Emperor's Reckoning-Chapter 917
Chapter 917: Be Our Teacher
โWellโฆ?โ Lyon raised one of his brows. โYouโve been raising your chin enough to reach the ceiling, how does the ground taste?โ f๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ๐๐๐งเซฆ๐๐ฒl.c๐๐ฎ
โKh!โ Judsah couldnโt retort. He was the one that looked him down, not knowing that he was the sheep all along.
โPlease, forgive us,โ said the old man. โThis fellow of mine is not old enough to wise up, thus his behavior.โ
Lyon smirked, โYou have all the power to subdue his impolite gesture, yet you did nothing. You think Iโm a blind old man or something?!โ
Both guests opened their eyes wide. They were caught off guard by the tone he gave even though he knew that they were from the Second Heaven.
โEnough, I will not pursue this matter longer than it should,โ said Lyon. โI believe that youโre here from Mavis, right?โ
Both raised their brows before the old man asked, โDid young master Mavis contact you prior to our visit?โ
โNo,โ answered Lyon. โGraham told me whatโs going on.โ Seeing their confused looks, he continued, โHe is the guy that choked you like a chicken.โ
( The driver )
โI-I see,โ the old man muttered. ( So he overheard our conversation? Or was it from Garuda? ).
โNow, then, letโs talk about why youโre here,โ said Lyon. โI believe it has something to do with the Second Heaven? Iโve heard you mention a class.โ
โY-Yes,โ said the old man before he made a fake cough and sharpened his eyes, โWe are here today to offer you a position of teaching in a grand school in Second Heaven.โ
โDamn, that Mavis, what he got to do with a school,โ muttered Lyon, though it was heard by both guests. โWhatโs the catch?โ
โYouโre not going to ask about the benefit?โ
โI have my own ways,โ said Lyon.
โWell, youโre going to teach the worst in class,โ said Judsah.
โThey are not the worst, they are just, underdeveloped,โ said the old man before following a sigh. โYoung master Mavis believes that you and he shared the same vision about cultivation.โ
โWhat?โ Lyon frowned. โI never share my thoughts with him.โ
โHe said that you would believe in equal chances for all, meaning that hard work will triumph over those who are talented,โ said Judsah. โMore or less.โ
Lyon grunted before he said, โThatโs a hot take.โ
The old man sighed, โThose children strived to be the best, well, at least when they first enroll.โ
Lyon raised his brows, โSounds like there is a bit more story of this, I mean, the fact that you go all the way to Mortal World, even more so to find a teacher, you must be really desperate.โ
Both of them had their head down.
Lyon frowned, โWhat happened to the previous teacher?โ
โWell, the students didnโt like them,โ said the principal.
โAll of them?โ Lyon raised his brows. โThatโs bullshit.โ
โItโs true,โ Judsah nodded.
โThen why not dismiss the whole class?โ Lyon frowned.
โBecause that would be a slap toward young master Mavis,โ said Judsah, โWe canโt possibly do that toward one of our backings.โ
โBacking eh?โ Lyon smirked. โAlright then, what is this school called?โ
โThe Nirvana School,โ said the old man. โThatโs why we have this lotus insignia.โ
โNirvana and lotus,โ Lyon shrugged. โWho are your backings?โ
โIโm sorry but I canโt disclose that directly,โ said the old man.
โBut you just said that Mavis was one of them,โ Lyon frowned.
โThatโs because you are the young masterโs friend and recommendation, where it not from him we would have never visited this place,โ said Judsah.
โPretty big words for someone on the bed,โ said Lyon.
โY-You get the idea.โ
โHow about someone else? Nobody else wanted to take on the job?โ asked Lyon.
The old man shook his head, โIt seems like most of them are more afraid of offending the young masters if they fail.โ
โThese kids, how old are they?โ asked Lyon.
โAbout fifteen to eighteen, more or less,โ said Judsah.
โHow many are they?โ
โThree.โ
โWhat?โ Lyon raised his brows, โA class has only three students?โ
โYes, itโs an elite school,โ said the old man as he chuckled. โEvery teacher can only teach three students max.โ
โAre you a teacher, Judsah?โ asked Lyon.
โNo,โ Judsah shook his head, โIโm the vice-principal.โ
โWoah, really?โ Lyon raised his brows before snorting a smirk. โSo the principal and the vice-principal canโt take any students?โ
โItโs the law,โ said the old man.
