Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 149: Have a Good Bath and Enjoy the Bustle
Ye Nai believed that the labor wave a decade from now had nothing to do with her current self, but the Secret Realm was definitely going to be hers in the future. If monopolistic corporations wanted to mess with her turf, then she wouldn’t be so polite.
After a delicious dinner, the next day everything went back to normal. During her lunch break, Ye Nai scrolled through her phone and came across the commemorative news from yesterday. She was unexpectedly featured in the 15-minute segment, pushing a cart in the hospital—that specific shot.
Wearing a hat and a mask, her entire face was obscured except for her eyes, which were focused downwards as she attentively pushed the cart and watched the path. It was just a quick glimpse on the screen; had she not remembered the incident, she wouldn’t have recognized herself.
After following her daily routine for a few days, Ye Nai took a two-day break. She went to Town No. 1 to customize a new shoe last and took the opportunity to also visit the bathhouse for a thorough scrub and relax.
The last time she was in town was New Year’s Day, when it was so crowded you could hardly move. Now at the end of March, almost April, the streets were still bustling with people and vehicles.
Holding a drink in one hand and snacks in the other, Ye Nai stood on the street and observed carefully, noticing quite a few out-of-town license plates. They were not from the neighboring Dongpo City or Anyuan City but from other provinces and cities even further away.
Only a few days had passed, and vehicles from outside areas were already arriving.
She also overheard passersby chatting that a rich lake had recently been discovered in the Secret Realm. Many cars from outside cities had been coming in these past few days for fishing, and some had even seen refrigerated trucks.
Ye Nai found the passersby’s talks a bit exaggerated. Refrigerated trucks were commonplace around here for delivering fresh produce and medicines to the backwater towns; seeing such trucks didn’t necessarily mean they were carrying fresh seafood.
Though the influx of outsiders was substantial, it did promote the development of the local service industry, which was a good thing.
Ye Nai sipped her drink and strolled along to get her new shoe lasts made. On her way to the bathhouse, she also bought a laser ruler for measuring the volume of spaces.
The bathhouse seemed to never have an off-peak season, always full of customers, mostly men with fewer women. But despite the low number of female patrons, they were no less fierce, and once inside the bath, it was clear everyone was a battle-hardened warrior with solid muscles.
After having a scrub, Ye Nai went for the buffet. Just as she was enjoying her meal, two groups at tables diagonally across from each other suddenly flipped their tables and faced off.
Not just the nearby diners but the entire buffet area’s customers got to their feet, surrounding the dueling parties to watch the showdown and even inciting them with chants of "Fight, fight!"
Ye Nai, holding her plate, moved a bit further away. She didn’t join in the jeering, finished her meal quickly, and went upstairs to watch the commotion.
As soon as she ran upstairs and glanced down at the high-ceilinged buffet area, she saw the conflicting parties had actually started fighting.
The security guards, blocked by the wall of onlookers, couldn’t get through to break it up.
Guests leaving the bathhouse, regardless of gender, were only wearing a robe and a disposable undergarment, with women not even wearing bras, all for the sake of relaxation.
Once the fight began, robes were easily ripped off, and the loose undergarments didn’t last long either. In the blink of an eye, both sides were reduced to hand-to-hand combat in the nude.
The onlookers laughed heartily at the sight, with some even making pointed remarks.
Despite being in such a state, none of the fighters showed any sign of stopping. Unused tableware from nearby tables were turned into makeshift weapons, tossed about, clattering everywhere.
After a few minutes of fighting, they finally separated. The crowd assumed the fight was over, only to see that among them, the Space Awakeners started pulling out hatchets and knives.
The battle resumed with weapons drawn.
Instantly, it became a gory mess.
The spectators scattered, and the security finally got through the crowd, but they couldn’t stop the enraged fighters. Instead, they turned to evacuate the other guests from the buffet area, clearing space and letting the two groups continue their brawl to its end.

All of them were tough men and women who had trudged through life and death in the Secret Realm. Many people couldn’t bear to leave, but they didn’t want to get others’ blood splattered on their freshly cleaned bodies. So, they all squeezed at the entrance of the self-service dining area to watch the excitement, chattering and discussing animatedly, which created quite a noise.
"Nice, that dodge was slick."
"Idiot, when you swing a knife, don’t flip your wrist. Once you flip, the blade turns. Look, look, he didn’t even hit the guy."
"Ah, that kick was solid."
"Wow, that’s a gusher. That cut must’ve hit an artery."
"Uh-oh, that guy’s a goner."
"Hey, hey, why are they fighting? Does anyone know?"
"No idea. Came out from a bath starving, who cares what they’re yapping about."
"Who’s the owner of this bath center? They’re fighting like this; business will be ruined."
"Heh, someone’s still got the leisure to worry about the boss. To run such a big bath center here, the boss must be richer and more powerful than us."
"True, true."
"Let’s go, let’s go. I’m done watching. Let’s head upstairs to rest."
"Eh, I haven’t had my fill yet. Hope they clean it up quickly."
Ye Nai was upstairs. The people around her were also there for the spectacle, and their comments were much the same; they weren’t shy on giving advice on the brawl below, regardless of their own abilities.
She watched intently, not about to comment on the quality of the fight; she was interested in the tactics of a group brawl - how to protect oneself while injuring others. It was a matter of both experience and skill.
When the crowd on the first floor dispersed and security finally stepped in, the fight also ended. As Ye Nai looked for the game room on the second floor, she overheard gossip about how too many out-of-towners had come in recently, raising the local temper. Fights in bath centers were unheard of before – people just didn’t respect the boss these days.
Ye Nai listened to this and found it quite reasonable. She had come to relax and enjoy herself, there was no need to get tensed up because of others. So, for the rest of the time, she stayed in the video game room. When hungry, she would step out to eat and drink; when tired, she would book a room upstairs to sleep, and she even measured the volume of the space with her newly bought laser ruler, astonished to find it had expanded from the initial 10*10*20 cubic meters to 10*15*100 cubic meters.
That two-meter-tall Big Heart Core was still standing in the center of her space, wrapped in a cocoon of dense fungus, showing no sign of shrinking in this past month.
Of course, it must be that the energy was too condensed, and despite the fungus desperately decomposing and absorbing it, not much had been digested, failing to reduce its volume.
Ye Nai shifted her attention back to her space. The increased volume meant she was inclined to organize her belongings.
So, for the next few hours, Ye Nai played a game of storage and organization within her space, adjusting the angle and position of each item. Once everything was arranged to her satisfaction, she realized she wasn’t the slightest bit tired, still bursting with energy.
Without using any measuring devices, Ye Nai guessed that her spiritual power might have reached quite a high level.
Because, according to what she had read on the Awakeners’ forum, a Space Awakened’s spiritual power is generally proportional to the size of their space – a small space means weak spiritual power, a large space means strong spiritual power.
Now that she had tens of thousands of cubic meters of space, it made sense that her spiritual power was above average.
