Chapter 60: DOWN TO THE HELLHOLE — PART 2.

The trio pushed deeper.

The trio pushed deeper into the nest. With every level they descended, the air grew thinner, harder to breathe. Until it thickened again, this time with heat and the stench of rot. Sweat clung to their suits. Their breathing turned harsh, labored.

Savier’s voice exploded through the tunnels. "COME ON! WHERE YOU ALL AT, HUH?"

Johnquis flinched, whipping around. "You fucker—will you shut that damn mouth? Just like your Eater Blade, your mouth’s a fucking shotgun."

Savier just grinned. "I expected this to be D-tier. I need more Eaters to feed my blade—"

A screech cut him off. Too loud... and too close.

"HRRRAAAAGHHH!"

Dozens of Eaters poured from the tunnel ahead, clawing over each other to get to them.

Savier grinning wide. "That’s the sound I needed."

He surged forward. His shotgun roared—

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Each blast tore something apart. Limbs flew. Heads cracked open. When the gun clicked dry, he shifted without pause, blade flashing out. He dropped into a spin and sliced high, carving a path through the swarm.

Johnquis wasn’t about to let him hog the chaos. His chains snapped out like vipers—grabbing Eaters mid-lunge and whipping them into the wall. One he caught midair, twisted, and slammed into another. Bone cracked like brittle shells.

Dancer moved like a shadow, blending into the dark—only the silver flash of her heel-blades gave her away. Her legs sliced, her claws raked, every step deliberate and exact. She was death in motion. Blood sprayed the tunnel walls in wide, violent arcs as her blades tore through throats and spines with surgical grace.

And still they kept coming. The second wave ended with a blood-slick hush.

Savier wiped gore off his blade. "Damn. My trigger finger’s getting horny."

Johnquis about to opened his mouth to reply but then he got stopped.

The ground rumbled.

A low, bone-deep thud rolled through the tunnel, followed by a grinding, crunching scrape.

Three shadows stepped forward from the dark.

They were bigger now. Malformed. Each one stood over two meters tall—hunched but heavy, their limbs swollen with thick, unnatural muscle. Their skin wasn’t just armored; it looked like slabs of fused stone had grown out of them. Chunks of rock and bone jutted from their flesh like crude armor plates. Their eyes glowed a sick violet.

The kind that could eat five men and barely slow down.

Johnquis stared at them. "These abnormals are getting out of hand. Look at them—fused into the nest. Rock popping out of their skin."

Savier’s grin twitched. "Why, Johnkiss? Your balls get weak seeing these sick bastards?"

"I can take all of them," Johnquis muttered. "You just stay put so the weird stitches in your jacket don’t get bitten off."

The three Abnormals hissed in unison—cutting their banter short.

Then they charged.

The tunnel exploded into chaos.

Dancer moved first, slipping past the boys before they even stopped talking. She was already on the move.

She met the center Abnormal head-on, darting low beneath its first swing. The brute slammed its fist into the floor where she’d been —

CRACK!

The impact shattered concrete. She rebounded off the wall, flipped over its head, and came down heels first into the gap at the base of its neck.

SHUNK.

The blade pierced deep, but not enough to kill.

The Abnormal roared and thrashed. She clung to its back, stabbing again, and again, and again—fast, surgical jabs into the cracks of its stone flesh.

The abnormal rammed backward into the wall, trying to crush her. But she vaulted off, flipped, and landed perfectly behind it. freeweɓnovel-cøm

It turned, slow and enraged. Just in time to see her claws flash across its eyes.

Then, with one final, clean kick, she spun and drove both heel blades into its exposed throat.

CRACK. GURGLE.

The beast fell.

The second Abnormal charged fast, trying to blindside Dancer. But Johnquis moved. He hurled his chain forward and hooked it around the it’s wrist, yanking hard and dragging it toward him. Then he leapt, landed on top of it, and pulled the chain tighter—jerking the abnormal’s arm to smash its own face.

SMACK!

The Abnormal’s face flattened against its own fist.

Johnquis twisted the chain, wrapping it around the abnormal’s throat. Using it’s size against it, he pulled with both arms, forcing its head down. The abnormal shrieked and staggered, trying to throw him off. He reeled both chains tighter, then dropped low—sliding down its back as the hooks bit deeper into flesh.

SHRAKKK.

Its spine snapped.

The abnormal crashed to the ground and didn’t rise again.

Savier faced the last.

It lunged, twice his size, rocks covering most of its upper body. He skidded to the side, barely dodging a swipe that tore a chunk out of the wall. He fired once—

BANG!

The slug barely cracked the shoulder.

He cursed, switching to blade-mode and dove in close.

"C’mon, big boy. Show me what that rock butt can do!"

The Abnormal snarled, swinging down with both fists. Savier ducked and rolled under, blade slashing at its knees. Sparks flew, rock hide was tough.

He backed off, shotgun barked again. Missed.

"Alright, screw this—!"

He leapt forward, grabbing its arm, and climbed the abnormal’s body mid-roar. Using the shotgun as a brace, he slammed the muzzle into the soft underside of its jaw.

"Smile for me."

BOOM!

Its lower jaw exploded.

The abnormal reeled — shrieking, blood spraying.

He dropped behind it, shifted to blade-mode, and slashed across its legs, fast and hard. Then drove the blade up through its back as it collapsed.

The Abnormal’s body convulsed, twitched and died on the spot.

Savier stood over it, panting. "Holy hell... that thing was rock."
