Enchanting His Heart: His Little Fox-Chapter 237: I Like You, So I’m Willing to Pursue You
She suddenly felt a bit proud inside, and looked at Tang Si with a smile: "Can I understand it as you having secretly admired me all along, and now you’re quietly waiting for me to chase you?"
Tang Si pressed his lips together and said nothing.
Because that’s indeed how it was.
If Song Yi didn’t chase him, then this secret admiration would remain just that — nothing more would come of it.
Nor would they have the close relationship they do today.
Song Yi tilted her head to look at Tang Si: "But that’s alright, I like you, so I’m willing to chase you."
She knew very well in her heart, if it weren’t for her actively pursuing him, they wouldn’t have this outcome between them.
Tang Si gestured for Song Yi: "Come here for a bit."
He was sitting on the sofa, his tone indifferent, and Song Yi couldn’t see any emotion in his eyes.
Obediently, she walked towards him; she liked to squat, so she squatted at his feet, instinctively placing her hand on his leg: "What’s up?"
Tang Si lowered his eyes, his gaze steady: "Haven’t offended anyone lately?"
"No." Song Yi, although puzzled by his sudden question, answered truthfully.
Unlike their first meeting when she would constantly counter him during interrogations.
"What’s the matter? Did Director Cheng say something to you?" Song Yi asked him.
"Yes." Tang Si picked up his phone and opened his email, where Director Cheng had just sent him a recording.
It was the recording of the call he had answered in the office just now.
In the call recording, the man on the other end specifically requested Song Yi to come over.
The small village in the south had seen many rescued and captured, but many people were still held hostage.
The situation there had reached an urgent state, with almost all supplies and equipment depleted, nearly unable to hold on any longer.
It was then that a call came in, naming and requesting her to go over.
Song Yi said: "Is it just about this matter? I don’t recognize this voice, I’ve never heard it, nor does it sound familiar, so it might not be someone I know, or maybe they’ve changed their voice."
"I’ll go if that’s the case; trading myself for all those hostages is worth it." Song Yi licked her lips: "So today you’ll deliver supplies there, and take me along too, right?"
Tang Si looked at Song Yi with a complex gaze, unable to speak.
His throat was tight.
But in the end, this was something that had to be faced; by showing her the recording and letting her discern the voice, he had already summoned all his courage.
But how could he do it, to send her away personally?
Even if he didn’t let her hear it, Director Cheng would.
It was all unavoidable.
"No..." Tang Si uttered just one word.
The rest of the words never came out, and he shifted his gaze away from her.
The psychological conflict was oppressive, like being dragged into a bottomless abyss.
Despair and darkness enveloped him, invading his entire being.
At this moment, his limbs felt cold, heavy.
In the past, Tang Si was decisive, never hesitating in his actions.
Because he was inherently cold, his blood was cold, he cared for nothing but the goal.
But now... for this one matter, he couldn’t muster the resolve.
