Part 3
"Very well, Uriel son of Sage..." It started echoing all the titles Uriel mentioned in the same order Uriel did before. Its voice was solemn and didn't seem annoyed in the slightest, if anything, it sounded thrilled that someone still remembered the knight's code hinting at Uriel that either knowing the code or failing to follow it were the conditions that matched the cryptid's taste for a feast.
Uriel then directed a glare that spoke volumes of the world of hurt coming towards the unrepenting Nika who was still trying to gather her breath after hearing to the title she thought Uriel gave himself.
In the time it took for the cryptid to mention all of Urel's titles, be them made up or not, Luna had already finished first aids on Alice and she left her on Nika's care before walking directly in front of the cryptid.
"I want to give you a word of warning." Luna said to the cryptid once he finished speaking.
"If you also want a duel with me you will have to wait your turn." The armor replied.
"No, this is not a threat but facts. When the moment comes and you realize you are going to lose, just yield. He will spare your life... probably." She said before retreating leaving the ancient cryptid in utter disbelief.
In all of its existence never had it experienced anything even close to the emotional low blow he received after someone who looked like a child who wasn't even at the heavenly rank looked down on it so blatantly. Luna's face showed no expression as always, but the pity displayed on her eyes caused a world of hurt for the cryptid who cheerished bravery and courage above all, especially its own.
"Emotional Damage!" Uriel laughed when the cryptid started roaring, but his amusement was short lived as the black armor soon charged at him with the speed and force of a freight train. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Needless to say, Uriel had yet to recover enough flux damage to activate Dash, but since the armor charged in a frontal assault it was easy to predict its movements and he simply ran in the sharpest angle compared to its trajectory.
Due to all the momentum it carried the armor was unable to change its trajectory on time allowing Uriel a brief respite, but contrary to him the armor wasn't tired and was able to charge back at him before he even gathered his composure.
What followed was Uriel running in circles with a bulky black armor screaming profanities at him for running away instead of fighting.
"Stop running and fight me like a man." The armor growled.
"Oh, I'm sorry, but when did I give you the impression I was a brave person? When I stabbed you in the back?" Uriel laughter irritated the armor. By then, some of the townsmen had gathered at what they deemed was a secure distance and watched as Uriel took laps around while making fun of the armor.
At first they were extremely afraid their lives where in danger, then they were worried about the hunters facing the cryptid, but eventually they started laughing at the scene and every time Uriel dodged the black armor people would make a fuss.
"Ole!" They shouted in unison when the black armor failed once more to bash at Uriel, each time more angry.
"You can't possibly blame them for thinking this is a bullfighting match when your armor has horns like that of a bull and the only think you do is to charge like a bull. You know, if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck..." Uriel laughed some more, but his words sparked something more than anger this time.
Realizing his strategy had failed, the armor gave up on his rampage and started channeling flux energy and although nothing had yet to happen, Uriel realized it couldn't be good when the cryptid's flux started moving directly towards one of the horses previously used by the bandits.
The noble animal's eyes turned black first, then breathed out a black smoke and finally was covered in a black luster armor and garments like in medieval times.
"This is perfectly time accurate!" Uriel gasped in excitement, forgetting for a second his life was on the line, but then he readied to counter the black knight's strategy with the Red thread of fate.
The crimson dagger crafted for him by Medusa was not only his strongest weapon, but it was also the most dynamic one he could have ever dreamed off. In a sense it resembled a kyoketsu shoge, a japanese double edged knife tied to a chain used in the old times to siege castles.
The only difference was its purely western style and that instead of a chain it used flux wiring and instead of a metal ring, it had a detachable hilt with a heavy pommel and it was precisely that what Uriel planned to use against the mounted knight.
By rapidly spinning the dagger in the air Uriel not only made up for its short range, but he also increased its speed to a point where dodging it would be as difficult as dodging an helicopter hasp. In his mind, things played in a very straightforward manner as the knight would charge in a front attack like usual and would end up entangled in the flux wiring.
Unfortunately to Uriel, the horse's movement speed far surpassed that of its raider and he also didn't need to dodge the blade.
The moment the horse neared the range of the circular motion of the Red thread of fate the knight jumped off of its mount and pounced on top of Uriel, slashing at him with his two handed sword without caring for the fate of the horse who had received a deep cut on the base of the neck.
It was less than an ideal situation since now the dagger was jabbed onto the horse leaving Uriel with no weapon to block the incoming slash, but after activating Dash Uriel recalled the crimson dagger and made it reappear on his hand to block the huge blade coming his way.
The moment both weapons made contact the vibrations in the air burst out like an explosion causing a sonic wave that shattered the windows on the nearby houses and Uriel received the full weight of the knight's slash with his small dagger.
Being made of orichalcum, the dagger would not break despite the immense force of the attack, but with his enhanced perception of time Uriel was able to perceive the insurmountable pressure weighing down on him due to the knight's attack.
'Of course I can't block that thing with a small knife.' Uriel inwardly scolded himself while pondering his alternatives. He would have likely used his revolver if not for long ranged weapons being prohibited during duels, except for throwing weapons such as axes that is. 'But its weight and reach can be a disadvantage on close range.' Uriel finally reached his answer and parried the sword.
The scraping of orichalcum against the shadowy sword caused purple sparks across the long blade while Uriel jumped to meet his assailant in hopes of finding the knight completely defenseless, but things weren't as they seemed.
By moving his arm back while leaving the sword in place, the knight gained enough leverage to adjust his sword and parry the dagger leaving Uriel completely flabbergasted as that movement was impossible with such a heavy weapon.
No amount of strength would allow someone to change the course of such a heavy weapon mid slash, especially since it carried the momentum of the knight using all his power and Uriel knew it.
"That's Spanish swordmanship, but spanish swords are meant to be much lighter. How did you do that?" Asked Uriel after jumping back.
"I was once known for taking over ten major cities for the king. But that was a long time ago, before he betrayed me and gave all the fiefs I earned with the power of my very arms to lowly scum on his court who never even set foot on the sacred grounds we fought so hard to protect.
He left me to rot and would not even send a doctor when I called for it and that is why..." The knight muttered to himself before channeling flux to seemingly raise the horse from the dead once more, but then remained silent as he mounted it and charged again in the exact same fashion he had done before.
Uriel thought the knight wanted to speak his story almost as though he wanted to let it be known that what he did had an excuse.
'Does he maybe want to clear his name or something?' Uriel pondered for a second and then he realized something. The armor was immensely more powerful than him and should have been able to defeat it in a second, but its movements were repetitive and easy to predict almost as if the armor wanted to throw the fight and then he took a close look at the sword and it hit him.
"I know its weakness! It's honor!"
