Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking-Chapter 599: Father and Sons Bonding (End)
--
Cedric's little provocation didn't faze his sons too much. They dealt with his retaliation calmly and returned to their onslaught.
Gerald rushed him again while Gilderoy started flying high with his staff raised. His golden eyes whitened and stared, emitting sparks of electricity. The skies above darkened ominously, thunder boomed, and an oppressive aura descended; the scene looks like a wrathful act of God.
Without any incantations or declarations, Gilderoy simply aimed his staff towards his father, and then doomsday began. Lightning rained down from above, striking Cedric where he stood. This was no ordinary lightning; it was tribulation lightning, one that has slain millions of life evolvers throughout history.
And it didn't stop there either...
Following the lightning tribulation was a cataclysmic volcanic eruption occurring right under Cedric's feet. A turbulent sea of lava and magma swallowed him whole. Then, with another wave of his staff, Gilderoy unleashed another calamity, which was the Ice Age.
Cedric was entombed somewhere deep in the now solidly and rapidly frozen sea of magma and flames. Three calamities in quick succession, unleashed with Gilderoy barely breaking a sweat. It is now clear that he truly has the capability to destroy a world on his own.
But of course, none of the brothers thought that this would be the end of it. Even though they could barely see him, they knew that their father was still alive and well. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if he was unhurt even after going through all of that.
And they're correct. Somewhere in the depths of the frozen glacier of what previously was lava and magma was Cedric, who's standing still with a hand behind his back, wearing an impressed smile on his face.
'My boy could command lightning tribulation? Since when? '
The achievement truly surprised him because he knew just how unruly this element was. Obviously, he could do it too, but he truly never expected his son to be able to do it this early. Oh, he was so proud.
'Also, the speed at which he transitioned from one calamitous spell to the next was frighteningly quick! Silas would be so jealous of me if he were to know, haha! '
'Oh, looks like it's Gerald's turn now.'
Cedric silenced his thoughts and eagerly waited for Gerald's turn.
Taking advantage of the Ice Age Gilderoy unleashed upon the world, frost and snow swarmed towards Gerald like locusts clouds. His aura rose so sharply as he readied his sword; it almost seemed like he was determined to cut the heavens in that stance of his.
At some point, all the snow and frost around him lit up into blue flames—ice was so hot, it burned. The same flame enchanted his beautiful sword, making it shine even more beautifully than before.
Then, Gerald's own golden eyes sharpened. His gaze seemingly penetrated all the chaos around him, locking onto the spot where his father was. And with a loud grunt, he swung his sword down, unleashing all the momentum he had gathered so far in that instant.
Everybody felt shivers running down their spine as he made a move. In the audience's horror, they saw Gerald slicing the world in half cleanly; even the skies weren't spared from his sword as it was cleanly severed in half too.
Was it excessive? Yes. After all, his only target was his father; he could've maybe spared the world from his wrath. Fortunately, this was just a playground. If this were to be a real world with other living beings around, Gerald would certainly choose a different approach.
Smiling, Cedric raised his sword to block the attack. A loud clang was heard as he received the full might and weight of Gerald's attack. The attack that severed the world and the skies in half was unable to slice through Cedric, who received it with nothing but his physical body and a sliver of his sword intent.
As the attack kept pressing down on him, Cedric thought, 'Hmm, this attack...not many Grand Solar Sages can withstand it.'
'It's not just sharp and lethal; it's also very persistent.' He mused as he stared at the burning ice, trying to cover his own sword.
Ice that's so cold, it burns.' How very impressive. Additionally, this also gives him preliminary qualifications to learn yin-yang laws. From what I sensed earlier, he has already taken a half-step into that. It's just that he's focused on the Cosmic Furnace Spell lately that he didn't actively pursue it'.
'Still, it's very impressive...' Cedric concluded with a slight nod before swinging his sword and neutralizing Gerald's attack.
Though, it certainly didn't end there either...
Gerald knew that his attack would cause any real damage to his father, something that neither surprised nor upset him. It's just a mere fact.
So, he decided to set up the stage for the next attack by igniting the entire Ice Age expanse into blue flames. He then controlled it and shaped it into an arrow, which he brought to Godwyn, who's already in his shooting stance.
Gilderoy was next to him with his eyes closed, enchanting his bow with magical properties unknown to most.
As the burning ice arrow slotted itself into his hand, a foreboding aura exploded from Godwyn.
His own golden eyes locked in to where his father stood. From that gaze, Cedric already knew that he was marked and escaping was useless, so he just stood there instead.
With an exhale, Godwyn did something truly outrageous.
A portal opened up above him, revealing a glimpse of the endless expanse of stars, planets, and worlds. Then, he beckoned a planet closer, and as it passed through the portal, it shrank into a beam of light that fused with the burning ice arrow already slotted into the bow. It was around this time that Gilderoy was already done enchanting his bow.
'My, my...this kid! Isn't he a little too sinister? Who the hell turns a planet into an arrow to shoot at his own old man? '
'But damn! That's very impressive. To think that my little Godwyn has already grown this strong. Oh, crap! I'm about to cry.'
If people were to hear his thoughts, they'd probably be speechless. Who the hell feels proud of their children attempting patricide? Alas, Cedric was no ordinary man, and his children were no ordinary people either.
Cedric felt the moment Godwyn was ready to release his shot. Then, he discovered something that caused him to audibly gasp in surprise.
For the first time, instead of just standing there and waiting for the attack to come, Cedric took the initiative to meet it head-on. He thrust his sword forward just in time to meet the blasting arrow.
BOOM!!!
A cataclysmic explosion occurred. The impact sent Cedric flying far, but he wasn't hurt. His lower body remained stable even as he was being pushed back; his arm also didn't shake or weaken despite catching the full planet-turned arrow just like that.
'Good lord, what a shot! 'Cedric exclaimed inwardly.
'As if turning some random and dying planet into an arrow wasn't enough, you just had to make sure that this shot could reverse the laws of causality!! Since when has my little Godwyn been able to do something like this? '
Yes, Godwyn indeed infused the causality-reversing effect on his shot just now. It's for this very reason that Cedric took the initiative to meet it because it forced him to.
Even as he was, there's no other way for him to deal with this attack other than this. Well, he could've let it be his body, but he will truly be hurt if he allows it too.
Just a reminder, Godwyn's arrow was originally a dying planet. Its explosive power was already not to be underestimated. This, including the causality-reversing effect, could practically seal anyone's fate. This, added to the persistent effect of Gerald's Frostfire, just becomes even more troublesome to deal with.
Judging from how weak his children looked now, especially Godwyn, this attack was far more than he could originally handle. Something of this magnitude should've destroyed his bow; fortunately, Gilderoy was there to enchant its durability. That's the only way it's still intact even after that.
"Hmm, I suppose that's enough for today." Cedric chuckled.
Then, he twisted the wrist holding his sword, and the act annihilated Godwyn's arrow into nothingness. Silence descended over the playground, and to his children's dismay, Cedric looked as fresh as a daisy even after all that.
"Damn! What a freak!" Godwyn spat through his exhaustion, fully collapsing on the ground. Gilderoy and Gerald kept silent, but they too shared the same sentiment.
But before any of them fell completely into the ground, an invisible force lifted them and brought them to the arms of their oh-so-proud father, who then showered them with too much fatherly affection.
"Uuuuu! My babies have grown up! I'm so proud! So proud!"
Cedric dramatically exclaimed. He's full-on crying now while rubbing his face against his children's. He was completely immune to shame, not minding that there were people who were watching all of this with amused faces.
Who could've thought that such a perverse and seemingly invincible person would turn out to be such a doting father?
