Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World-Chapter 25: The Rare Chest Rewards! Forging the Epic Tempest Dagger
But before he opened the chest, he decided to quickly check his status window.
The reason the fight had felt so easy was because the boss had a combat score one whole points lower than him. Without a doubt, having received his new talent, his stats looked incredibly impressive.

"Not bad." Caelus commented.
Tyrant-Level Beasts always gave 50 EXP and the EXP doesn’t usually go down and you can grind it endlessly. But finding them is what the real struggle is. But once the Domain fully opens up, there will be more opportunities. Initially levelling was always a struggle.
After verifying his status, Caelus directly focused on the glowing treasure chest.
Treasure chests were incredibly hard to come by in the wild, so he had to make full use of this rare opportunity!
[System: You have opened a 1-Star Rare Treasure Chest.]
[System: You have obtained: Vitality Reservoir Fruit x1]
[System: You have obtained: Treasure Map x1]
[System: You have obtained: Tempest Combat Set (Rare) x1]
"What?" Caelus almost jumped in pure joy seeing this.
A complete combat set and a Vitality Reservoir Fruit?
Without hesitation, he summoned the Vitality Reservoir Fruit from his inventory to read its exact description.
[Item: Vitality Reservoir Fruit - Permanently increases the user’s total HP by 10 points.]
"It is the lowest grade, huh?" Caelus nodded. He wasn’t disappointed at all; it was completely to be expected from a 1-Star Rare chest.
The reservoir fruits generally had two distinct tiers: Low Grade and High Grade. The Low Grade offered a 10-point increment, while the High Grade offered 25.
But it had to be mentioned that even dropping the lower quality version alone required one to be impressively luckier than average. Just one of these fruits could easily sell for 100,000 Origin Credits on the real-world market. But as of right now, he wasn’t in a desperate hurry to make money. He had several other profitable methods for that, and having ten extra HP points, especially in these dangerous plains, could absolutely guarantee his survival.
Without another thought, he bit into the fruit and swallowed it.
[HP: 110/110]
"Perfect." Caelus was full of smiles.
With that done, Caelus’s eyes fell eagerly onto the Tempest Combat Set.
The Combat Set was, as the name implied, a complete package. It contained a choice of weapon and also a piece of armor. There was, of course, a highly specific reason as to why players coveted them. In the Domain, if your weaponry and armor shared the exact same origin, a powerful passive bonus effect would trigger from the set itself.
Caelus immediately checked the passive effect of the Tempest gear.
[Set Passive: Eye of the Storm - While standing within an active Lightning or Wind-based area of effect, the mana cost of lightning and wind movement and evasion skills is halved. Successfully dodging an attack in this state triggers a localized gust of wind, violently pushing the attacker off-balance and increasing the chances of a critical hit for up to five times. If a critical hit has not been delivered by the fifth cycle, the next lightning or wind attack is absolutely guaranteed to crit.]
Seeing this, Caelus was completely dumbfounded.
"Huh...? Isn’t this absolutely perfect for the Lightning Domain?" Caelus could hardly believe his luck.
Was there really such an insane coincidence? This combat set was tailor-made for someone like him who possessed the Lightning Domain and heavily utilized Lightning Step to move around the battlefield.
Critical Hit.
This was a crucial combat mechanic in both reality and the Domain.
If you landed a critical hit, your damage output was essentially tremendously boosted. It was a hidden stat, and every entity had a base crit multiplier. There were naturally ways to temporarily boost it, and most elite players utilized passive equipment effects exactly like this one, while the absolute peak experts utilized Mythic or Legendary skills.
The higher your crit multiplier, the more explosive damage you dealt while critting.
Of course, that was strictly under the condition that you actually landed the hit. But in close-call battles where combat scores were almost identical, critical hits were your absolute best friend.
Then, without hesitation, Caelus pulled the combat set out of his inventory. However, before it fully materialized in his hands, a prompt appeared in his vision.
[System: Choose weapon type.]
"I will choose the Tempest Dagger for now," Caelus mumbled as he selected the dagger out of the many other weapon options listed.
For now, a dagger was what felt best in Caelus’s hand. It was short and swift. For someone like him who now heavily worked around speed by utilizing his lightning abilities, a dagger was the only weapon that could comfortably match his pace.
Of course, that could very well change in the future. He didn’t plan on sticking with a dagger forever. It was great for speed and swift eliminations right now, but in the long run, mastering another type of weapon might prove far more suitable.
And after it came out into the open area, he swiftly removed the impurities in it and turned it epic before equipping.
"Hm, the next objective is making my cabin reach Level 2," Caelus observed.
Cabins had progressive levels, and so did Towns. But Town matters aside, increasing one’s personal cabin level meant directly increasing its overall size, unlocking access to better structural equipment, and gaining amplified resting effects.
[Requirements for Cabin Level 2:
1. Saber Tooth of a Saber-Toothed Tiger (0/10)
2. Mana-Infused Ironwood Logs (0/50)
3. Refined Stone Blocks (0/30)
4. Origin Credits (0/500)]
Caelus’s expression darkened when he read the material list.
"500 Origin Credits? Damn, are you trying to rip me off?" Caelus didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
But Caelus wasn’t demotivated by this at all. 500 Origin Credits was an amount he could easily pull right out of his deep pockets right now. As for the Mana-Infused Ironwood Logs, he knew exactly where to harvest them. It was the same for the teeth of a Saber-Toothed Tiger.
They should all be located in the second area of the Newbie Plains.
With this tyrant cave fully cleared, he had successfully explored all of the first area of the Newbie Plains. That meant his required upgrade materials were all waiting for him in the next zone.
"It is finally time to enter the second area and grind out some real levels." Caelus smiled.
His absolute goal today was grinding his level up and securing the Town Leader position before anyone else could.
But before he left the cave, he decided to check out the Treasure Map he had just obtained from the chest.
A Treasure Map was a highly coveted item that supposedly led a player to hidden ancient ruins or secret, unmapped dungeons across the Domain. What if the ruin turned out to be right here in the first area? He did not want to miss it and have to hike all the way back here later. He planned on teleporting directly back to town and then heading straight to the second area from now on. This beginner zone was getting far too boring, after all.
With that thought in mind, he eagerly pulled the Treasure Map from his inventory.
But, To his utter surprise, it did not look like paper or parchment at all. It looked exactly like a physical, metallic key.
[Item: Treasure Map (ERR_DTA_?)]
[System: Please return to reality to use this item.]
"Huh...?" Caelus’s expression drastically changed when he read the highly anomalous system notification.
An item that’s connected to reality?!
