Chapter 917: Be Our Teacher

โ€œWellโ€ฆ?โ€ Lyon raised one of his brows. โ€œYouโ€™ve been raising your chin enough to reach the ceiling, how does the ground taste?โ€ f๐ซ๐‘’๐—ฒ๐™ฌ๐’†๐š‹๐งเซฆ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒl.c๐š˜๐˜ฎ

โ€œKh!โ€ Judsah couldnโ€™t retort. He was the one that looked him down, not knowing that he was the sheep all along.

โ€œPlease, forgive us,โ€ said the old man. โ€œThis fellow of mine is not old enough to wise up, thus his behavior.โ€

Lyon smirked, โ€œYou have all the power to subdue his impolite gesture, yet you did nothing. You think Iโ€™m a blind old man or something?!โ€

Both guests opened their eyes wide. They were caught off guard by the tone he gave even though he knew that they were from the Second Heaven.

โ€œEnough, I will not pursue this matter longer than it should,โ€ said Lyon. โ€œI believe that youโ€™re here from Mavis, right?โ€

Both raised their brows before the old man asked, โ€œDid young master Mavis contact you prior to our visit?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ answered Lyon. โ€œGraham told me whatโ€™s going on.โ€ Seeing their confused looks, he continued, โ€œHe is the guy that choked you like a chicken.โ€

( The driver )

โ€œI-I see,โ€ the old man muttered. ( So he overheard our conversation? Or was it from Garuda? ).

โ€œNow, then, letโ€™s talk about why youโ€™re here,โ€ said Lyon. โ€œI believe it has something to do with the Second Heaven? Iโ€™ve heard you mention a class.โ€

โ€œY-Yes,โ€ said the old man before he made a fake cough and sharpened his eyes, โ€œWe are here today to offer you a position of teaching in a grand school in Second Heaven.โ€

โ€œDamn, that Mavis, what he got to do with a school,โ€ muttered Lyon, though it was heard by both guests. โ€œWhatโ€™s the catch?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re not going to ask about the benefit?โ€

โ€œI have my own ways,โ€ said Lyon.

โ€œWell, youโ€™re going to teach the worst in class,โ€ said Judsah.

โ€œThey are not the worst, they are just, underdeveloped,โ€ said the old man before following a sigh. โ€œYoung master Mavis believes that you and he shared the same vision about cultivation.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Lyon frowned. โ€œI never share my thoughts with him.โ€

โ€œHe said that you would believe in equal chances for all, meaning that hard work will triumph over those who are talented,โ€ said Judsah. โ€œMore or less.โ€

Lyon grunted before he said, โ€œThatโ€™s a hot take.โ€

The old man sighed, โ€œThose children strived to be the best, well, at least when they first enroll.โ€

Lyon raised his brows, โ€œSounds like there is a bit more story of this, I mean, the fact that you go all the way to Mortal World, even more so to find a teacher, you must be really desperate.โ€

Both of them had their head down.

Lyon frowned, โ€œWhat happened to the previous teacher?โ€

โ€œWell, the students didnโ€™t like them,โ€ said the principal.

โ€œAll of them?โ€ Lyon raised his brows. โ€œThatโ€™s bullshit.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s true,โ€ Judsah nodded.

โ€œThen why not dismiss the whole class?โ€ Lyon frowned.

โ€œBecause that would be a slap toward young master Mavis,โ€ said Judsah, โ€œWe canโ€™t possibly do that toward one of our backings.โ€

โ€œBacking eh?โ€ Lyon smirked. โ€œAlright then, what is this school called?โ€

โ€œThe Nirvana School,โ€ said the old man. โ€œThatโ€™s why we have this lotus insignia.โ€

โ€œNirvana and lotus,โ€ Lyon shrugged. โ€œWho are your backings?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorry but I canโ€™t disclose that directly,โ€ said the old man.

โ€œBut you just said that Mavis was one of them,โ€ Lyon frowned.

โ€œThatโ€™s because you are the young masterโ€™s friend and recommendation, where it not from him we would have never visited this place,โ€ said Judsah.

โ€œPretty big words for someone on the bed,โ€ said Lyon.

โ€œY-You get the idea.โ€

โ€œHow about someone else? Nobody else wanted to take on the job?โ€ asked Lyon.

The old man shook his head, โ€œIt seems like most of them are more afraid of offending the young masters if they fail.โ€

โ€œThese kids, how old are they?โ€ asked Lyon.

โ€œAbout fifteen to eighteen, more or less,โ€ said Judsah.

โ€œHow many are they?โ€

โ€œThree.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Lyon raised his brows, โ€œA class has only three students?โ€

โ€œYes, itโ€™s an elite school,โ€ said the old man as he chuckled. โ€œEvery teacher can only teach three students max.โ€

โ€œAre you a teacher, Judsah?โ€ asked Lyon.

โ€œNo,โ€ Judsah shook his head, โ€œIโ€™m the vice-principal.โ€

โ€œWoah, really?โ€ Lyon raised his brows before snorting a smirk. โ€œSo the principal and the vice-principal canโ€™t take any students?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s the law,โ€ said the old man.

