Chapter 971: Mythological auction Part 3

Despite the slow movement of the living armor, Uriel considered it was better for him to let himself be slapped as that was the best opportunity to avoid wasting time. It wasn’t an attack, just a challenge, but he knew that if he dodged it the dullahan would have just attacked.

"I accept your duel, I’ll meet you tomorrow at noon in front of the museum." Uriel said with an expression that oozed violence which the dullahan found adequate for an enemy. Needless to say, although the slap was hard enough to draw blood from the corner of his mouth, Uriel regenerated before he could actually feel any pain.

"I shall see you there, then." The dullahan turned on his heels and sat back in front of his crystal ball completely unaware that Uriel had no intention of meeting him anywhere and just said something to avoid an immediate fight.

"Whew!" Uriel let out a relived sigh then skilled the crystal ball until he found what he believed was Veritas axis mundi. It was small statue of a naked woman that could have been anyone if not for the inscription in front ’Veritas’. However, there were many such statues and the reason Uriel chose precisely that one was because Veritas was not just the goddess of truth, but the virgin white goddess of ’naked truth’. The statue was white and depicted a naked woman, but more importantly, it showcased the rough characteristics of the sabin tribes art which preceded the foundation of Rome.

Just like with the rest of the items Uriel bought it appeared in front of Uriel the moment he paid the price. The previous bid was quite high as the artifact had been on display for a couple centuries, but the currency offered previously was in denarius and matching the price with trites was actually pretty cheap to the point he had spent more trites the first time he bought furniture to renovate his HQ.

Unsure about whether it would work how he intended or not, Uriel stored the statue in his trait and received a confirmation message from Nika.

Nika: It worked! You should have seen their faces!

"Good." Uriel nodded to himself at the same time the goddess Veritas was transferred inside his trait.

From the goddess’ perspective it was as if she was there one moment and the next her surroundings had shifted which was not uncommon for divine beings, only they usually did it on purpose and on the rare occasion such a thing happened without their consent it was because they were summoned by a higher being.

"Lord Zeus, what is your command?" She asked kneeling and looking at the ground with respect to the almighty god of lightning. However, the god in question was nowhere to be seen and the one in front of her was none other that Water warlock who at that moment was about to take the first bite of a sandwich, though he couldn’t shut his mouth due to the shock.

"I think you got the wrong address lady," Water warlock looked around confirming he was still inside Uriel’s trait, then continued with a scolding tone. "you should also put some clothes on."

For someone to even suggest anything to a divine being like her would already be considered an offense, but to go as far as asking the goddess of truth to go against her nature and hide something was the last nail on the coffin to any living being.

"Yes, my lord, may I know your name?" Except an absurdly powerful being such as Water warlock that is.

"What brought you here?" Water warlock ignored her question and tilted his head.

"I don’t know myself." She shrugged.

"Are you perhaps, a friend of Uriel?" Water warlock’s eyes glinted in an oppressive shade of cyan causing the goddess to shiver in fear which prompted him to remember the good old days when a mortal stood his ground without quivering.

"I am no friend of his," She said coldly, but upon noticing his shift in demeanor she hurriedly continued. "but I would love to."

"Are you telling the truth?" Water warlock leaned forward.

"I am the goddess of truth, lying is against my very existence." The goddess replied and soon another god appeared just as confused as the previous one.

"Who dares..." An arrogant question that also served as a statement that was as short lived as the newcomer realized his circumstances. One by one, gods and goddesses started pouring in to the point Water warlock had to expand the already large hall of the museum.

Needless to say, Uriel thought that storing the artifacts that tethered the mystical beings to the physical realm would sever the bond, not that they would be transported inside his trait even though there was enough evidence in his studies to suggest otherwise. He knew that an axis mundi was an object of worship that manifested the divine presence of a god, but that was the case only because the artifact represented said being. The artifact shape and size could vary from god to god, but the meaning would always be the same: ’this object and the god are one’.

At first Water warlock was shocked by the appearance of a goddess and thought it wouldn’t be bad to have some company, though when they started coming in numbers he changed his mind. The lack of space didn’t suppose a problem since Water warlock could expand Uriel’s domain at will since they were now technically a single being, but the problem of what to do with them remained. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

With nothing else to do, Water warlock waited until the last one showed up and then politely asked them to form a line.

"The tour is about to start now, I will explain things as we move. Please make a note of your questions as I will be answering them at the end of the tour. And we’re walking." Water warlock, the ancient being of untold power. A being that surpassed even the understanding of the gods that considered themselves to be at the top of the food chain, a being so powerful just being in its presence caused them to feel weak on the legs then started a tour on the museum while recounting the stories related to each artifact.

It was both informative and emotional as Water warlock introduced anecdotes and his own thoughts here and there. But for as much data as they all received, the meaning of the tour, the reason of them being there and the identity of their host remained a mystery to the gods who had been essentially kidnapped by Uriel.

"Don’t lag behind please, we’re walking...," Water warlock said whenever one of the gods attempted to break the line. He acted casually, though just him speaking made them feel small and powerless. They also felt as if they were being observed from all seven directions, a sensation only divine beings could experience but none of them ever had. "don’t touch the artifacts, please." Even the last word that was commonly used to represent good manners felt like a threat not just to their existence, but to all logic itself.

The moment the gods stopped appearing inside his trait was also the moment Uriel was captured. Technically, he did nothing wrong as he just bought all the items he wanted. As long as he had the money, which he had, he should have had the right to bid or buy anything he liked. However, the envoys that had been sent there and had spent centuries of their lives just sitting in front of a crystal ball to get the best price they could on the items their gods wanted, only to see them taken and by a mortal no less, couldn’t deal with the frustration and they acted up.

"Kill him, now! He will try to escape!" A dreamwalker which was among the incorporeal cryptids that only existed in the dreamscape shouted as he was unable to restrain him physically.

"Stay calm, everything will be fine." The lorelei under Aphrodite’s command whispered seductively on Uriel’s ear, but to her shock he continued to struggle even when pressed to the ground by the weight of a mountain troll.

Inside Tyche’s realm it didn’t matter what size they were originally, all creatures were more or less the same size. However, their weight was another matter entirely and the mountain troll which was arguably more of a mountain and less of a troll did weight too much even for some gods.

"We can’t kill him! We would lose all of the precious artifacts, we need to torture him!" A fairy who cried after the relics of lady death were bought directly in front of her eyes.

"Yes, torture him!" Uriel shouted as he watched how the cryptids piled on the shapeshifter for some reason. It was his chance to sneak out and he wasn’t going to miss it. He started taking back steps one after the other while directing a last grateful look to the shapeshifter who didn’t shift its shape even after cryptids started piling up on her.

Just as Uriel was about to reach the exit, he seemingly walked into a wall and he turned to correct his path only it wasn’t a wall but the lady of the domain.

"Where do you think you’re going?" The goddess of fortune glared at Uriel as she effortlessly stopped him on his tracks.
