Chapter 33: Episode 33: Getting Rid of the Jerk – Part 1
“Has He Tong met you guys or not… Although he’s a jerk, he’s not stupid…” Yao Shanshan helplessly looked at Zhou Xueyin and Li Jiniang, “Say something realistic… getting a girl to pretend it’s me definitely won’t work!”
“Forget it, forget it, I’ll ask Old Li,” Li Jiniang took out her phone, ready to draft a message.
“Old Li? Who is that?” The three looked at Li Jiniang puzzled.
“Li Ranxu, who else.” Li Jiniang said nonchalantly.

“Wow, Jixiang, when did you get so close with Li Ranxu? How come we didn’t know about this?” Zhou Xueyin teased.
“Go on, go on, Shanshan, just say it’s okay, and I’ll get Li Ranxu to help out,” Li Jiniang urged Yao Shanshan, who still seemed hesitant.
“If he’s willing to help, then it’s fine…” Yao Shanshan said without much confidence.
“That’s all I needed to hear…” Li Jiniang happily pressed the send button.
“Oh~~! Jixiang, aren’t you just looking for an excuse to have Li Ranxu come over?” Zhou Xueyin suddenly realized as she looked at Li Jiniang.
“Now that you know, don’t say it out loud, okay? I do have some pride, you know?” Li Jiniang said, grinning at everyone.
“…” Kang Siyin appeared to be on the verge of saying something.
“KK, what’s wrong?” Zhou Xueyin noticed Kang Siyin’s troubled expression.
“…” Kang Siyin opened her mouth as if to say something but then thought better of it, “Forget it, I should also practice interacting with strangers. Especially with boys, I can’t live in the online virtual world forever…”
“Actually, you don’t have to force yourself… If worse comes to worst, when Li Ranxu comes, I can go for a walk downstairs with you!” Zhou Xueyin patted Kang Siyin on the shoulder.
Zhou Xueyin knew that Kang Siyin’s fear of strangers was innate, and in addition to her accelerated heartbeat and sweaty hands and feet when facing strangers, these psychological symptoms couldn’t just be overcome by talking about it.
“Okay! Thanks!” Kang Siyin nodded gratefully.
As soon as Li Jiniang sent the message, Li Ranxu replied very quickly, happily agreeing to help them out.
The next day, Li Ranxu appeared outside at the agreed time.
Zhou Xueyin took Kang Siyin to feed cats in the residential area while Li Jiniang and Yao Shanshan entertained Li Ranxu, and devised a “shake off” plan.
That afternoon, Li Jiniang took quite a few photos of Li Ranxu and Yao Shanshan looking very “close.” Yao Shanshan picked a few that would most provoke He Tong, edited them in Photoshop, added the words: ‘Thank you for helping me out of the gloom,’ and posted them to her QQ space.
Although she had already blocked He Tong, she still had mutual friends in her contacts, so Yao Shanshan wasn’t worried that He Tong wouldn’t see the post.
“Big handsome guy, thank you so much for today!” Li Jiniang and Yao Shanshan repeatedly thanked Li Ranxu.
“No problem, no problem, I’ve done this sort of thing many times before. They all seemed to like asking for my help…” Li Ranxu said modestly with a smile.
“Of course, with your charm and physique! Any sensible person wouldn’t rush to bother their ex,” Li Jiniang praised him repeatedly.
“Just not sure if He Tong is that sensible…” Yao Shanshan still seemed a bit worried.
“No worries, if he pesters you, we’ll just show off in front of him!” Li Jiniang said nonchalantly.
“You’re not even asking if I agree…” Li Ranxu squinted his eyes at Li Jiniang.
“I don’t mind at all, what is there for you to mind!” Li Jiniang rolled her eyes at him, “Right now, helping Shanbao deal with that scumbag is the top priority!”
“I’m done with you guys…” Li Ranxu shook his head as he held his forehead.
“Hey, let’s all have dinner together tonight! I’ll cook! I really need to thank you!” After posting on QQ Space, Yao Shanshan felt as if a stone had been lifted from her chest and was eager to cook a big meal.
“Sure, Jixiang always mentions how good your cooking is. I’m fortunate to have a taste today!” Li Ranxu said politely.
Li Jiniang texted Kang Siyin and Zhou Xueyin to buy some groceries from the supermarket on their way home.
But the three people in the house had no idea that upon their return, not only would they bring groceries, but also two newborn kittens, one a fold-ear milk cow cat with black and white patches and the other a raccoon cat with brown and white stripes.
“What are you two doing…” Li Jiniang looked bewilderingly at the kitties meowing in the bag.
“Hey, speaking of which, they weren’t there when we left.” Zhou Xueyin wiped her sweat, “Kang Siyin and I went downstairs to feed the night cats and basically walked around the neighborhood. Then we got your text to go to the supermarket. Just next to the trash can downstairs, we saw a plastic bag, and inside it were these two…”
“Then you two felt sorry for them and brought them back?” Li Jiniang finished the sentence for Zhou Xueyin.
“Yes!” Zhou Xueyin handed the groceries to Yao Shanshan, “Got any water? I’m dying of thirst…”
“Here…” Li Ranxu surprisingly handed over two bottles of chilled Coke.
“Huh? You haven’t left yet?” Zhou Xueyin jumped, thinking Li Ranxu had already gone back.
“Thanks… thank you…” Kang Siyin also took a Coke, thanking him softly.
Then hurriedly changed shoes and rushed into the bedroom.
Yao Shanshan was cooking; Li Jiniang and Zhou Xueyin cooperated in the bathroom to wash the two abandoned kittens.
It seemed they had just been weaned, their cries still babyish. Walnut heard the cries of the two kittens, anxiously pacing at the bathroom door.
Li Ranxu picked up Walnut, comforting it.
“I… I’ll go downstairs to buy some kitten food…” Kang Siyin mustered the courage to speak to Li Ranxu.
Li Ranxu merely nodded, and Kang Siyin had already run out.
‘Am I that scary?’ Li Ranxu chuckled at himself.
After Li Jiniang and Zhou Xueyin cleaned the two kittens, they placed them upstairs in the attic.
Walnut wriggled free from Li Ranxu’s embrace, followed them upstairs, lying next to the kittens, licking their fur as if they were its own children.
After Kang Siyin bought the kitten food, Yao Shanshan had just finished the last dish.
“Wow! It smells so good! Delicious! Your cooking skills, if you weren’t in IT, opening a private kitchen would definitely be a hit!” Li Ranxu raved after a taste.
“No, no, it’s just home cooking…” Yao Shanshan said modestly.
It was supposed to be a joyful dinner, but a series of urgent knocks interrupted everything.
“Yao Shanshan! You shameless girl! How quickly you find a new boyfriend behind my back! Open the door! Open it now!” The voice of He Tong, frantic and livid, resounded outside the door.
