BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The clash between the Paragons and the Royal Guards was intense. It caused earth-rending aftershocks and massive explosions that could easily destroy a star or two.

As they fought, the Paragons got some key details that made them feel a little solemn. The main point was that these royal guards somehow knew what teamwork is.

They know how to cover for each other, allowing them to survive blows that should've killed them and ended this battle. They also knew how to team up, combining their attacks on a single person and causing their target to be embarrassed. It has already happened a few times at this point, which stoked the annoyance and killing intent of the Paragons.

Teamwork. The word certainly had value, especially in the guardian army, yet it's a very common and given thing. Obviously, nobody could defend the entire Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm alone, so they'd have to work together to do so.

The concept is a common and given thing...to living beings, that is. The Void Creatures displayed it was subverting their views, though, because they shouldn't be able to do that.

Void creatures should be governed by their sheer instincts. Seeking only to swallow everything within the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm until nothing was left. They shouldn't be showing signs of intelligence and wisdom like living creatures do. Yet here they are, exhibiting just that. How can they not be surprised?

And it's such a sudden spike in their intelligence too. They didn't show any similar signs in their previous invasion, and it hasn't even been that long since that happened.

Which leads to the next point...the Void Prince was truly an unprecedented monster that needs to be put down immediately. Because the longer he lives, the worse it means for the realm.

Because who else could bring about such change into the void aside from him? The consciousness of the Void itself took eons before it came up with a decision to breed its own champion, yet it only took a few years for the Void Prince to elevate his subjects' intelligence to a level that made the Cosmic Level experts wary.

Yes, there might already have been traces of intelligence within the Void Creatures even before his birth, but it's very minimal. It only appeared because the Void decided to infuse wisdom into its champion. The void itself doesn't have any uses for it. And the fact that the Void Prince could easily use fragments of this wisdom as a foundation to build something else entirely was even more frightening.

That black comet coming out from the other side of the gates? That's probably his idea too. He knew that nobody would recklessly dare to go to the other side to deal with whatever that was because not only would they have to go through the literal sea of void filled with monsters to do so, but it's also just not worth it because they're literally throwing their lives away; it's a meaningless sacrifice that the guardians could not afford.

But wisdom is wisdom. Strength is strength. And as many used to say: in the face of absolute might, all schemes are worthless.

Sure, the Royal Guards managed to annoy the Paragons and exposed the elevated intelligence they possessed, but was it enough to make them an actual threat to the guardians? Not really.

If this was the old guardians, it might be. But the current ones, especially after all the improvement in their equipment? Yeah, no.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

See, the thing is, even though the Ancient Chaos Path practitioners didn't actively participate in the clash, their mere presence had a strong effect on the area they're in, and it's effortless for them to make this happen.

Being the carriers of Chaos Energy, which was the very first energy source produced during the birth of this realm and the very same energy source that bred concept laws, their mere act of diffusing Chaos Energy in the air is already a ton of help.

The infusion of Chaos Energy in the surrounding area not only bolstered the might and density of laws, but it also brought a profound means of suppression for the Void Creatures, for as much as the Void Energy was harmful to living beings, Chaos Energy was also harmful to the Void Creatures.

What sets them apart is that the void creatures are unaware of the Chaos Energy around them while living beings are too familiar with the Void Energy. The gap between the knowledge of the opposing camps wasn't something that could be bridged anytime soon. Besides, the guardians are already in the part where they're using void energy to harm void creatures. And so long as the Ancient Chaos Path practitioners remained hidden, the void wouldn't be able to exploit them at all.

The poor creatures, despite displaying excellent teamwork, were eventually suppressed to death.

Until their very last moment, they never understood how they failed in their mission. They couldn't even get past the first barriers of the camp. They couldn't have imagined that the reason why was because the Paragons had the assistance of Chaos Energy bolstering not only the density of concept laws within the camp but also doubling the might of the Cosmic Level experts.

The growth in their intelligence was indeed something that living beings must be wary of, but as of now, it is not a threat.

Before dying, the Paragons spotted the origin of the Royal Guards trying to return to the void. Actually, they were waiting for this already, and under their watchful gazes, how can they return?

If these origin threads returned to the void, not only would these Royal Guards be instantly revived, but they'd even inform the Void Prince of everything they saw. How could the Paragons let that happen?

Besides, the Border Patrol Camps isn't a place where they could come and go as they please. Since they decided to come, they might as well stay here forever.

It just so happens that Cedric needed some new toys to play with. These things should keep him occupied for a while.

As for the common Void Creatures, they're not a concern. None of them are qualified for revival. Their origins are too lowly to be valuable in the Prince's eyes. It's easier for the Void to make new ones instead of reviving them.

With the Royal Guards dealt with, the audacity and aggressiveness of the remaining void creatures dropped significantly. They became like headless chickens without their leader, but instinctively, they still knew what they had to do.

Since they're scattered like this, it became easier to mow through their numbers. And with the Paragons now joining the fray, they were being pushed back.

The surveillance team still monitored the situation on the other side. They knew who was responsible for those black comets that were landing on the barriers. Of course, it was another Royal Guard, but that's hardly a surprise at this point. The point is that even if they knew, what could they do about it? They're not the command center; they can't simply order people to go to the other side to deal with that thing.

Besides, after the deal of the three Royal Guards earlier, the incoming black comets stopped. According to the feedback, the void creature who's throwing them mysteriously dissolved into a puddle of goo. The reason was unknown and not important right now.

On the bright side, it won't be long before this invasion is over. The 20 million void creatures might be astonishing in volume, but in the face of the improved firepower of the guardian camps, they were nothing.

As the incoming horde slowed down to a trickle, the discharge and overall density level of the void also went down. The situation was the same across all camps too.

When the void density levels dropped to level 5, the seal was repaired and the void energy discharge stopped. The alarms went silent, and the end of the invasion was announced, causing the exhausted soldiers to celebrate. Some even wept in relief and joy.

Clean-up will be delegated to those who couldn't actively participate in the defense, while those who did participate earned their merits and rest.

As calm returned to the camp, the combat protocol was deactivated, prompting the layout of the camp to change to its previous setting. The pylon network sank into inactivity, and the barriers disappeared since they're no longer needed.

As all of this happened, a recently awakened Cedric could be found standing on top of a building, wearing a wry smile on his face.

"Well, it seems that I wasn't needed at all. They had it all sorted out. Excellent."

Yes, he mostly slept through the entire invasion. In his defense, it didn't take long at all. Barely a day passed since he slept, and when he woke up, the invasion was already ending, and he didn't feel the need to make an appearance or offer his help.

He was alert and prepared to make a move if he needed to, but that moment never came, so he was relieved.

"Well, back to sleep, I guess." Cedric shrugged as he quietly left the building.