โ€œAlright, how long should I teach?โ€ asked Lyon. โ€œYou canโ€™t expect me to teach in your school forever.โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ said the old man, โ€œBut if you do well, we might give you the offer.โ€

โ€œHeh, fuck off,โ€ said Lyon. โ€œPerhaps itโ€™s best to tell me about your school first, whatโ€™s the difference.โ€

โ€œNirvana School is a school that only opened its doors once every three years. We only accept those elite backgrounds as well as elite talents. The eligible ages that can apply to us ranged from fifteen to twenty years maximum and they only have one chance to apply. The subjects that we are focusing on are cultivation and magic, in which we already famously excel. Our alumni have become important cultivators for Second Heaven and some are thrivings in Third Heaven,โ€ explained Judsah.

โ€œHowever, young master Mavis initiated the first class where any background can apply,โ€ said the old man.

โ€œSo let me get this straight,โ€ Lyon said, โ€œYour system is inviting those with powerful backgrounds in Second Heaven, but the invitation is not to join your school, but rather the invitation to APPLY to your school?โ€

โ€œPrecisely,โ€ the old man nodded. โ€œThe number of elite backgrounds in Second Heaven is numerous and we simply do not have enough teachers.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s a lie,โ€ Lyon answered. โ€œItโ€™s not that you donโ€™t have enough teachers, but because you were never planning to increase another. Perhaps because the backings of your school were those five or six big clans in Sixth Heaven, right?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ the old man nodded as Judsah take a surprised glance at him.

โ€œHeh,โ€ Lyon smirked. โ€œLooks like the Sixth Clan controlled most of the things in lower heaven.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t have the knowledge to answer that,โ€ said the old man.

โ€œAlright, returning to my original question,โ€ said Lyon. โ€œHow long?โ€

โ€œUntil they graduate,โ€ said Judsah. โ€œWhich is in six months, give or take.โ€

โ€œHmm,โ€ Lyon grunted as he contemplated. โ€œI have my own room right?โ€

โ€œNaturally,โ€ the old man nodded. โ€œFood and general needs are supplied very well.โ€

โ€œSo I labor myself for free?โ€ asked Lyon. โ€œWhat do I get from teaching those kids?โ€

โ€œMana Essence,โ€ said the old man. โ€œEvery month you will be given Mana Essence for your service, whether youโ€™re doing a good job or not.โ€

( Teaching in exchange for drugs ) thought Lyon as he laughed inwardly. โ€œAlright, I need to ask you something in return.โ€

โ€œHm?โ€

โ€œWhere can I find a seer in Second Heaven?โ€ asked Lyon with his eyes sharpened.

โ€œThe seer? Well, perhaps in six month time,โ€ said Judsah.

โ€œIn the graduation?โ€

The old man nodded, โ€œThe Graduation Event is a team battle between the classes. Itโ€™s the biggest event.โ€

โ€œOh?โ€ Lyon raised his brows. โ€œThatโ€™s new, so itโ€™s a war between classes?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œAnd I only got six months to do this?โ€

Both of them couldnโ€™t evade his clarification.

โ€œSo thatโ€™s why nobody wants to take on the job,โ€ remarked Lyon. โ€œThen what about those classes that lost.โ€

โ€œLet me explain,โ€ said the old man. โ€œThe class can only graduate if they have reached a certain threshold by the end of the Graduation Event. For three years, the students will accumulate points based on the quests, exams, etc. After that, by the end of the Graduation Event, if the accumulation points of all three students didnโ€™t reach the threshold, then they would truly fail.โ€

โ€œLet me guess,โ€ Lyon laughed. โ€œThis class that Iโ€™m teaching, itโ€™s on the brink of failure?โ€

โ€œIt seems like nothing can hide from you,โ€ said the old man with a chuckle. โ€œYou can be the beacon of hope.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s the minimum placement my class has to be, for them to graduate?โ€ asked Lyon.

โ€œNumber one,โ€ said Judsah.

โ€œThey have to win the Graduation Event for them to graduate,โ€ said the old man. โ€œNow then, Hero of the Mortal World, Lyon Torga, are you willing to become an even bigger hero?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ said Lyon.

โ€œKh?!โ€

โ€œI never want to be a hero,โ€ said Lyon as he stood up from his chair. โ€œAn even bigger one? Thatโ€™s just inviting unnecessary trouble.โ€

The guests looked at each other for ideas of words but none of them could think of something.

โ€œI owe Mavis, well, we actually paid him back but whatever,โ€ Lyon shrugged. โ€œI have my own matter and coincidentally, his path crossed with mine once again.โ€

โ€œSo are you willing?โ€ said the beaming old man.

Lyon smirked, โ€œThe circumstances are too hard to reject.โ€

โ€œGreat! Then we will depart at your earliest convenience!โ€ said the old man.

โ€œIโ€™m not going there alone,โ€ said Lyon.

โ€œHuhโ€ฆ?โ€

Lyon crossed his arms and smirked.