โAlright, how long should I teach?โ asked Lyon. โYou canโt expect me to teach in your school forever.โ
โNo,โ said the old man, โBut if you do well, we might give you the offer.โ
โHeh, fuck off,โ said Lyon. โPerhaps itโs best to tell me about your school first, whatโs the difference.โ
โNirvana School is a school that only opened its doors once every three years. We only accept those elite backgrounds as well as elite talents. The eligible ages that can apply to us ranged from fifteen to twenty years maximum and they only have one chance to apply. The subjects that we are focusing on are cultivation and magic, in which we already famously excel. Our alumni have become important cultivators for Second Heaven and some are thrivings in Third Heaven,โ explained Judsah.
โHowever, young master Mavis initiated the first class where any background can apply,โ said the old man.
โSo let me get this straight,โ Lyon said, โYour system is inviting those with powerful backgrounds in Second Heaven, but the invitation is not to join your school, but rather the invitation to APPLY to your school?โ
โPrecisely,โ the old man nodded. โThe number of elite backgrounds in Second Heaven is numerous and we simply do not have enough teachers.โ
โThatโs a lie,โ Lyon answered. โItโs not that you donโt have enough teachers, but because you were never planning to increase another. Perhaps because the backings of your school were those five or six big clans in Sixth Heaven, right?โ
โYes,โ the old man nodded as Judsah take a surprised glance at him.
โHeh,โ Lyon smirked. โLooks like the Sixth Clan controlled most of the things in lower heaven.โ
โI donโt have the knowledge to answer that,โ said the old man.
โAlright, returning to my original question,โ said Lyon. โHow long?โ
โUntil they graduate,โ said Judsah. โWhich is in six months, give or take.โ
โHmm,โ Lyon grunted as he contemplated. โI have my own room right?โ
โNaturally,โ the old man nodded. โFood and general needs are supplied very well.โ
โSo I labor myself for free?โ asked Lyon. โWhat do I get from teaching those kids?โ
โMana Essence,โ said the old man. โEvery month you will be given Mana Essence for your service, whether youโre doing a good job or not.โ
( Teaching in exchange for drugs ) thought Lyon as he laughed inwardly. โAlright, I need to ask you something in return.โ
โHm?โ
โWhere can I find a seer in Second Heaven?โ asked Lyon with his eyes sharpened.
โThe seer? Well, perhaps in six month time,โ said Judsah.
โIn the graduation?โ
The old man nodded, โThe Graduation Event is a team battle between the classes. Itโs the biggest event.โ
โOh?โ Lyon raised his brows. โThatโs new, so itโs a war between classes?โ
โYes.โ
โAnd I only got six months to do this?โ
Both of them couldnโt evade his clarification.
โSo thatโs why nobody wants to take on the job,โ remarked Lyon. โThen what about those classes that lost.โ
โLet me explain,โ said the old man. โThe class can only graduate if they have reached a certain threshold by the end of the Graduation Event. For three years, the students will accumulate points based on the quests, exams, etc. After that, by the end of the Graduation Event, if the accumulation points of all three students didnโt reach the threshold, then they would truly fail.โ
โLet me guess,โ Lyon laughed. โThis class that Iโm teaching, itโs on the brink of failure?โ
โIt seems like nothing can hide from you,โ said the old man with a chuckle. โYou can be the beacon of hope.โ
โWhatโs the minimum placement my class has to be, for them to graduate?โ asked Lyon.
โNumber one,โ said Judsah.
โThey have to win the Graduation Event for them to graduate,โ said the old man. โNow then, Hero of the Mortal World, Lyon Torga, are you willing to become an even bigger hero?โ
โNo,โ said Lyon.
โKh?!โ
โI never want to be a hero,โ said Lyon as he stood up from his chair. โAn even bigger one? Thatโs just inviting unnecessary trouble.โ
The guests looked at each other for ideas of words but none of them could think of something.
โI owe Mavis, well, we actually paid him back but whatever,โ Lyon shrugged. โI have my own matter and coincidentally, his path crossed with mine once again.โ
โSo are you willing?โ said the beaming old man.
Lyon smirked, โThe circumstances are too hard to reject.โ
โGreat! Then we will depart at your earliest convenience!โ said the old man.
โIโm not going there alone,โ said Lyon.
โHuhโฆ?โ
Lyon crossed his arms and smirked.
